COMPUTATIONAL ANALYSIS OF NARINGENIN AS AN ANTIDEPRESSANT

    Get PDF
Objective: This works aims at analyzing the potential of Naringenin (NAR) as an antidepressant drug by computational methods. Methods: The database Protein Data Bank and PubChem were used to retrieve the three-dimensional structures of the protein and the compound. The software Discovery Studio was used to study the interactions between the protein and the ligand. Results: NAR, one of the flavanone, which has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, is studied for its antidepressant and neuroprotective effects through in silico approach. Interaction study and pharmacophore analysis using Discovery Studio show that the molecule NAR interacts with the protein at different sites. The interaction has a maximum dock score at position B. Conclusion: The compound NAR shows to have antidepressant quality from the computational study. The docking studies show promising result that NAR can be explored further as a potential drug

The female of a copepod parasite, Peroderma tasselum sp. nov. parasitic on the fish Stolephorus commersonil is described from Tuticorin, southeast coast of India. The species can be distinguished from the only other known species of the genus, P. cylindricum, by the characteristic shape of the trunk

COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGICAL STUDY OF ARAOMATASE INHIBITORS DOCKING WITH HUMAN PLACENTAL AROMATASE CYTOCHROME P450

    Get PDF
Objective: In this current study the pharmacophore of ├В┬аaromatase inhibitor drugs and tamoxifen, is predicted and is docked with human placental aromatase cytochrome P450Methods: The tools and software used are Protein Data BanK, to retrieve the structure of the protein; pubchem compound database, to retrieve the chemical structure of the aromatase inhibitors; pharmacophore analysis and the docking analysis using Discovery Studio2.0.Results: ├В┬аThe results show that all the drugs are more favorable to bind with arginine (Arg) amino acid present in the active site of the protein. Letrozole shows good binding affinity with active site of the protein. Conclusion: Among the four drugs, Letrozole shows more dock score of 76.566kcal/mol with internal energy of -9.759. On the other hand, tamoxifen shows least dock score of 48.494 kcal/mol having internal energy of -4.987. Thus, the docking study reveals that aromatase inhibitors drugs are more effective than tamoxifen for treating postmenopausal in women

Microwave-Assisted Extraction of Rare Earth Elements from Petroleum Refining Catalysts and Ambient Fine Aerosols Prior to Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry

In the absence of a certified reference material, a robust microwave-assisted acid digestion procedure followed by inductively coupled plasma - mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was developed to quantify rare earth elements (REEs) in fluidized-bed catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts and atmospheric fine particulate matter (PM2.5). High temperature (200 C), high pressure (200 psig), acid digestion (HNO3, HF, and H3BO3) with 20 minute dwell time effectively solubilized REEs from six fresh catalysts, a spent catalyst, and PM2.5. This method was also employed to measure 27 non-REEs including Na, Mg, Al, Si, K, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Zr, Mo, Cd, Cs, Ba, Pb, and U. Complete extraction of several REEs (Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Tb, Dy, and Er) required HF indicating that they were closely associated with the aluminosilicate structure of the zeolite FCC catalysts. Internal standardization using 115In quantitatively corrected non-spectral interferences in the catalyst digestate matrix. Inter-laboratory comparison using ICP-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) demonstrated the applicability of the newly developed analytical method for accurate analysis of REEs in FCC catalysts. The method developed for FCC catalysts was also successfully implemented to measure trace to ultra-trace concentrations of La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Eu, and Dy in ambient PM2.5 in an industrial area of Houston, TX

Study on the stomach contents of pearl oyster Pinctada fucata (Gould) with reference to the inclusion of bivalve eggs and larvae

The pearl oyster which is a filter-feeder as any other bivalve mollusc, has been considered to feed On phytoplankton including detritus. A detailed study made on the feeding of pearl oyster Pinctada fucata collected from the pearl culture farm as well as natural beds showed the presence of bivalve eggs and larvae along with copepods and crustacean larvae, spicules of sponges, etc. Several samples of oysters collected at different periods of 1977 and 1978 gave the same results indicating that this is a regular feature

    Pearl culture

Pearl culture gives the highest gross income for unit area among aquaculture systems. The techniques developed by CMFRI to suit Indian condition have attracted the entrepreneurs to enter into the venture of pearl culture. The rate of return works out to more than 50%. The recent line of research on the onshore pearl oyster farming and pearl culture, can easily revolutionize the concept and this can be profitably taken up in the east and west coasts of India where prawn farming was successfully conducted. In this paper the cost of seed production and economics of pearl production is dealt with The possibilities of taking up production of seed of desired qualities through selective breeding, manipulation of conditions in the onshore tanks culture are counted as priorities. Black pearl production and farming and pearl culture in the natural beds are the other priorities

India is one in the countries in the World having pearl oyster resource. The oysters are available in the Gulf of Mannar (southeast coast) in large number and ill the Gulf of Kutch northwest coast in lesser numbers. From time immemorial the oysters from thes regions were fished for natural pearls. The famed "Oriental pearls" of the ancient times were the pearls produced from here and the Middle-East Asia
