CPM Training Waveforms With Autocorrelation Sidelobes Close to Zero

    Get PDF
Continuous phase modulation (CPM) plays an important role in wireless communications due to its constant envelope signal property and tight spectrum confinement capability. Although CPM has been studied for many years, CPM training waveforms having autocorrelations with zero sidelobes have not been reported before, to the best of our knowledge. Existing works on the CPM system design mostly assume that the channel fading coefficients are either perfectly known at the receiver or estimated using random CPM training waveforms. In this correspondence paper, we propose a novel class of CPM training waveforms displaying autocorrelation sidelobes close to zero. The key idea of our construction is to apply differential encoding to Golay complementary pair having perfect aperiodic autocorrelation sum properties

This article may be used for non-commercial purposes in accordance with Wiley Terms and Conditions for Use of Self-Archived Versions.Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a promising material for functionalization of textiles. It can add a range of functionalities, including UV protection, antimicrobial activity, flame retardancy, hydrophobicity and electrical conductivity. Commercialization of ZnO – coated textiles is still limited due to the cost and challenges related to their manufacture. Moreover, making robust coatings on textiles and measuring their thickness is also challenging. In this work, atmospheric-pressure spatial atomic layer deposition (AP-SALD) systems are utilized for the first time to coat synthetic spun-bond polypropylene (PP) and natural cotton fabrics with ZnO. The coatings are found to be conformal and uniform, forming complete shells around the fabric fibers. The growth rate is measured to be ~0.24 nm/cycle using an in-situ reflectance setup and Virtual Interface (VI) model, which enable precise control of the coating thickness. The coatings are shown to provide UV-protection and render cotton fabric hydrophobic. No damage is observed after washing, linear abrasion, adhesion, twisting and bending tests, indicating that the coatings are robust. Aerosol-penetration tests indicate the coatings do not impact the filtering efficiency of fabrics used in N95 respirators. The results are encouraging for industrialization of the AP-SALD technique for functional textiles. The polypropylene fabrics were provided by Eclipse Automation. Abstract: This work assumes that local oscillators in individual transceivers are not identical. A difference in the drift of oscillator gives rise to a difference in pulse repetition rate between transmitter and receiver. This drift will be estimated in the paper. The performance of a proposed Automated Gain Control (AGC) circuit to stabilize the gain of a time tracking loop is also investigated. Thus this work is on estimating the received signal amplitude, the initial offset and frame frequency differences between a pair of UWB impulse transceiver and the results will be useful for applications such as time transfer and synchronization

This thesis analyzes the impact of Confucius Institute on China’s soft power from the angle of the way to enhance soft power, cultural diplomacy and the problems which Confucius Institute are facing. Countries all along the world have been using Soft Power as a measure of national strength and international status of a major standard since the theory was created by Joseph Nye. The Chinese government popularizes Chinese cultural, improves China’s image and Soft Power through the establishment of Confucius Institutes. We will learn the influential of official cultural diplomacy through the comparison with the United State of America public pop culture. Besides, the impact of Confucius Institutes on China’s soft power is also introduced in this thesis from the aspect of Confucius Institute’s courses provided. Confucius Institutes have the advantages in professional language and cultural teaching under the promotion of Chinese government. However, they are also facing some disadvantages for example the China Treat Theory, the shortage of teaching staff and capital, and the lack of experiences.Bachelor of Art

Effects of Dietary Supplementation with Astaxanthin on Histamine Induced Lesions in the Gizzard and Proventriculus of Broiler Chicks

Astaxanthin (ASX) is a xanthophyll pigment isolated from crustaceans and salmonids. Owing to its powerful antioxidant activity, ASX has been reported to have the potential to protect against gastric ulcers and a variety of other illnesses. Histamine (His) is a dietary factor that causes gastric erosion and ulceration in young chicks. In this study, we examined whether ASX had protective effects on dietary histamine-induced lesions in the gizzard and proventriculus of broiler chickens. Four experimental treatment groups were planned: basal diet (BD), BD+His, BD+ASX, and BD+ASX+His, with four chicks (5 days old) in each group and three replications (i.e., a total of 12 chicks per group). The BD was supplemented with either 0.4% His or 100 ppm ASX. The birds were fed ad libitum for 3 weeks, and diets contained no antimicrobial compounds. Supplementing the diet with His significantly decreased body weight gain, but increased the weights of the gizzard and proventriculus of the chicks as compared with those of chicks in the BD group (p<0.05). ASX did not affect His-dependent changes in chick body weight or weights of the gizzard and proventriculus. The loss of gastric glands in the proventriculus, which was observed in His-treated chicks, was not prevented by ASX administration. The frequency of proventricular ulceration, however, was lowered by treatment with ASX, without significant differences between the two supplementation levels. In conclusion, our data showed that ASX might be helpful for alleviating structural damage to the digestive system in poultry under certain stressful conditions

A study on reconstruction of linear scrambler using dual words of channel encoder

    No full text
In this paper, the reconstruction of the feedback polynomial as well as the initial state of a linear feedback shift register (LFSR) in a synchronous scrambler placed after a channel encoder is studied. The study is first based on the assumption that the channel is noiseless and then extended to the noisy channel condition. The dual words, which are orthogonal to the codewords generated by the channel encoder, are used in the reconstruction algorithm. The number of bits required by the new algorithm is compared with another recently proposed algorithm and results show that the number of bits required to do the reconstruction can be significantly reduced
