    Mastitis subklinis adalah radang pada ambing yang tidak menunjukkan gejala klinis dan dapat menurunkan produksi susu. Streptococcus sp. adalah salah satu mikroorganisme patogen yang dapat menyebabkan mastitis subklinis pada sapi perah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeteksi Streptococcus sp. pada susu sapi perah. Sebanyak 26 ekor sampel sapi perah dilakukan deteksi mastitis subklinis menggunakan Uji California Mastitis Test (CMT) di Purwoharjo, Banyuwangi. Isolasi dan identifikasi bakteri dilakukan dengan menggunakan kultur agar, pewarnaan Gram, dan uji biokimia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bakteri Streptococcus sp. terdeteksi pada 5 (19.23%) ekor sampel di Purwoharjo Banyuwangi

    Ensiling was one solution for handle lack of forage at dry season in tropical area. Sugarcane top is one of crop residues conserved as silage. The aim of this study were to determine the effect of added Lactobacillus plantarum (0%, 0.1%, 0.3% and 0.5%) to sugarcane top silage with 5% molasses as additive, and incubated for 30 days to pH and the characteristic (colors, teksture, smelt and the fungi ).     Antifulgal potency agints Candida albicans (ATCC 10231) and its Activity as biosurfactant of WNA 4.1.13 fermented growth of Sediment from mangrove Wonorejo Surabaya

    The purpose of this study was to identify the genus of bacteria that produces biosurfactants and its potency as antifungal to Candida albicans (ATCC 10231). WNA bacteria 4.1.13 were isolated from Wonorejo mangrove sediments in Surabaya. The bacteria were identified by examining the morphology and and cell colony.Cell morphology identification was carried out by Gram staining and spores identification. Biosurfactant activity was carried out by oil spreading test, drop collapse test and parafilm test. Antifungal activity was performed by agar diffusion method. The results showed that WNA 4.1.13 isolates from Surabaya Wonorejo mangrove sediments were rod shaped, including Gram positive and had endospores located at the center of bacterial cells. Based on the morphological character of the colony and genus cell bacterial isolates WNA 4.1.13 including Bacillus sp. The result showed that in the broth collapse test, the droplets were flat, forming a clean zone in the oil spreading test and widened diameter in the parafilm test. Antifungal activity test showed inhibition zones formed by fermentation broth isolates of WNA 4.1.13. In conclusion, the fermentation of broth of WNA 4.1.13 isolates from the Wonorejo Surabaya have biosurfactant activity and antifungal potency against Candida albicans (ATCC 10231).     Isolation of Actinomycetes from mangrove sediments at Ujung Pangkah, Gresik, Indonesia

    This research was conducted to get actinomycetes isolate from mangrove sediments at Ujung Pangkah in Gresik-Indonesia. Sediment samples were taken from mangrove rhizosphere in Ujung Pangkah on 3 different location sampling areas. Ten grams of soil sample was accurately weighed and transferred to add 100 mL of sterile NaCl 0.9% mixed well for 10 minutes. The resultant solution was serially diluted up to 10 -12 (10 -3, 10 -4 until 10 -12) with NaCl 0.9%. One millilitre of each intermediate dilution (10 -3, 10 -4 until 10 -12) was added to 10 mL of sterile molten Starch Casein Agar medium which has been supplemented using both chloramphenicol and griseofulvin each one 0.05 ppm individually in separate flasks. The plates were incubated for the growth of actinomycetes colonies at 28◦C and observed intermittently during incubation. After 7 days of incubation, the colonies showing the characteristics of actinomycetes (rough, chalky, powderyappearance radiating growth and leathery texture) were observed. Identification of actinomycetes isolates was conducted by observing macroscopic characteristic of the colony, microscopic of conidial, bacterial cell and the ability of bacteria to resist from acid alcohol. Identification was done based on Bergey’s manual of determinative if bacteriology. The result of this research obtained 9 different isolates actinomycetes. The 9 isolate was identified as 3 genera from actinomycetes. The genera of isolate obtained are Micromonospora, Nocardia and Streptomyces. Key words: Actinomycetes isolate, Incubation, Bacteriolog

    Carcass Quality and Tetracycline Residues in Broiler Chicken Meat in Banyuwangi Traditional Market

    This study aimed to examine the quality of broiler carcasses in the Banyuwangi traditional market with carcass quality examination based on SNI number 3924-2009 and tetracycline antibiotic residues test based on SNI number 7424:2008. A total of ten broiler chicken sellers as representative of almost all broiler chicken sellers in the Banyuwangi market, with each seller was taken for one carcass in this research. Carcass quality examination used a standart carcasses weight 1,0-1,3 kg. Carcass quality examination was carried out with descriptive analysis with reference to the physical characteristics of SNI (Standarisasi Nasional Indonesia). The bioassay method is used to test for tetracycline antibiotic residue. The result of the carcass quality examination showed that from the whole sample consisting of conformation, disjointed or broken bones and missing parts, discolorations, and cleanliness of broiler carcasses are good enough. The percentage quality of broiler carcasses quality I is 60%, quality II is 30% and quality III is 10%. The examination of antibiotic tetracycline residues in broiler meat showed negative results indicating that no feeds containing additional antibiotics made carcasses in the traditional Banyuwangi market safe for consumption
