    Audiovisual lineament and the new technologies in classroom 2.0 of Emilia Romagna

    I bambini e i ragazzi nel nuovo millennio sono forse più avvezzi alla visione di un film o di una trasmissione televisiva che non alla lettura di un libro. Quello che è certo, è che sono sottoposti a un bombardamento mediatico senza precedenti grazie a canali televisivi specializzati nella produzione di programmi per l’infanzia e l’adolescenza, alla Rete Internet e ai dispositivi mobili di ultima generazione. E a scuola? Come cambia la didattica? Al laboratorio Mela abbiamo documentato con un video l’avvio della prima esperienza delle Cl@ssi 2.0 in Emilia-Romagna nelle scuole secondarie inferiori. Alla fine dei 3 anni di sperimentazione, durante i quali gli insegnanti hanno utilizzato LIM, computer in classe e Moodle per l’insegnamento a distanza, abbiamo invece cercato di capire, con un questionario, come e quanto vengano utilizzati i video per la didattica.     Universities and multi-stakeholder engagement for sustainable development: a research and technology perspective

    If we have any hope of achieving sustainability, we, as researchers, need to develop a new perspective on universities and multistakeholder engagement. Stakeholder theory teaches us that engaging stakeholders in specific transactions and interactions can foster the sustainable development. But solving the grand challenge of sustainability requires more. Universities need to see themselves as part of a great network of stakeholders where interactions, knowledge, and data management go beyond the entrepreneurial university paradigm. Hence, in this article, we present Oztel's concept of a fourth-generation university as a launch-point for broadening the discourse on higher education's third mission. We establish a new stream of inquiry through four main propositions for research and technology management. Further, we call for interested scholars to pioneer this field with an inexhaustive list of potential avenues for future research. University managers, researchers, and policymakers should find great insights into the future evolution of sustainable development and its soon-to-be intrinsic place in the fabric of teaching, research, and society

    INTERACTIVE THEATRE AND SCIENCE COMMUNICATION

    Per evitare gli errori del passato e per rendere più efficace la comunicazione pubblica della scienza in termini di radicamento nella società di una mentalità scientifica, occorre credere nella possibilità di una co-costruzione della conoscenza insieme con i cittadini. Il rapporto fra scienza e società si realizza oggi in un’azione comunicativa più egualitaria di quella che era sottesa al concetto di divulgazione scientifica, grazie a un nuovo strumento, il coinvolgimento attivo e il rapporto diretto tra scienziati e cittadini, per una formazione democratica di entrambi. Una possibile forma di dialogo costruttivo tra scienziati e cittadini è il teatro, che da molto tempo si presta al coinvolgimento del pubblico e a performance in cui gli spettatori sono chiamati a pensare, partecipare e prendere decisioni, diventando anche occasione di cambiamento personale e sociale. Abbiamo sperimentato una performance interattiva durante la Notte dei ricercatori 2022 a Bologna, dove gli spettatori erano chiamati a prendere decisioni, intervenendo fisicamente e assumendosi la responsabilità di determinare il corso della narrazione. Tramite le interviste finali abbiamo saputo che l’avere un ruolo attivo nella performance teatrale ha contribuito ad aumentare l’attenzione, a sollecitare la riflessività e in generale a sensibilizzare riguardo all’argomento trattato.To avoid the mistakes of the past and to make the public communication of science more effective in terms of anchoring a scientific mentality in society, it is necessary to believe in the possibility of a co-construction of knowledge together with citizens. The relationship between science and society is realized today in a communicative action that is more egalitarian than the one underlying the concept of scientific dissemination, thanks to a new tool, the active involvement and direct relationship between scientists and citizens, for a democratic education of both. A possible form of constructive dialogue between scientists and citizens is theater, which for a long time has lent itself to the involvement of the public and performances in which spectators are called to think, participate, and make decisions, also becoming an opportunity for personal and social change. We experienced an interactive performance during European Researchers' Night 2022 in Bologna, where viewers were called upon to make decisions, physically intervening and taking responsibility for determining the course of the narrative. Through the final interviews we learned that having an active role in the theatrical performance has helped to increase attention, to solicit reflexivity and in general to raise awareness of the subject matter

    Visual communication in research : a third space between science and art

    Ample scientific literature recognises the role of visual thinking in the constructive process of ideas and mental images and the function of visual intelligence in the communicative processes. Starting from the sectoral studies, we have turned our attention to the visual communication of the results of scientific research, relating it to some characteristics of artistic communication to find a shared ground, that is, a third space inhabited by common languages and competencies. In so doing, we have overcome the traditional antinomy between humanists and scientists, starting instead from the results of a recent study that has shown how such an opposition does not find real confirmation in the sector of science communication. We have thus analysed three case studies (graphical abstract, augmented reality, audiovisual documentation) on the grounds of a 10-year long experience of research in the field of visual communication (iconography and iconology, art teaching, video research) to acknowledge visual thinking and graphical/artistic competencies, situated in the third space between didactics and art, a fundamental role in the formation of a scientist and a researcher
