Comparative study of patients knowledge on osteoarthritis treatment options to ACR guidelines
Portuguese population is growing older, according to national
data in 2011 the aging index was 129. The number of elderly population
is higher than the younger; average life expectancy is 79,2 years (1).
Because knee Osteoarthritis increases with age, and according to WHO
80% of these subjects will have some degree of impairment and 25% will
not be able to do their daily living activities (2), OA has a big impact on
the sustainability of both health and social care as populations grow
older. Our goal was to compare current guidelines of managing knee OA,
to the degree of information each patient has about their treatment

Polymers Confined between Two Parallel Plane Walls
Single three dimensional polymers confined to a slab, i.e. to the region
between two parallel plane walls, are studied by Monte Carlo simulations. They
are described by -step walks on a simple cubic lattice confined to the
region . The simulations cover both regions (where is the Flory radius, with ), as
well as the cross-over region in between. Chain lengths are up to ,
slab widths up to D=120. In order to test the analysis program and to check for
finite size corrections, we actually studied three different models: (a)
Ordinary random walks (mimicking -polymers); (b) Self-avoiding walks
(SAW); and (c) Domb-Joyce walks with the self-repulsion tuned to the point
where finite size corrections for free (unrestricted) chains are minimal. For
the simulations we employ the pruned-enriched-Rosenbluth method (PERM) with
Markovian anticipation. In addition to the partition sum (which gives us a
direct estimate of the forces exerted onto the walls), we measure the density
profiles of monomers and of end points transverse to the slab, and the radial
extent of the chain parallel to the walls. All scaling laws and some of the
universal amplitude ratios are compared to theoretical predictions.Comment: 8 pages, 14 figures include
Boost the Impact of Continuous Formal Verification in Industry
Software model checking has experienced significant progress in the last two
decades, however, one of its major bottlenecks for practical applications
remains its scalability and adaptability. Here, we describe an approach to
integrate software model checking techniques into the DevOps culture by
exploiting practices such as continuous integration and regression tests. In
particular, our proposed approach looks at the modifications to the software
system since its last verification, and submits them to a continuous formal
verification process, guided by a set of regression test cases. Our vision is
to focus on the developer in order to integrate formal verification techniques
into the developer workflow by using their main software development
methodologies and tools.Comment: 7 page

Airway involvement in interstitial lung disease
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: After briefly discussing several ways to approach airway involvement in interstitial lung diseases - by diagnostic methodologies used to assess it, considering different topographical involvement, related to its presence in the diffuse lung diseases with higher prevalence, or from a causal point of view - the author describes in more detail, taking into account recent literature, new proposed entities combining airways (at different levels) and interstitial damage, like airway-centered interstitial fibrosis and acute fibrinous organizing pneumonia. RECENT FINDINGS: These proposed patterns are being discussed, as possible autonomic interstitial lung disease disorders, and also from the perspective of its relationship with the main differential diagnosis, within known interstitial pictures. SUMMARY: Thus, airway-centered interstitial fibrosis and acute fibrinous organizing pneumonia may widen the spectrum of the yet described long list of interstitial lung diseases, and its diagnosis may be considered, under specific circumstances, when there is airway involvement associated with interstitial damage
