    In a recent paper by A. Das and X. Zhou [Phys. Rev. D 68, 065017 (2003)] it is claimed that explicit evaluation of the thermal photon self-energy in the Schwinger model gives off-shell thermal Green functions that are different in light-front and conventional quantizations.     Electron Delocalization in Gate-Tunable Gapless Silicene

    The application of a perpendicular electric field can drive silicene into a gapless state, characterized by two nearly fully spin-polarized Dirac cones owing to both relatively large spin-orbital interactions and inversion symmetry breaking. Here we argue that since inter-valley scattering from non-magnetic impurities is highly suppressed by time reversal symmetry, the physics should be effectively single-Dirac-cone like. Through numerical calculations, we demonstrate that there is no significant backscattering from a single impurity that is non-magnetic and unit-cell uniform, indicating a stable delocalized state. This conjecture is then further confirmed from a scaling of conductance for disordered systems using the same type of impurities.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, published versio

    Spectroscopy of q3qˉ3\rm{q}^3\bar{\rm{q}}^3-States in Quark Model and Baryon-Antibaryon Enhancements

    We study the mass spectrum of the q3qˉ3\rm{q}^3\bar{\rm{q}}^3 mesons both from the quark model with triquark correlations and from common quark model with colormagnetic interactions and with relative S-waves between quarks. Two cluster configurations (q3)−(qˉ3)(\rm{q}^3)-(\bar{\rm{q}}^3) and (q2qˉ)−(qqˉ2)(\rm{q}^2\bar{\rm{q}})-(\rm{q}\bar{\rm{q}}^2) are considered. In the spectrum we find rather stable states which have the same quantum number with particle resonances which are corresponding to the ppˉp\bar{p} enhancement, pΛˉp\bar{\Lambda} enhancement and ΛΛˉ\Lambda\bar{\Lambda} enhancement with spin-0\mathbf{0} or 1\mathbf{1}. This imply these enhancements are NOT experimental artifacts. The color-spin-flavor structures of ppˉp\bar{p}, pΛˉp\bar{\Lambda}, and ΛΛˉ\Lambda\bar{\Lambda} enhancements are revealed. The existence of spin-1\mathbf{1} ΛΛˉ,pΛˉ,ppˉ\Lambda\bar{\Lambda}, p\bar{\Lambda}, p\bar{p} enhancements is predicted.Comment: 45 pages, 5 figure

    Synthesis and Photocatalytic Activity of ZnxCd1–xS/TiO2 Heterostructures Nanofibre Prepared by Combining Electrospinning and Hydrothermal Method

    The ZnxCd1–xS/TiO2 hierarchical heterostructures were successfully fabricated by combining electrospinning technology and hydrothermal methods. The morphology, crystallinity, composition and band gap of ZnxCd1–xS/TiO2 were characterized by SEM, XRD, EDS, and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The results indicated the sulphur concentration had a significant influence on the composition and morphology of the products. The values of the band gap energy for ZnxCd1–xS/TiO2 varied from 2.33 to 2.66 eV with the change of sulphur concentration.Whenthe molar ratio of S/Ti was 0.96, the ZnxCd1–xS/TiO2 hierarchical heterostructures exhibited enhanced visible light photocatalytic behaviour for the decomposition of Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation.     Beating dark-dark solitons in Bose-Einstein condensates

    Motivated by recent experimental results, we study beating dark-dark solitons as a prototypical coherent structure that emerges in two-component Bose-Einstein condensates. We showcase their connection to dark- bright solitons via SO(2) rotation, and infer from it both their intrinsic beating frequency and their frequency of oscillation inside a parabolic trap. We identify them as exact periodic orbits in the Manakov limit of equal inter- and intra-species nonlinearity strengths with and without the trap and showcase the persistence of such states upon weak deviations from this limit. We also consider large deviations from the Manakov limit illustrating that this breathing state may be broken apart into dark-antidark soliton states. Finally, we consider the dynamics and interactions of two beating dark-dark solitons in the absence and in the presence of the trap, inferring their typically repulsive interaction.Comment: 13 pages, 14 figure

    Light Front Nuclear Physics: Toy Models, Static Sources and Tilted Light Front Coordinates

    The principles behind the detailed results of a light-front mean field theory of finite nuclei are elucidated by deriving the nucleon mode equation using a simple general argument, based on the idea that a static source in equal time coordinates corresponds to a moving source in light front coordinates. This idea also allows us to solve several simple toy model examples: scalar field in a box, 1+1 dimensional bag model, three-dimensional harmonic oscillator and the Hulth\'en potential. The latter provide simplified versions of momentum distributions and form factors of relevance to experiments. In particular, the relativistic correction to the mean square radius of a nucleus is shown to be very small.     Trouble in Asymptopia---the Hulthen Model on the Light Front

    We use light-front dynamics to calculate the electromagnetic form-factor for the Hulthen model of the deuteron. For small momentum transfer Q^2 < 5 GeV^2 the relativistic effects are quite small. For Q^2 = 11 GeV^2 there is about a 13% discrepancy between the relativistic and non-relativistic approaches. For asymptotically large momentum transfer, however, the light-front form factor, log Q^2 /Q^4, markedly differs from the non-relativistic version, 1/Q^4. This behavior is also present for any wave function, such as those obtained from realistic potential models, which can be represented as a sum of Yukawa functions. Furthermore, the asymptotic behavior is in disagreement with the Drell-Yan-West relation. We investigate precisely how to determine the asymptotic behavior and confront the problem underlying troublesome form factors on the light front.Comment: 20 pages, 8 figures Accepted by Phys. Rev

    A two-receiver quantum dense coding scheme and an NN-receiver quantum dense coding scheme, in the case of non-symmetric Hilbert spaces of the particles of the quantum channel, are investigated in this paper. A sender can send his messages to many receivers simultaneously.     Culture-independent analysis of microflora in Gayals (Bos frontalis) feces

    Comparative DNA sequence analysis of 16S/18S rRNA genes (rDNA) were undertaken to further our understanding of the make-up of micro-organisms communities in the feces of Gayals. Total DNA wereextracted from the feces of 5 Gayals. Two rDNA libraries (16S/18S rDNA) were constructed. In the 16S rDNA library, phylogenetic and sequence similarity analyses of the resultant 71 clone sequences revealed the presence of 67 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) or phylotypes and defined as having more than 97% of sequence similarity. The sequences were affiliated with the following phyla: Firmicutes (34.3%), Bacteroidetes (6.0%), Proteobacteria (4.5%), and uncultured bacteria (55.2%). A setof 58 sequences were analyzed in the 18S rDNA library, which were classified into 27 OTUs. They were mainly affiliated with the following phyla: Protozoa (25.9%), Basidiomycota (3.7%), Ascomycota (11.1%),and uncultured eukaryotes (59.3%). The sequence analysis indicated that more than half of the species, harbored in Gayals fecal belonged to the not-yet-cultured groups at 90% 16S/18S similarity levels with cultured species. In addition, micro-organisms of Chytridiomycetes was one of the most significant cellulose producing species obtained from the Gayal feces as well

    The magnetic dipole transitions in the (cbˉ)(c\bar{b}) binding system

    The magnetic dipole transitions between the vector mesons Bc∗B_c^* and their relevant pseudoscalar mesons BcB_c (BcB_c, Bc∗B_c^*, Bc(2S)B_c(2S), Bc∗(2S)B_c^*(2S), Bc(3S)B_c(3S) and Bc∗(3S)B_c^*(3S) etc, the binding states of (cbˉ)(c\bar{b}) system) of the BcB_c family are interesting. To see the `hyperfine' splitting due to spin-spin interaction is an important topic for understanding the spin-spin interaction and the spectrum of the the (cbˉ)(c\bar{b}) binding system. The knowledge about the magnetic dipole transitions is also very useful for identifying the vector boson Bc∗B_c^* mesons experimentally, whose masses are just slightly above the masses of their relevant pseudoscalar mesons BcB_c accordingly. Considering the possibility to observe the vector mesons via the transitions at Z0Z^0 factory and the potentially usages of the theoretical estimate on the transitions, we fucus our efforts on calculating the magnetic dipole transitions, i.e. precisely to calculate the rates for the transitions such as decays Bc∗→BcγB_c^*\to B_c\gamma and Bc∗→Bce+e−B_c^*\to B_c e^+e^-, and particularly work in the Behte-Salpeter framework. In the estimate, as a typical example, we carefully investigate the dependance of the rate Γ(Bc∗→Bcγ)\Gamma(B_c^*\to B_c\gamma) on the mass difference ΔM=MBc∗−MBc\Delta M=M_{B_c^*}-M_{B_c} as well.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, 1 tabl
