CP asymmetry in the Higgs decay into the top pair due to the stop mixing
We investigate a potentially large CP violating asymmetry in the decay of a
neutral scalar or pseudoscalar Higgs boson into the top-anti-top pair. The
source of the CP nonconservation is the complex mixing in the (left-right) stop
sector. One of the interesting consequence is the different rates of the Higgs

Detailed study of BBN implications of neutrino oscillation generated neutrino asymmetries in some four neutrino models
We re-examine the evolution of neutrino asymmetries in several four neutrino
models. The first case involves the direct creation of by oscillations. In the second case, we consider the mass
hierarchy where oscillations generate a large and some of
this asymmetry is converted into by oscillations. We estimate the implications for BBN for a range of
cosmologically interesting values. The present paper improves on
previous published work by taking into account the finite repopulation rate and
the time dependence of the distortions to the neutrino momentum distributions.

Low-temperature dynamical simulation of spin-boson systems
The dynamics of spin-boson systems at very low temperatures has been studied
using a real-time path-integral simulation technique which combines a
stochastic Monte Carlo sampling over the quantum fluctuations with an exact
treatment of the quasiclassical degrees of freedoms. To a large degree, this
special technique circumvents the dynamical sign problem and allows the
dynamics to be studied directly up to long real times in a numerically exact
manner. This method has been applied to two important problems: (1) crossover
from nonadiabatic to adiabatic behavior in electron transfer reactions, (2) the
zero-temperature dynamics in the antiferromagnetic Kondo region 1/2<K<1 where K

Complement Split Product C5a Mediates the LipopolysaccharideâInduced Mobilization of CfuâS and Haemopoietic Progenitor Cells, But Not the Mobilization Induced By Proteolytic Enzymes
Abstract. Intravenous (i.v.) injection of mice with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and the proteolytic enzymes trypsin and proteinase, mobilizes pluripotent haemopoietic stem cells (CFUâs) as well as granulocyteâmacrophage progenitor cells (GMâCFU) and the early progenitors of the erythroid lineage (EâBFU) from the haemopoietic tissues into the peripheral blood. We investigated the involvement of the complement (C) system in this process. It appeared that the early mobilization induced by LPS and other activators of the alternative complement pathway, such as Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) and zymosan, but not that induced by the proteolytic enzymes, was absent in C5âdeficient mice. the mobilization by C activators in these mice could be restored by injection of C5âsufficient serum, suggesting a critical role for C5. The manner in which C5 was involved in the C activationâmediated stem cell mobilization was studied using a serum transfer system. C5âsufficient serum, activated in vitro by incubation with Lm and subsequently liberated from the bacteria, caused mobilization in both C5âsufficient and C5âdeficient mice. C5âdeficient serum was not able to do so. the resistance of the mobilizing principle to heat treatment (56°C, 30 min) strongly suggests that it is identical with the C5 split product C5a, or an in vivo derivative of C5a. Measurement of Through-Going Particle Momentum By Means Of Multiple Scattering With The ICARUS T600 TPC
The ICARUS collaboration has demonstrated, following the operation of a 600
ton (T600) detector at shallow depth, that the technique based on liquid Argon
TPCs is now mature. The study of rare events, not contemplated in the Standard
Model, can greatly benefit from the use of this kind of detectors. In
particular, a deeper understanding of atmospheric neutrino properties will be
obtained thanks to the unprecedented quality of the data ICARUS provides.
However if we concentrate on the T600 performance, most of the
charged current sample will be partially contained, due to the reduced
dimensions of the detector. In this article, we address the problem of how well
we can determine the kinematics of events having partially contained tracks.
The analysis of a large sample of atmospheric muons collected during the T600
test run demonstrate that, in case the recorded track is at least one meter
long, the muon momentum can be reconstructed by an algorithm that measures the
Multiple Coulomb Scattering along the particle's path. Moreover, we show that
momentum resolution can be improved by a factor two using an algorithm based on
the Kalman Filtering technique
Supernova Observation Via Neutrino-Nucleus Elastic Scattering in the CLEAN Detector
Development of large mass detectors for low-energy neutrinos and dark matter
may allow supernova detection via neutrino-nucleus elastic scattering. An
elastic-scattering detector could observe a few, or more, events per ton for a
galactic supernova at 10 kpc ( m). This large yield, a
factor of at least 20 greater than that for existing light-water detectors,
arises because of the very large coherent cross section and the sensitivity to
all flavors of neutrinos and antineutrinos. An elastic scattering detector can
provide important information on the flux and spectrum of and
from supernovae. We consider many detectors and a range of target
materials from He to Pb. Monte Carlo simulations of low-energy
backgrounds are presented for the liquid-neon-based Cryogenic Low Energy
Astrophysics with Noble gases (CLEAN) detector. The simulated background is
much smaller than the expected signal from a galactic supernova.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
