Background: The inspiratory parameters of pulmonary function test commonly used for various purposes in clinical practice including diagnosing airway obstruction. Expiratory portion of the flow volume loop of the pulmonary function test is studied in detail. The prediction equations for expiratory parameters are available for different population. However, the reference equation for inspiratory parameters is not available in Indian context. The current study derived the prediction equation for inspiratory parameters of pulmonary function test. Methods: The current study was carried out in school going 732 healthy girls and 1377 boys aged 6-15 years in India.  The children who meet the inclusion criteria were recruited in the study after detailed medical examination by registered medical practitioner. The lung function parameters were recorded by spirometry. The multivariate regression analysis was done to develop the prediction model. Results: The prediction equation for predicting inspiratory parameter were developed. This study revealed gender-wise and geographical variation in the inspiratory parameters. Hence this study recommends to derive gender wise prediction equations. The reference equations derived in this study can be used in population with similar background. Conclusions: Use of these equations for population having similar backgrounds will help for early and accurate diagnosis of the airway abnormalities in children. The inspiratory parameter assessment shall be included in the routine assessment of respiratory patient

The present work was to study the anti-inflammatory activity of Coccinia indica Wight and Arn fruits belonging to family Cucurbitaceae. The fruit powder of C. indica was subjected to successive extraction with petroleum ether, chloroform, ethanol and water in a Soxhlet extractor. The ethanol extract after preliminary phytochemical investigation shown the presence of glycosides, triterpenoids, flavonoids, tannins and phenolic compounds. The anti-inflammatory activity was studied using carrageenan-induced rat paw oedema and cotton pellet granuloma at three different doses (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg b.w. p.o.) of each extract. The ethanol extract of C. indica fruits exhibited significant anti-inflammatory activity at the dose of 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg in both models when compared with control group. Indomethacin (10 mg/kg b.w. p.o) also showed significant anti-inflammatory activity in both models.Colegio de Farmacéuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aire

Web visibility and research productivity of NIRF ranked universities in India: A Webometric study

This study aims to examine the website analysis of top 15 Indian universities ranked in NIRF (National Institutes Ranking Framework). The study focused on research productivity and webometric analysis which examine the domain, domain age, external and internal links, whereas all three types of web impacts of all respondent websites have been analysed. Study also examine usage of websites by stakeholder from inside and outside the country. For measuring research productivity of the respondent’s universities, researchers has approached the Scopus database and analysed the no. of papers published, total citations received and h-index of respondent’s universities. The present study used various tools like ahrefs SEO, Alexa for collection of the data and examines websites of universities of India covered in this study. Findings revealed that Anna University’s website having a highest page authority score that is 59 out of a total of 100. It was found from the study that “Anna University” having a highest web traffic, backlinks and referring domains whereas University of Delhi’s website achieved first Alexa traffic global rank while Savitribai Phule Pune University’s website achieved 1st Alexa traffic Indian rank. It was also found from the study that Bharathiar University’s website achieved first position in all three web impact factors SWIF, IWIF and EWIF. It is observed from the findings that highest research produced by Indian Institute of Science followed by University of Delhi and Manipal Academy of Higher Education.. Stabilization of cutinase by covalent attachment on magnetic nanoparticles and improvement of its catalytic activity by ultrasonication

This paper reports on stabilization of serine cutinase activity by immobilizing it through cross linking with glutaraldehyde on magnetic nanoparticles (Fe-NPs) and intensification of catalytic activity by ultrasonic treatment. The optimum parameters were cross linking with 10.52 mM glutaraldehyde for 90 min using 1:2 (w/w) ratio of enzyme:Fe-NPs. The characterization of cutinase-Fe-NPs was done by different instrumental analysis. Ultrasonic power showed a beneficial effect on the activity of free and immobilized cutinase at 5.76 and 7.63 W, respectively, after 12 min. Immobilization and ultrasonic treatment led to increments in kinetic parameters (K m and V max ) along with noticeable changes in the secondary structural fractions of cutinase. Cutinase-Fe-NPs showed augmented pH (4–8) and thermal stability (40–60 °C). Considerably higher thermal inactivation kinetic constants (k d , t 1/2 and D-value) and thermodynamic constants (E d , ΔH°, ΔG° and ΔS°) highlighted superior thermostability of cutinase-Fe-NPs. Cutinase-Fe-NPs and ultrasound treated cutinase-Fe-NPs retained 61.88% and 38.76% activity during 21-day storage, and 82.82 and 80.69% activity after fifth reusability cycle, respectively.Peer reviewe

Not AvailableRust and late leaf spot (LLS) resistance sources involving Arachis batizocoi, A. duranensis, A. cardenasii and A. sps Manfredi‐5 were identified from field evaluation of interspecific derivatives (IDs) of groundnut in a disease nursery for two seasons. Although the sources displayed low levels of resistance compared to currently cultivated lines, they contribute allele diversity in groundnut breeding that has so far relied on alleles contributed from A. cardenasii for disease resistance. Multiple disease‐resistant and agronomically superior IDs, ICGVs 11379, 10121, 10179, 05097, 02411 and 00248 involving A. batizocoi, A. duranensis and A. cardenasii can be used in breeding for groundnut improvement. Genetic variability for resistance to rust and LLS, yield and nutritional quality traits was influenced by genotype, environment and genotype × environment interaction effects in individual and pooled analyses. In case of FAD (fatty acid desaturase)‐mutant alleles that govern high oleic trait, allele mining of IDs (110) showed that frequency of mutation in ahFAD2B is rare, whereas of ahFAD2A is common. High oleic lines were not detected among the IDs.Not Availabl
