    The relationship between the anomalous transmission and the negative extintion in the symmetrical Bragg case near the absorption edge is studied in detail. The negative extinction results from the anomalous transmission and takes the largest value when the diffraction is induced only by the imaginary part of the atomic scattering factor near the absorption edge. The appearance of the negative extinction also depends on temperature, which can be used for the identification of the theoretical model for calculating the Debye-Waller factor.Podrobno se razmatra odnos anomalne transmisije i negativnog gašenja za simetričan Braggov slucaj.     Fatty acid analysis reveals the trophic interactions among organisms in the Zhelin Bay Marine Ranch

    The fatty acid composition in organisms can reflect the trophic level, feeding habits, and utilization of local resources. In the present study, the living resources of different functional areas (artificial reef area, shellfish area, macroalgae area) in the Zhelin Bay Marine Ranch were investigated, and fatty acid analysis was used to elucidate the trophic relations across the food web. The results showed that 22:6ω3 FA (docosahexaenoic acid, DHA), 20:5ω3 FA (eicosapentaenoic acid, EPA), 16:1ω7 FA, and 16:0 FA are fatty acid biomarkers that distinguish carnivorous, omnivorous, and herbivorous organisms. The ratios of DHA/EPA, polyunsaturated fatty acids/saturated fatty acids (PUFA/SFA), and sum of ω3 fatty acids/sum of ω6 fatty acids (Σω3/Σω6) can be used as an important basis to assess the trophic level and feeding habits of organisms. In the comparison of the food web structure of different functional areas, the DHA/EPA ratio of carnivorous organisms in the Artificial Reef area was higher than that in other functional areas due to the abundant living resources, indicating that the food web of the Artificial Reef area presents lower stability to cope with perturbations. Furthermore, MixSIAR was used to quantitatively estimate the diet composition of consumers in the Zhelin Bay Marine Ranch based on their fatty acids. The results of the present study are a valuable contribution to understanding the trophic relationships in the Zhelin Bay Marine Ranch and provide theoretical support for future planning and construction of marine ranches

    Highly efficient mixed-metal spinel cobaltite electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction

    Cation substitution in spinel cobaltites (e.g., ACo2O4, in which A = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, or Zn) is a promising strategy to precisely modulate their electronic structure/properties and thus im-prove the corresponding electrochemical performance for water splitting. However, the fun-damental principles and mechanisms are not fully understood. This research aims to systemat-ically investigate the effects of cation substitution in spinel cobaltites derived from mixed-metal-organic frameworks on the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Among the obtained ACo2O4 catalysts, FeCo2O4 showed excellent OER performance with a current density of 10 mAcm–2 at an overpotential of 164 mV in alkaline media. Both theoretical calculations and ex-perimental results demonstrate that the Fe substitution in the crystal lattice of ACo2O4 can sig-nificantly accelerate charge transfer, thereby achieving enhanced electrochemical properties. The crystal field of spinel ACo2O4, which determines the valence states of cations A, is identified as the key factor to dictate the OER performance of these spinel cobaltites

    Co-infusion of haplo-identical CD19-chimeric antigen receptor T cells and stem cells achieved full donor engraftment in refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia

    Abstract Background Elderly patients with relapsed and refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) have poor prognosis. Autologous CD19 chimeric antigen receptor-modified T (CAR-T) cells have potentials to cure patients with B cell ALL; however, safety and efficacy of allogeneic CD19 CAR-T cells are still undetermined. Case presentation We treated a 71-year-old female with relapsed and refractory ALL who received co-infusion of haplo-identical donor-derived CD19-directed CAR-T cells and mobilized peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) following induction chemotherapy. Undetectable minimal residual disease by flow cytometry was achieved, and full donor cell engraftment was established. The transient release of cytokines and mild fever were detected. Significantly elevated serum lactate dehydrogenase, alanine transaminase, bilirubin and glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase were observed from days 14 to 18, all of which were reversible after immunosuppressive therapy. Conclusions Our preliminary results suggest that co-infusion of haplo-identical donor-derived CAR-T cells and mobilized PBSCs may induce full donor engraftment in relapsed and refractory ALL including elderly patients, but complications related to donor cell infusions should still be cautioned.     Electronically phase separated nano-network in antiferromagnetic insulating LaMnO3/PrMnO3/CaMnO3 tricolor superlattice

    Strongly correlated materials often exhibit an electronic phase separation (EPS) phenomena whose domain pattern is random in nature. The ability to control the spatial arrangement of the electronic phases at microscopic scales is highly desirable for tailoring their macroscopic properties and/or designing novel electronic devices. Here we report the formation of EPS nanoscale network in a mono-atomically stacked LaMnO3/CaMnO3/PrMnO3 superlattice grown on SrTiO3 (STO) (001) substrate, which is known to have an antiferromagnetic (AFM) insulating ground state. The EPS nano-network is a consequence of an internal strain relaxation triggered by the structural domain formation of the underlying STO substrate at low temperatures. The same nanoscale network pattern can be reproduced upon temperature cycling allowing us to employ different local imaging techniques to directly compare the magnetic and transport state of a single EPS domain. Our results confirm the one-to-one correspondence between ferromagnetic (AFM) to metallic (insulating) state in manganite. It also represents a significant step in a paradigm shift from passively characterizing EPS in strongly correlated systems to actively engaging in its manipulation

    Rosiglitazone Inhibits Transforming Growth Factor-β1 Mediated Fibrogenesis in ADPKD Cyst-Lining Epithelial Cells

    BACKGROUND: Interstitial fibrosis plays an important role in progressive renal dysfunction in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). In our previous studies, we confirmed that PPAR-γ agonist, rosiglitazone could protect renal function and prolong the survival of a slowly progressive ADPKD animal model by reducing renal fibrosis. However, the mechanism remains unknown. METHODS: Primary culture epithelial cells pretreated with TGF-β1 were incubated with rosiglitazone. Extracellular matrix proteins were detected using real-time PCR and Western blotting. MAPK and Smad2 phosphorylation were measured with western blot. ERK1/2 pathway and P38 pathway were inhibited with the specific inhibitors PD98059 and SB203580. The Smad2 pathway was blocked with the siRNA. To address whether PPAR-γ agonist-mediated inhibition of TGF-β1-induced collagen type I expression was mediated through a PPAR-γ dependent mechanism, genetic and pharmaceutical approaches were used to block the activity of endogenous PPARγ. RESULTS: TGF-β1-stimulated collagen type I and fibronectin expression of ADPKD cyst-lining epithelia were inhibited by rosiglitazone in a dosage-dependent manner. Smad2, ERK1/2 and P38 pathways were activated in response to TGF-β1; however, TGF-β1 had little effect on JNK pathway. Rosiglitazone suppressed TGF-β1 induced Smad2 activation, while ERK1/2 and P38MAPK signals remained unaffected. Rosiglitazone could also attenuate TGF-β1-stimulated collagen type I and fibronectin expression in primary renal tubular epithelial cells, but had no effect on TGF-β1-induced activation of Smad2, ERK1/2 and P38 pathways. There was no crosstalk between the Smad2 and MAPK pathways in ADPKD cyst-lining epithelial cells. These inhibitory effects of rosiglitazone were reversed by the PPARγ specific antagonist GW9662 and PPARγ siRNA. CONCLUSION: ADPKD cyst-lining epithelial cells participate in TGF-β1 mediated fibrogenesis. Rosiglitazone could suppress TGF-β1-induced collagen type I and fibronectin expression in ADPKD cyst-lining epithelia through modulation of the Smad2 pathway. Our study may provide therapeutic basis for clinical applications of rosiglitazone in retarding the progression of ADPKD

    Insight-HXMT observations of Swift J0243.6+6124 during its 2017-2018 outburst

    The recently discovered neutron star transient Swift J0243.6+6124 has been monitored by {\it the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope} ({\it Insight-\rm HXMT). Based on the obtained data, we investigate the broadband spectrum of the source throughout the outburst. We estimate the broadband flux of the source and search for possible cyclotron line in the broadband spectrum. No evidence of line-like features is, however, found up to 150 keV\rm 150~keV. In the absence of any cyclotron line in its energy spectrum, we estimate the magnetic field of the source based on the observed spin evolution of the neutron star by applying two accretion torque models. In both cases, we get consistent results with B1013 GB\rm \sim 10^{13}~G, D6 kpcD\rm \sim 6~kpc and peak luminosity of >1039 erg s1\rm >10^{39}~erg~s^{-1} which makes the source the first Galactic ultraluminous X-ray source hosting a neutron star.Comment: publishe
