Targeted Marketing: Lessons from an Agri-Tourism Enterprise
Marketing is a top concern for many Extension specialists and for our audiences. Whether we\u27re selling our own programs or helping producers and growers sell their products, we need to understand marketing basics and how to apply them in the field. University of Vermont researchers analyzed marketing methods used by an agri-tourism enterprise to better understand which marketing methods are most effective in different circumstances. The results led to a new hypothesis that has the potential to help Extension personnel identify appropriate marketing methods for specific products

Anti-gravity Treadmill Training with 19-year-old Soccer Player Status Post-leukemia
The purpose of this case report was to describe the effects of anti-gravity treadmill training, in addition to standard treatment protocol, on endurance performance in a 19-year-old female collegiate soccer player following chemotherapy treatment for leukemia.
Physical therapy rehabilitation of patients who are experiencing chemotherapy-related fatigue may benefit from anti-gravity treadmill training. This case report not only identifies a successful outcoming using such intervention but also introduces a more aggressive approach to treatment for a patient whose goals included going back to play division one sports. The patient was not only able to reach her goals of being able to perform activities of daily living but also make significant improvements in other skills required to play her sport such as improvements in balance, coordination, and agility.https://soar.usa.edu/flsafall2018/1002/thumbnail.jp

Agritourism: Challenges and opportunities for the rural future
In the ever-changing economies of tourism, individual-led efforts such as agritourism have the potential to bring social and economic benefit to rural destinations, building more resilient communities. In post-COVID tourism, this is especially true as travelers find comfort in outdoor, physically-distanced activities. However, few large-scale studies have explored the qualities of successful agritourism operations and their perceived barriers, challenges, and successes.
In this presentation, we share the results of a 2019 national survey of agritourism operators throughout the US. The survey questions built on results from qualitative research on agritourism and were focused on products and activities offered, operator motivations, challenges and successes, and perceived economic performance. The survey responses gave insight into the positive outlook for agritourism in the United States. In our proposed 15-minute presentation, we will report on on these findings and conclude with implications for future research, policy and outreach favoring rural tourism operators

Green Certification for Tourism Travel: Comparing Pilot Program Participants and NonParticipants
Abstract
Tourism travel can have significant environmental and social impacts. A pilot certification program for the motorcoach industry was conducted between 2009 and 2011 to increase awareness of the motorcoach as a relatively sustainable form of tourism travel and to promote efficiency and environmental sustainability in the industry. To gauge the impact of this effort, surveys of motorcoach company leaders were conducted at the beginning and conclusion of the program. Comparisons of program participants and the general motorcoach population (nonparticipants) indicated few changes in familiarity with and attitudes towards sustainable practices over the course of the program for either group, though nonparticipant company leaders exhibited slightly more negative attitudes for some items. The percentage of participant companies engaging in sustainable practices increased markedly, while relatively small changes in company behaviors occurred among the nonparticipant group. Findings suggest that the pilot certification program may have contributed to increasing environmental sustainability among participants
