Computer Programs Supporting the Teaching of Statistics

    Get PDF
During the past few years there has been an increasing interest in developing computer packages to enhance the teaching of elementary statistics. The conventional ways of teaching statistics have used such devices as desk calculators, tables of functions, short-cut calculating formulas and electronic calculators, etc. to manipulate the involved computations. Electronic computers, in the past decade, have been broadly used in universities and colleges in many ways. It is only natural to extend the use of computers to the teaching function. Remote terminals can now be installed in any classroom and bring the computer to the students

ISOKINETIC EVALUATION OF SHOULDER INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ROTATORS STRENGTH AND ENDURANCE IN FOUR LEVELS OFSCHOOL-AGED BASEBALL PLAYERS

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to compare strength and endurance differences in shoulder external and internal rotation torque ratios among four levels of school-aged baseball players, The subjects (N=97) were assessed the strength and endurance strength of shoulder internal and external rotation muscles with Kin Com dynamometer. The functional scapular plane of shoulder movement was used as the testing position, Strength development of IR and ER generally varied with school-aged increased, Comparing with adult pitchers, adolescence and pre-adolescence baseball pitchers had relatively weak shoulder external rotation muscles, especially after high repetition muscle contraction. In order to prevent shoulder injury in adolescence and pre-adolescence baseball throwers, muscle endurance in shoulder external rotators must be emphasized

A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO DEVELOP ENGINEERING PROGRAMME OUTCOMES: A CASE STUDY OF TAYLOR'S UNIVERSITY

    Get PDF
Part fulfilment of providing an engineering programme which implements outcome based education includes various outcomes that are tied to what the graduate should achieve after, during and before graduation. The programme outcomes are specifically crafted to encapsulate attributes that must be attained by a student upon graduation. The following paper details the principles used to craft the programme outcomes of an engineering undergraduate degree programme. The principles used were chosen based its importance and innovative content as well as being aligned to the purpose of the university which is running the degree programme. Upon crafting the prescribed outcomes, the paper will also detail how stakeholders were engaged and how their opinion was accounted for in the final crafting of the new set of programme outcomes. The paper also highlights how a gap analysis was performed to capture areas which were not covered by the previous programme outcomes

KINETIC ANALYSIS OF THE UPPER EXTREMITY BETWEEN DIFFERENT STANCES IN TENNIS TWO-HANDED BACKHAND

INTRODUCTION: Now the tennis players could explore more racket capabilities through the change of racket materials and design. The open stance comes out in modern tennis relative to the traditional square stance. This study was conducted to analyze the upper extremity joint forces and moments between the different stances in advanced and intermediate athletes, who separated from ITN rating system, during two-handed stroke
