Biochemistry nanosensor based on hybrid metallic nanostructure array
A biochemistry nanosensor based on hybrid metallic nanostructure array was put forward in this paper. The hybrid metallic nanostructure array consists of two types Ag nanostuctures, spherical and pyramidal structures with the same period. A biochemistry sensor experiment is demonstrated by detecting the transmittance spectra of hybrid metallic nanostructure using Sciencetech spectrophotometer. The wave peaks of transmittance spectra have shifts when the metallic periods and the refractive index of Ag nanostuctures are different
Activation of protease-activated receptor 2 reduces glioblastoma cell apoptosis
BACKGROUND: The pathogenesis of glioma is unclear. The disturbance of the apoptosis process plays a critical role in glioma growth. Factors regulating the apoptosis process are to be further understood. This study aims to investigate the role of protease activated receptor-2 (PAR2) in regulation the apoptosis process in glioma cells. RESULTS: The results showed that U87 cells and human glioma tissue expressed PAR2. Exposure to tryptase, or the PAR2 active peptide, increased STAT3 phosphorylation in the radiated U87 cells, reduced U87 cell apoptosis, suppressed the expression of p53 in U87 cells. CONCLUSIONS: Activation of PAR2 can reduce the radiated U87 cell apoptosis via modulating the expression of p53. The results implicate that PAR2 may be a novel therapeutic target in the treatment of glioma
The Differential Spectrum of the Power Mapping xpn−3
Let n be a positive integer and p a prime. The power mapping xpn−3 over Fpn has desirable differential properties, and its differential spectra for p=2,3 have been determined. In this paper, for any odd prime p , by investigating certain quadratic character sums and some equations over Fpn , we determine the differential spectrum of xpn−3 with a unified approach. The obtained result shows that for any given odd prime p , the differential spectrum can be expressed explicitly in terms of n . Compared with previous results, a special elliptic curve over Fp plays an important role in our computation for the general case p≥5.acceptedVersio
Hybrid metallic nanoparticles for excitation of surface plasmon resonance
A Ag nanostructure was put forward in this paper. There are two types of Ag nanoparticles, spherical and pyramidal particles. Both of them have the same period, but different height and shapes. The hybrid nanoparticles can produce the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), which couples each other and leads to an extra peak transmission. Our UV-visible-IR spectrophotometer measurement results show that some extra small and sharp peaks appear besides the normal LSPR wave peaks in the transmittance spectrum. The hybrid Ag nanoparticles being used as nanosensors will be more sensitive and selective than the conventional LSPR-based nanosensors. © 2007 American Institute of Physics
Meta-Analysis of the Clinical Value of Danshen Injection and Huangqi Injection in Liver Cirrhosis
Objective. To evaluate the clinical value of Danshen injection and Huangqi injection for the treatment of liver cirrhosis. Methods. The Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), Chinese Scientific Journals Full-Text Database (VIP), Wanfang Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), PubMed, and EMBASE database were searched to collect the literatures about the randomized controlled trials involving the treatment of liver cirrhosis with Danshen injection combined with Huangqi injection, and the data analyses were performed using RevMan 4.2 software. Results. A total of 11 studies involving 1086 patients (trials group: 554 cases, control group: 532 cases) were included in this study. Compared with those in control group, the meta-analysis showed-that the total effectiveness rate and the level of serum albumin increased, while serum total bilirubin, alanine transmninase, type III procollagen, hyaluronic acid, laminin, and type-IV collagen decreased in trials group. The Jadad score ranged from 1 to 2 and the funnel plot analysis suggests that publication bias may occur. Conclusions. Danshen injection combined with Huangqi injection may promote the curative efficacy of liver cirrhosis, which is a promising novel treatment approach. The exact outcome needs to perform rigorously designed, multicenter, and large randomized controlled trials
One-step method to grow Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 single crystals without fluxing agent
Single crystals of Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 with excellent quality have been
successfully grown without fluxing agent through a simple one-step method for
the first time. X-ray diffraction patterns demonstrate that the samples have
high crystalline quality and c-axis orientation. The onset transition
temperature is up to 38 K with the zero resistivity temperature about 36.7 K.
Both the R-T and M-T data show a very sharp superconducting transition with
transition width 0.4 K. We also found that the samples possess very large
current carrying ability and high upper critical fields, indicating potential
applications requiring very high field. The above simple and safe one-step
technique of single crystal growth can be effective in other systems of
Fe-based superconductors.Comment: 15 pages, 7 figure
Altered Brain Function in Treatment-Resistant and Non-treatment-resistant Depression Patients: A Resting-State Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study
ObjectiveIn this study, we used amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo) to observe differences in local brain functional activity and its characteristics in patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and non-treatment-resistant depression (nTRD), and to explore the correlation between areas of abnormal brain functional activity and clinical symptoms.MethodThirty-seven patients with TRD, 36 patients with nTRD, and 35 healthy controls (HCs) were included in resting-state fMRI scans. ALFF and ReHo were used for image analysis and further correlation between abnormal brain regions and clinical symptoms were analyzed.ResultsANOVA revealed that the significantly different brain regions of ALFF and ReHo among the three groups were mainly concentrated in the frontal and temporal lobes. Compared with the nTRD group, the TRD group had decreased ALFF in the left/right inferior frontal triangular gyrus, left middle temporal gyrus, left cuneus and bilateral posterior lobes of the cerebellum, and increased ALFF in the left middle frontal gyrus and right superior temporal gyrus, and the TRD group had decreased ReHo in the left/right inferior frontal triangular gyrus, left middle temporal gyrus, and increased ReHo in the right superior frontal gyrus. Compared with the HC group, the TRD group had decreased ALFF/ReHo in both the right inferior frontal triangular gyrus and the left middle temporal gyrus. Pearson correlation analysis showed that both ALFF and ReHo values in these abnormal brain regions were positively correlated with HAMD-17 scores (P < 0.05).ConclusionAlthough the clinical symptoms were similar in the TRD and nTRD groups, abnormal neurological functional activity were present in some of the same brain regions. Compared with the nTRD group, ALFF and ReHo showed a wider range of brain area alterations and more complex neuropathological mechanisms in the TRD group, especially in the inferior frontal triangular gyrus of the frontal lobe and the middle temporal gyrus of the temporal lobe
Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite
As China's first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation
Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15,
2017, is a wide-band (1-250 keV) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy
satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 MeV. It was
designed to perform pointing, scanning and gamma-ray burst (GRB) observations
and, based on the Direct Demodulation Method (DDM), the image of the scanned
sky region can be reconstructed. Here we give an overview of the mission and
its progresses, including payload, core sciences, ground calibration/facility,
ground segment, data archive, software, in-orbit performance, calibration,
background model, observations and some preliminary results.Comment: 29 pages, 40 figures, 6 tables, to appear in Sci. China-Phys. Mech.
