New mechanization equations for aided inertial navigation systems

    Get PDF
Inertial navigation equations are developed which use area navigation (RNAV) waypoints and runway references as coodinate centers. The formulation is designed for aided inertial navigation systems and gives a high numerical accuracy through all phases of flight. A new formulation of the error equations for inertial navigation systems is also presented. This new formulation reduces numerical calculations in the use of Kalman filters for aided inertial navigation systems

On the stabilization of a cable with a tip mass

    Get PDF
Cataloged from PDF version of article. In this note, we consider a vertical cable which is pinched at the upper end. A mass is attached at the lower end where a control force is also applied. We show that this hybrid system is uniformly stabilized by choosing a suitable control law for the control force depending on the velocity and angular velocity at the free end. Moreover for specific values of the feedback coefficients, we obtain the rate of decay of the energy of the system

Silicon intercalation into the graphene-SiC interface

In this work we use LEEM, XPEEM and XPS to study how the excess Si at the graphene-vacuum interface reorders itself at high temperatures. We show that silicon deposited at room temperature onto multilayer graphene films grown on the SiC(000[`1]) rapidly diffuses to the graphene-SiC interface when heated to temperatures above 1020. In a sequence of depositions, we have been able to intercalate ~ 6 ML of Si into the graphene-SiC interface.Comment: 6 pages, 8 figures, submitted to PR

Elliptic curves of large rank and small conductor

    Get PDF
For r=6,7,...,11 we find an elliptic curve E/Q of rank at least r and the smallest conductor known, improving on the previous records by factors ranging from 1.0136 (for r=6) to over 100 (for r=10 and r=11). We describe our search methods, and tabulate, for each r=5,6,...,11, the five curves of lowest conductor, and (except for r=11) also the five of lowest absolute discriminant, that we found.Comment: 16 pages, including tables and one .eps figure; to appear in the Proceedings of ANTS-6 (June 2004, Burlington, VT). Revised somewhat after comments by J.Silverman on the previous draft, and again to get the correct page break

Supersymmetric Brane World Scenarios from Off-Shell Supergravity

Using N=2 off-shell supergravity in five dimensions, we supersymmetrize the brane world scenario of Randall and Sundrum. We extend their construction to include supersymmetric matter at the fixpoints.Comment: 15 pages, no figures, late

Expanding Dress Code Requirements in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program

    Get PDF
Although the use of a professional dress code is standard practice across colleges and schools of pharmacy during introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences, requiring professional attire is not applied consistently during the didactic portion of students’ education. There are arguments for and against the adoption of a professional dress code throughout the entire doctor of pharmacy program, including the classroom setting. Given uncertainty regarding the potential benefits and challenges that may arise from adopting a professional dress code in the didactic portion of a student pharmacist’s education, it is perhaps not surprising that programs adopt disparate policies regarding its use. This exploration was conducted as part of a series of debates held in conjunction with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s (AACP) Academic Leadership Fellows Program (ALFP) and was presented at the 2015 AACP Interim Meeting on February 7, 2015

Aircraft design at the Naval Postgraduate School - Tactical waverider/long-range cargo aircraft

Aircraft Design, Systems, and Operations Meeting, 09 August 1993 - 11 August 1993The article of record as published may be located at https://doi.org/10.2514/6.1993-4007The graduate program of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Naval Postgraduate School uniquely supports a comprehensive design program in aircraft, spacecraft, missile, helicopter, and engine design. This paper is focused on four aircraft configuration designs proposed by AA 4273 Military Aircraft Design course team members. The AA 4273 course is, in turn, supported by a growing research program to enhance and further develop the methodology of aircraft design. This design effort has received considerable support from the NASA/USRA Advanced Design Program in Aeronautics. Specifically, two design solutions for a long-range,carrier based, tactical, wave-rider configured fighter/interceptor aircraft are reviewed herein, as are two solutions for a global range military transport. Both types of aircraft were developed as a graduate student team response to specific design RFPs
