Predatory and Scam Journals

For some years now, and empowered by digitalisation and open access publication, a large number of falsely named scientific journals have appeared whose aim it is to take advantage of scientists' need to progress in their academic and hospital careers through ''publish or perish'. Basedon several digital platforms,these journals, which have been called predatory and which we could call scam journals,facilitate the whole process of publication in a journal with a suggestive and appealing title which usually imitates that of a serious and consolidated journal to which they usu ally add an ending such as and ¨ research, and clinicalor ¨ a beginning such as American, ¨ British, International, etc..¨. New social and legal challenges resulting from the presence of islam in 21st century european societies

One of the greatest challenges facing the European societies and legal systems arises from the rapid changes that have taken place in recent decades, from a certain level of cultural and religious uniformity towards a landscape of diversity in which Islam has made its presence felt. The viability of coexistence between the Islamic and Western cultures should rest on two foundations: firstly, the acceptance of a common minimum defined by respect for a person´s dignity, that is, an agreement on the question of human rights. Along with this consensus there is also a need for respect and the integration of diversity. This study sets out to analyse the challenges that both issues raise.

Los conflictos entre libertad de expresión y religión: tratamiento jurídico del discurso del odio

En los últimos años se han incrementado en Europa las expresiones ofensivas hacia la religión, en algunos casos con una intención provocadora, cuyo mensaje parece ser: "se puede decir todo, no hay nada sagrado". En otros supuestos, se trata de declaraciones no únicamente provocadoras sino que manifiestan odio o desprecio hacia quienes profesan determinadas creencias. Es indudable que estos supuestos son lamentables y no ayudan a proteger los derechos y libertades, sino que avivan el enfrentamiento y el conflicto. Ahora bien, ¿es misión del Derecho limitar las expresiones que hieren sentimientos religiosos o incitan al odio? En caso afirmativo, ¿en qué medida? De la respuesta a estos interrogantes, tanto en la normativa emanada de la Unión Europea y del Consejo de Europa, como en el ordenamiento estatal, se ocupa este trabajo
