    Get PDF
Modelling has become a visible tool in many disciplines including marketing and several marketing models have been constructed. These models serve their pedagogical and practical purposes in some cases. However, among the marketing models so often cited is Moorthy‟s Theoretical Modelling in Marketing. This model is important, and hence this review once more, in that it offers a starting point, and in some cases the finishing line, for those who want to tread the pedestrian of modelling in marketing. But this is not the end; it also provides an explanation for those who want to know more about modelling in general by providing answers to some basic questions about the use of models. Our discussion here will certainly bring in many people who have been peeping into marketing modelling from behind the wall.Key words: Marketing, Modelling, Moorthy, Pedagogy, Theoretica

    Get PDF
This paper discuss the implementation of an optimized remote network, using latency, bandwidth and packet drop rate as key performance indicator (KPI) to measure network performance and quality of service (QoS). We compared the network performance characteristics derived on the Wide Area Network (WAN) when using Fiber, VSAT and Point-to-Point VPN across the internet respectively as the network infrastructure. Network performance variables are measured across various links (VAST, Fiber and VPN across the internet) and the corresponding statistical data is analyzed and used as base-line for the optimization of a corporate network performance. The qualities of service offered on the network before and after optimization are analyzed and use to determine the level of improvement on the network performance achieved

    Get PDF
The effect of Zinc Oxide level as an activator on the Mechanical properties of Natural Rubber Composite was studied. It has been discovered that technicians usually add additional Zinc oxide different from the recommended dosage used in the formulation receipt during the process of compounding and also recovery of scorched compounds. One hundred parts per hundred rubber (100phr) of Natural rubber was compounded with Zinc Oxide levels of, 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10phr respectively. The effect of Zinc Oxide level on tensile strength, elongation at break, modulus, hardness, abrasion resistance and compression set were investigated. The result obtained showed that as the Zinc Oxide level increased, the tensile strength, elongation at break, modulus, hardness and compression set attained their maximum values at 5.0phr, after which there was a gradual decrease of same properties as a result of reversion. For the purpose of hardness and enhanced tensile properties, a known quantity of 5.0phr is recommended. Keywords: Activator, Composite, Mechanical properties, Natural Rubber, Zinc Oxide

    Get PDF
Managing the bandwidth of a computer network is always faced with great challenges. This research was necessitated by the urgent need to manage the University network currently experiencing congestion in both the local LA and on the internet backhaul with a view to improving network performance and reduce the huge recurrent on the WA link. However, there exists various ways that have been deployed towards solving these problems. In this paper we examined existing bandwidth management, effect of limited bandwidth on the network performance and profound solutions of techniques that enhanced or improved the bandwidth efficiency. Also, included in this research work are the studies of the effect of limited bandwidth on work load, type of protocol used and the effect of network congestion on the quality of service of a Wide Area etwork (WA). By comparison, from the modeling of the effect of work load and limited bandwidth on the throughput of a wide area network based on experimental simulation and real time simulation scenarios, some observations were made and recommendation of solutions were given from the analyzed results

Inorganic Fertilzer, Vermicompost and Water Quality Effect on Vegetable Farming Along The River Banks.

    Get PDF
Inorganic fertilizer , vermicompost and water are a  usual application on vegetable  farming  along river banks in order to boost its  production , issues however arising of interest from these three are highlighted in this work on river Benue river bank vegetable farming . Vermicompost a  heterogeneous mixture of decomposing  materials in a dust bin ( vegetables , Tea  bags , grains , bread, crackers ,  cereals  , eggshells , Leaves and grass clippings )   composting using various worms developed within it from flies  showed  that in 30 days at 20% concentration of vermicompost plot of Red pepper  (Capsicum annuum)   a  plant height of average 16.6cm was recorded  while that of chemical fertilizer showed the same  plant a height of 14.8cm . Control plot (without any application)  showed 10.9cm height . At 60 days the inorganic fertilizer applied  at 20% dose showed  29.2cm plant height and in vermicompost applied plots at the same concentration dose, 33.4cm of plant height, was the result.  Applying these products on vegetable farms using water  along the river banks of River Benue directly and indirectly  brings to attention the uncontrollable habit of settlers along river  banks especially in the refuse discharge and defeacation  which compromises the water and  the quality of products of  the farms .  Work carried out  in Delhi University in 2009 showed that the amount of fecal matter in river water  increased exponentially  as  Central Pollution Control Board CPCB  came out with its findings. The amount of Fecal coliform (FC) – bacteria (anaerobic , nonsporulating, rod-shaped bacteria that produce acid and gas from the fermentation of lactose sugar: e.g., Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, and Klebsiella pneumoniae ) available in human and animal feaces – has grown by as much as 30 times as compared to CPCB values. Vegetables grown on Yamuna bed in east and south Delhi are already known to have high FC . The work done on river Benue at intake in the greater water works  project showed the value of coliform bacteria as high as 1800  Beetseh and Adulugba (2013) .  Many millions of microorganisms ( though most are harmless  in the human intestinal tract)  are likely to carry pathogenic microbes. Coliforms are used as indicators of sewage pollution; a high coliform count usually indicates recent sewage pollution. implicating the vegetable production on the river bank  which on consumption  can bring one down with severe intestinal problems like  blood infections, stomach upsets and kidney dysfunction .The application of modern farming system innovations in the study area by the farmers will be difficult since majority of them are illiterates  Dam, P. D. ( 2012  ) especially in the use of proper toilet systems . According to the same Delhi University 2009 report mentioned earlier the probable partial solution is to allow for the growth of   water hyacinth, which  absorbs contaminants and vegetables to be repeatedly washed and  cooked. Raw vegetables on these river banks should be avoided . Keywords Vegetables , Fertilizer , River bank Vermicompost and Farming

Education, Health and Housing in Ogoni Community: Does Government or Oil Firms Intervention Matter?

    Get PDF
This paper examines the impact of interventions of government and Oil companies on the social wellbeing (education, health and housing) of Ogoni community in Niger Delta Region of Nigeria. Measurement of such impacts is an essential requirement for policy formulation and strategic planning. Primary data used in this study were collected through a survey of 400 households using a multistage sampling technique. The results reveal that government interventions in provision/renovation of school building and provision of scholarship have positive effect on school completion in the community. Making basic education free is a good policy; but if the households would need their children to be involved in income generation, such policy may fail. Thus, empowering the household heads and other working-class adult members of the household to raise enough income for the household would help the children become available to benefit from free education policy or even household-funded education
