Gain Enhancement of a Wide Slot Antenna Using a Second-Order Bandpass Frequency Selective Surface
Gain enhancement of a wide slot antenna over a wide frequency band using a low profile, second order bandpass frequency selective surface (FSS) as a superstrate is presented in this paper. The proposed multilayered FSS with non-resonant unit cells in each layer allows in-phase transmission of waves radiated from the antenna over a 3dB bandwidth of about 50%. The design allows an enhancement of upto 4dBi in the antenna gain over the entire frequency band (5-8GHz) of operation. The FSS provides a very low insertion loss between the two transmission poles along with a linearly decreasing transmission phase over the band. The composite structure shows an impedance bandwidth (-10dB) of 65% with an average gain between 6-8dBi over the frequency band with a peak gain of 9dBi. Measurement results of the fabricated prototype matches well with the predicted values
Money in Gas-Like Markets: Gibbs and Pareto Laws
We consider the ideal-gas models of trading markets, where each agent is
identified with a gas molecule and each trading as an elastic or
money-conserving (two-body) collision. Unlike in the ideal gas, we introduce
saving propensity of agents, such that each agent saves a fraction
of its money and trades with the rest. We show the steady-state money
or wealth distribution in a market is Gibbs-like for , has got a
non-vanishing most-probable value for and Pareto-like when
is widely distributed among the agents. We compare these results with
observations on wealth distributions of various countries.Comment: 4 pages, 2 eps figures, in Conference Procedings of International

Reentrant spin glass state in Mn doped Ni2MnSn shape memory alloy
The ground state properties of the ferromagnetic shape memory alloy of
nominal composition Ni2Mn1.36Sn0.64 have been studied by dc magnetization and
ac susceptibility measurements. Like few other Ni-Mn based alloys, this sample
exhibits exchange bias phenomenon. The observed exchange bias pinning was found
to originate right from the temperature where a step-like anomaly is present in
the zero-field-cooled magnetization data. The ac susceptibility study indicates
the onset of spin glass freezing near this step-like anomaly with clear
frequency shift. The sample can be identified as a reentrant spin glass with
both ferromagnetic and glassy phases coexisting together at low temperature at
least in the field-cooled state. The result provides us an comprehensive view
to identify the magnetic character of various Ni-Mn-based shape memory alloys
with competing magnetic interactions.Comment: 5 figure
Microeconomics of the ideal gas like market models
We develop a framework based on microeconomic theory from which the ideal gas
like market models can be addressed. A kinetic exchange model based on that
framework is proposed and its distributional features have been studied by
considering its moments. Next, we derive the moments of the CC model (Eur.
Phys. J. B 17 (2000) 167) as well. Some precise solutions are obtained which
conform with the solutions obtained earlier. Finally, an output market is
introduced with global price determination in the model with some necessary
modifications.Comment: 15pp. Revised & a reference added. An appeal in Appendix-annex
