    Prepotential approach to quasinormal modes

In this paper we demonstrate how the recently reported exactly and quasi-exactly solvable models admitting quasinormal modes can be constructed and classified very simply and directly by the newly proposed prepotential approach. These new models were previously obtained within the Lie-algebraic approach. Unlike the Lie-algebraic approach, the prepotential approach does not require any knowledge of the underlying symmetry of the system. It treats both quasi-exact and exact solvabilities on the same footing, and gives the potential as well as the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues simultaneously. We also present three new models with quasinormal modes: a new exactly solvable Morse-like model, and two new quasi-exactly solvable models of the Scarf II and generalized P\"oschl-Teller types.Comment: 12 pages, no figure. Cohomology of Jordan triples via Lie algebras

    Get PDF
We develop a cohomology theory for Jordan triples, including the infinite dimensional ones, by means of the cohomology of TKK Lie algebras. This enables us to apply Lie cohomological results to the setting of Jordan triples. Some preliminary results for von Neumann algebras are obtained.Comment: 27 pages, to appear in: Topics in Functional Analysis and Algebra, Proceedings of a special session of the USA-Uzbekistan Conference on Analysis and Mathematical Physics, CSU Fullerton, May 20-23, 2014, Contemporary Mathematics, 201

Storage and Retrieval of Thermal Light in Warm Atomic Vapor

We report slowed propagation and storage and retrieval of thermal light in warm rubidium vapor using the effect of electromagnetically-induced transparency (EIT). We first demonstrate slowed-propagation of the probe thermal light beam through an EIT medium by measuring the second-order correlation function of the light field using the Hanbury-Brown-Twiss interferometer. We also report an experimental study on the effect of the EIT slow-light medium on the temporal coherence of thermal light. Finally, we demonstrate the storage and retrieval of thermal light beam in the EIT medium. The direct measurement of the photon number statistics of the retrieved light field shows that the photon number statistics is preserved during the storage and retrieval process.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
