On amenability and co-amenability of algebraic quantum groups and their corepresentations
We introduce and study several amenability properties for unitary
corepresentations and *-representations of algebraic quantum groups, which may
be used to characterize amenability or co-amenability of such groups. As a
background for this study, we also investigate the involved tensor

Experimental study of the microwave emission from electrons in air
We searched for the emission of microwave radiation in the Ku band generated
by a 95 keV electron beam in air. We unequivocally detected the radiation, and
measured its yield and angular dependence. Both the emitted power and its
angular pattern are well described by a model, where microwave photons are
generated via bremsstrahlung in the free-electron atomic-nucleus collisions,
during the slowdown of the electrons. As a consequence, the radiation is not
isotropic but peaked in the forward direction. The emission yield scales
proportionally with the number of electrons. This contrasts a previous claim
that the yield scales with the number squared, due to coherence. With a Monte
Carlo simulation we extrapolate our results to the Ultra High Energy Cosmic Ray

Superselection Theory for Subsystems
An inclusion of observable nets satisfying duality induces an inclusion of
canonical field nets. Any Bose net intermediate between the observable net and
the field net and satisfying duality is the fixed-point net of the field net
under a compact group. This compact group is its canonical gauge group if the
occurrence of sectors with infinite statistics can be ruled out for the

Measurement of scaling laws for shock waves in thermal nonlocal media
We are able to detect the details of spatial optical collisionless
wave-breaking through the high aperture imaging of a beam suffering shock in a
fluorescent nonlinear nonlocal thermal medium. This allows us to directly
measure how nonlocality and nonlinearity affect the point of shock formation
and compare results with numerical simulations.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Exchange-correlation potential for Current Density Functional Theory of frequency dependent linear response
The dynamical, long-wavelength longitudinal and transverse
exchange-correlation potentials for a homogeneous electron gas are evaluated in
a microscopic model based on an approximate decoupling of the equation of
motion for the current-current response function. The transverse spectrum turns
out to be very similar to the longitudinal one. We obtain evidence for a strong
spectral structure near twice the plasma frequency due to a two-plasmon
threshold for two-pair excitations, which may be observable in inelastic
scattering experiments. Our results give the entire input needed to implement
the Time-Dependent Current Density Functional Theory scheme recently developed
by G. Vignale and W. Kohn [Phys. Rev. Lett. 77, 2037 (1996)] and are fitted to
analytic functions to facilitate such applications.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure
Extracellular vesicle-induced differentiation of neural stem progenitor cells
Neural stem progenitor cells (NSPCs) from E13.5 mouse embryos can be maintained in culture under proliferating conditions. Upon growth-factor removal, they may differentiate toward either neuronal or glial phenotypes or both. Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles that are part of the cell secretome; they may contain and deliver both proteins and genetic material and thus play a role in cell–cell communication, guide axonal growth, modulate synaptic activity and regulate peripheral nerve regeneration. In this work, we were interested in determining whether NSPCs and their progeny can produce and secrete extracellular vesicles (EVs) and if their content can affect cell differentiation. Our results indicate that cultured NSPCs produce and secrete EVs both under proliferating conditions and after differentiation. Treatment of proliferating NSPCs with EVs derived from differentiated NSPCs triggers cell differentiation in a dose-dependent manner, as demonstrated by glial-and neuronal-marker expression
