Tuning the stochastic background of gravitational waves using the WMAP data
The cosmological bound of the stochastic background of gravitational waves is
analyzed with the aid of the WMAP data, differently from lots of works in
literature, where the old COBE data were used. From our analysis, it will
result that the WMAP bounds on the energy spectrum and on the characteristic
amplitude of the stochastic background of gravitational waves are greater than
the COBE ones, but they are also far below frequencies of the earth-based
antennas band. At the end of this letter a lower bound for the integration time
of a potential detection with advanced LIGO is released and compared with the
previous one arising from the old COBE data. Even if the new lower bound is
minor than the previous one, it results very long, thus for a possible
detection we hope in the LISA interferometer and in a further growth in the
sensitivity of advanced projects.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures, published in Modern Physics Letters A. arXiv

Analisis Faktor-faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Audit Report Lag Pada Perusahaan Yang Terdaftar Di Bursa Efek Indonesia Pada Tahun 2012
The running coupling from the four-gluon vertex in Landau gauge Yang-Mills theory
We consider the running coupling from the four-gluon vertex in Landau gauge,
SU() Yang-Mills theory as given by a combination of dressing functions of
the vertex and the gluon propagator. We determine these functions numerically
from a coupled set of Dyson-Schwinger equations. We reproduce asymptotic
freedom in the ultraviolet momentum region and find a coupling of order one at
mid-momenta. In the infrared we find a nontrivial (i.e. nonzero) fixed point
which is three orders of magnitude smaller than the corresponding fixed point
in the coupling of the ghost-gluon vertex. This result explains why the
Dyson-Schwinger and the functional renormalization group equations for the two
point functions can agree in the infrared, although their structure is quite
different. Our findings also support Zwanziger's notion of an infrared
effective theory driven by the Faddeev-Popov determinant.Comment: 25 pages, 4 figures; v2: minor clarifications added and typos

Protein-mediated DNA Loop Formation and Breakdown in a Fluctuating Environment
Living cells provide a fluctuating, out-of-equilibrium environment in which
genes must coordinate cellular function. DNA looping, which is a common means
of regulating transcription, is very much a stochastic process; the loops arise
from the thermal motion of the DNA and other fluctuations of the cellular
environment. We present single-molecule measurements of DNA loop formation and
breakdown when an artificial fluctuating force, applied to mimic a fluctuating
cellular environment, is imposed on the DNA. We show that loop formation is
greatly enhanced in the presence of noise of only a fraction of , yet
find that hypothetical regulatory schemes that employ mechanical tension in the
DNA--as a sensitive switch to control transcription--can be surprisingly robust
due to a fortuitous cancellation of noise effects
Elliptic Phases: A Study of the Nonlinear Elasticity of Twist-Grain Boundaries
We develop an explicit and tractable representation of a twist-grain-boundary
phase of a smectic A liquid crystal. This allows us to calculate the
interaction energy between grain boundaries and the relative contributions from
the bending and compression deformations. We discuss the special stability of
the 90 degree grain boundaries and discuss the relation of this structure to
the Schwarz D surface.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
Achieving Sustainable Community Development Projects Through Community Participation in Rivers State, Nigeria
This study examined the extent to which community participation was used in the achievement of sustainable community development projects in Rivers State, Nigeria. Two research questions and one null hypothesis guided the study. The descriptive survey research design was adopted in the study, with a population of 1111 respondents comprising community leaders and youth members in two local government areas of the state. The sample of 333 respondents made up of 116 community leaders and 217 youth members was drawn from the study population using the stratified random sampling technique. An 18- item structured questionnaire weighted on a 4-point rating scale was the data collecting instrument that was used in the study and validated by two expert colleagues in adult education. The reliability index of .89 was obtained in a test-retest method using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The research questions were answered using the means and the t-test statistic was used to test the null hypothesis at the probability level of 5%. Findings of the study showed that community participation was rarely felt in community development projects in Rivers State as their inputs are most often not sought before embarking on projects. The study further identified as some of the contributing factors to community participation in community development projects in Rivers State as high rate of poverty, ignorance, lack of transparency and corruption. The null hypothesis was accepted, an indication that significant difference was not found between the mean responses of community leaders and youth members regarding the extent to which community participation has contributed in the achievement of sustainable community development projects in Rivers State. It was recommended among others that community members should be represented in the planning and implementation of projects in the state. Mutu Bakso Ikan Ekor Kuning (Caesio Cuning) Dengan Penambahan Rebung (Dendrocalamus Asper)
This study aims to get the exact formulation of the slurry shoots with yellowtail fish meat in the manufacture of composite flour meatballs using sago starch and tapioca starch as a filler. The expected benefits of this research is the improve of the nutritional value of the meatballs with the addition of bamboo shoots and increase the diversity of fishery product processing and dissemination of fish balls. The method used in this research is completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment in this study is P1 (25% bamboo shoots : 35% yellowtail fish), P2 (20% bamboo shoots : 40% yellowtail fish), P3 (15% bamboo shoots : 45% yellowtail fish), P4 (10% bamboo shoots : 50% yellowtail fish), P5 (5% bamboo shoots : 55% yellowtail fish). The results of this study showed that the addition ratio of shoots on yellowtail fish balls significant effect on water content, fiber content and protein levels as well as color, aroma, flavor and texture of the meatballs are descriptive, but no effect was not apparent to the hedonic test on the attributes of color, texture and an overall assessment. The best treatment is P1 (25% bamboo shoots : 35% yellowtail fish)
