    Negara Malaysia merupakan sebuah negara bangsa yang mempunyai penduduk yang berbilang kaum, keturunan, budaya, bahasa ibunda dan agama. Oleh demikian masalah perpaduan dan integrasi nasional menjadi isu yang paling kritikal dalam usaha membangunkan negara ke status negara maju.     Wawasan 2020 menyasarkan pembangunan Malaysia mencapai status negara maju menjelang tahun 2020. Pentakrifan negara maju oleh Pertubuhan Bangsa-bangsa Bersatu (PBB) ialah keadaan apabila majoriti penduduknya menikmati taraf hidup yang tinggi, iaitu dengan HDI (Human Development Index) kadar 0.800 ke atas yang diukur berdasarkan indeks kesihatan (berdasarkan jangka hayat), indeks pendidikan (berdasarkan jumlah tahun persekolahan) dan indeks pendapatan (berdasarkan GNI per kapita). Dalam kertas ini akan dibincangkan konsep dan tahap pembangunan dan kemajuan negara, konsep pembangunan negara secara ekuitabel, perancangan bahasa demi pembangunan negara, dasar bahasa di Malaysia dan isu perpaduan dan pembangunan negara secara ekuitabel, akibat daripada penggunaan bahasa Inggeris sebagai bahasa pengantar pendidikan, sains dan teknologi di negara membangun, politik dan propaganda keunggulan bahasa Inggeris dan tamadun barat ke atas dunia global, dan penyampaian dan pembudayaan ilmu dan teknologi dalam bahasa kebangsaan demi pembangunan negara dan sumber daya tenaga manusia yang ekuitabel dan menyeluruh

    A REVIEW OF CLINICAL LEGAL EDUCATION’S (CLE) EXPERIENCE IN UNIVERSITI SAINS ISLAM MALAYSIA

    Various research has given valuable insights into the positive role of Clinical Legal Education (CLE). However, there is a dearth of empirical data reviewing the set-up of CLE in public law schools in Malaysia and assessing its role as a teaching and learning strategy in legal education. This paper summarises the development and structure of the Faculty of Syariah and Law's Legal Clinic pilot initiative at the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). It assesses the impacts of the initiative on students' learning experience. The assessment involved a content analysis of written feedback given by a batch of pioneer students selected to join the FSU Legal Clinics pilot project in 2019. The findings indicated that the students believe exposure to the legal clinic increases their comprehension of the law's application and provides awareness of the professional skills and values involved in the legal profession. The sample is small, and the findings are preliminary. However, it is hoped that the results will inform legal curriculum developers of the benefits that law students derived from their clinical experience and provide a basis for further research into formally including clinical legal education in the FSU legal curriculum. This paper also advocates that although setting up, planning and organising activities for a successful legal clinic involved a great deal of preparation, it would benefit students and be integral to teaching and learning strategy in legal education in FSU USIM

    Kajian ini merupakan penelitian aspek retorik dalam titah ucapan KDYMM Sultan Muhammad V, Sultan Kelantan ke-29. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti teknik retorik dalam teks rasmi diraja, untuk menganalisis dan menghuraikan aspek penggunaan kosa kata, kekuatan dan keberkesanan seni pengucapan Sultan Muhammad V. Data kajian ini dianalisis secara kuantitatif untuk meneliti peratusan penggunaan teknik retorik, dan secara kualitatif, iaitu dengan huraian deskriptif teks berlandaskan prinsip ketiga teori retorik moden Enos dan Brown (1993), iaitu untuk memberikan kesan mendalam terhadap ujaran atau penulisan. Sebanyak 251 ayat telah dicerakinkan daripada tiga teks ucapan, di samping terdapat 27 jenis teknik retorik yang telah dikenal pasti dengan ditandai ungkapan tertentu berdasarkan kategori Lakuan Bahasa. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa Sultan Muhammad V menggunakan beberapa elemen retorik dalam titah ucapannya, iaitu aliterasi, polisindeton, repitisi, soalan retorik, metafora, simile, alusi, dan kosa kata asing daripada bahasa Inggeris dan bahasa Arab.     AbstractHalal cosmetic and toiletry industries have great potential to drive the Halal economy. In view of branding Halal cosmetics, it would be more effective to position Halal values to new insights for championing the Halal economy. The persistence of this paper is to identify the factors considered in making decision to consume cosmetic product. Focus groups are used to collect a broad qualitative understanding of perceptions from two different groups of respondents in relation to success factors. Additionally, it is to investigate and gathers the information regarding the issues that attribute Halal brands for cosmetics products and to classify the difference and similarity of opinion and suggestion from the young adult Muslim female groups from the urban area (Klang Valley). There are two groups of respondents, group A (user) among those who are using Halal cosmetic product, group B (non-user) among those who are not using halal cosmetic product. The outcomes of the findings link directly to the design of learning activities and the future direction of the research

    The Malay civilisation in the past, located in the Malay Archipelago, was a maritime civilisation, being strategically situated midway between the trade sea routes of the western and eastern trading nations. Centres of population and government were found in the major city ports of the region. The variation of the monsoonal winds that blow from the west to the east during summer months and from the east to the west during the winter months, helped to bring ships from different regions. A lull in the wind between the seasons forced the ships to stay put at the harbour which gave traders ample apportunities to trade their goods. Naturally ships plied important roles in such maritime trading atmosphere and the Malays from earlier times had been using various ship classes to fulfill those activities. In this article a description of various ships classes used by the Malay maritime traders will be discussed, namely the big ocean-going ships, the medium size ships that plied the seas and straits within the Malay Archipelago, and the smaller boats that were used along the coasts and rivers

    Background:   International Islamic University Malaysia has pioneered the model of Islamic Input into Medical Program (IIMP). This is part of the main objective to enhance the affective domain in our curriculum. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of IIMP programme, it is important to an assessment tool. Once Kulliyyah is able to prove the effectiveness of IIMP, it is hope IIUM Kulliyyah of Medicine would be a role model in development of Islamic Medical Curriculum. At the moment there is not a single medical Islamic scale available. This we hope will be the pioneer of all.   Objectives:   To invent new questionnaires called MDQ & MMSQ that will be reliable and validated for the Muslim doctors and medical students respectively. To assess the good Muslim values in various academic years. To assess pre- and post- input of Islamic curriculum   Knowledge, Attitude, & Practice aspects on these domains;   Religiosity, Aqidah – (knowledge, practice) Knowledge of Relevant Medical Fiqh (knowledge), Ibadah (Rukhsah) Communication Skill – (attitude, practice) Behavior Professionalism Clinical Competence. Islamic Ethics, Islamic Medical Jurisprudence, Outward Manifestation Sincerity, Akhlak Morality, Confidentiality   Results; A total of 468 participants among students;. Reliability; Cronbach’s alpha of 0.91 and 8 domains were identified by using explanatory factor analysis with Varimax rotation. Validity; From items, 75% had good factor loading (>0.4). Therefore these 2 questionnaires are valid and reliable
