Perfil neuropsicológico e escolar de crianças com discalculia e dislexia : estudo Comparativo

This paper aims to compare the neuropsychological and educational profies of Brazilian children with dyscalculia (n = 8), dyslexia (n = 13) and without learning disabilities (n = 12). The neuropsychological profie was composed of: (a) intelligence assessed by the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-III); (b) attention - WISC-III Coding and Symbol Search subtests; (c) executive functions - Digit Span (backward order) and WISC-III Arithmetic subtests, Pseudoword Repetition Test for Brazilian Children, Stroop Test and Wisconsin Card Sorting Test; (d) memory - WISC-III Digit Span subtest (forward order) and Rey Complex Figures. The educational profie was composed of reading, writing and mathematics, assessed by the Academic Performance Test and the Arithmetic Test. It was found that the groups with dyscalculia and dyslexia did not differentiate in any of the neuropsychological abilities, only in the reading and writing abilities. Funções cognitivas, autoestima e autoconceito de crianças com transtorno de déficit de atenção e hiperatividade

The study aimed to compare the performance of children with ADHD and children without learning and/or attention difficulties in tasks of visual attention, executive functions, self-esteem and self--concept. Participants were34 children, 17 with ADHD and 17in the control group, with a mean age of 9.92 years. For the evaluation, the following tests were used: Cancellation Test, Trail Making Test, Stroop Color Word Test, Tower of London, Children's Depression Inventory, Self-Esteem Multidimensional Scale, and Children's Self-Concept Scale. Quality Of Life Of Caregivers Of Children With Cerebral Palsy Or Stroke:comparative Study [qualidade De Vida De Cuidadores De Crianças Com Pc Ou Avc: Estudo Comparativo]

Objective. To evaluate and compare the quality of life (QOL) of caregivers of children with cerebral palsy or stroke. Method. This is a prospective randomized study, conducted with 21 caregivers of children who had cerebral palsy (G1) or stroke (G2), attended in HC/ UNICAMP. To evaluate the caregivers' QOL was used the World Health Organization questionnaire, called WHOQOL-Bref. Results. Among the 21 interviewees, 15 were in G1 and analysis of the WHOQOL-Bref shows no statistically significant difference between groups when we examined the perception of QOL for different domains (physical, psychological, social and environmental), age, gender, education level and level of motor impairment of the child. However, caregivers of children with other ailments, besides the motor, had a poorer perception of QOL in all domains, with statistically significant difference was identified in the physical domain. Conclusion. Language Evaluation In Children With Bilateral Cerebrovascular Disease: Study Of Two Cases [avaliação Da Linguagem Em Crianças Com Doença Cerebrovascular Bilateral: Estudo De Dois Casos]

We describe two children, aging 5 years and 6 months and 5 years and 10 months respectively, when the phonoaudiological assessment was conducted. Both children presented bilateral cerebrovascular disease (CVD), confirmed in the acute phase by means of clinical and image neurological test. During this phase, the two patients were examined by a pediatric neurologist of the Pediatric Neurology Discipline of FCM/UNICAMP, pediatric CVD ambulatory. Audiologic Assessment, Protocol for Infant Language Assessment, and Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test were used in the evaluations. The qualitative analysis of the two subjects from a phonoaudiological and neurological point of view has shown the recovery of adquired languague disturbance with no influence whatsoever in the development of the first subject and subtle language and/or learning process alterations for the second subject. Medical Residence In Pediatric Neurology In Brazil [residência Médica Em Neurologia Infantil No Brasil]

We present the results of a research on Medical Residence in Pediatric Neurology, classifying present information on the teaching and training in the several centers of formation in Brazil. It was possible to contact 17 Institutions with organized services, being 6 accredited by CNRM (National Council of Medical residence), 10 non accredited, and one under diligence.
