Three organic polymer systems are based on copolymer of chlorotrifluoroethylene, ethylene, and tin-based flame retardants. Fourth system is copolymer of chlorotrifluorethylene and tetrafluoroethylene. This system contains no stabilizers of flame retardant additives

    Spoilage bacteria of Penaeus indicus

Bacteria isolated from raw (untreated and unprocessed) prawn (Penaeus indicus) stored at 28±2°C, 4°C and-18°C were tested for spoilage potential, namely, production of protease, lipase, amylase, reduction of trimethylamineoxide (TMAO) to trimethylamine (TMA), production of off odours from flesh broth and halo zone around the colony grown on flesh agar. About 63 % of the total isolates tested were potential spoilers. Members of Vibrio, Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter were found to be dominant potential spoilers at all temperatures

    Synthesis and Characterisation of Nanomaterials

Development of synthesis protocols for realising nanomaterials over a range of sizes, shapes, and chemical compositions is an important aspect of nanotechnology. The remarkable size-dependent physico-chemical properties of nanoparticles have fascinated and inspired researchactivity in this direction. This paper describes some aspects on synthesis and characterisationof nanoparticles of metals, metal alloys, and oxides, either in the form of thin films or bulk shapes.A brief discussion on processing of two-phase nanocomposite magnets is also presented.Defence Science Journal, 2008, 58(4), pp.504-516, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.58.167

    CSIS: Cloud Service Identification System

    Get PDF
To meet the need of the computational power, most of the users may go for a cloud based services for its scalability, flexibility and reliability. Cloud services have become an integral part of IT and analytical enterprises. Owing to increase in necessity of commercial cloud products being readily available, it has become extremely difficult for users to identify suitable cloud services. This paper proposes the recommender system precisely designed for the discovery of cloud services. Though there is an exponential increase in demand for cloud services, the amount of research done in this particular field is abysmal. Cloud Service Identification System (CSIS) crawls through Internet, identifies cloud services and stores them in a database. The user’s search query is processed and recommends cloud services accurately

Diagonal and Low-Rank Matrix Decompositions, Correlation Matrices, and Ellipsoid Fitting

In this paper we establish links between, and new results for, three problems that are not usually considered together. The first is a matrix decomposition problem that arises in areas such as statistical modeling and signal processing: given a matrix XX formed as the sum of an unknown diagonal matrix and an unknown low rank positive semidefinite matrix, decompose XX into these constituents. The second problem we consider is to determine the facial structure of the set of correlation matrices, a convex set also known as the elliptope. This convex body, and particularly its facial structure, plays a role in applications from combinatorial optimization to mathematical finance. The third problem is a basic geometric question: given points v1,v2,...,vn∈Rkv_1,v_2,...,v_n\in \R^k (where n>kn > k) determine whether there is a centered ellipsoid passing \emph{exactly} through all of the points. We show that in a precise sense these three problems are equivalent. Furthermore we establish a simple sufficient condition on a subspace UU that ensures any positive semidefinite matrix LL with column space UU can be recovered from D+LD+L for any diagonal matrix DD using a convex optimization-based heuristic known as minimum trace factor analysis. This result leads to a new understanding of the structure of rank-deficient correlation matrices and a simple condition on a set of points that ensures there is a centered ellipsoid passing through them.Comment: 20 page

Mathieu Stability of Offshore Buoyant Leg Storage and Regasification Platform

    Get PDF
Increasing demand for large-sized Floating, Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs) for oil and gas industries led to the development of novel geometric form of Buoyant Leg Storage and Regasification Platform (BLSRP). BLSRP consists of a circular deck supported by six buoyant legs placed symmetrically with respect to wave direction. Circular deck is connected to buoyant legs using hinged joints, which restrain transfer of rotational response from the legs to deck and vice-versa. Buoyant legs are connected to seabed using taut moored system with high initial pretension, enabling rigid body motion in vertical plane. Encountered environmental loads induce dynamic tether tension variations, which in turn affect stability of the platform. The present study investigates Mathieu stability of BLSRP under the postulated tether pullout cases by inducing additional tension in the tethers. From the numerical studies carried out, it is seen that postulated tether pullout on any one of the buoyant legs does not result in Mathieu type instability even under excessive tether tension. This is due to the presence of hinged joints, which are capable of dissipating the unbalanced loads to other legs. However, under tether pullout of consecutive buoyant legs, Mathieu-type instability is observed

Ethno-Cultural Identity of Northeast India with Reference to Temsula Ao’s Select Poems

    Get PDF
Northeast part of India is known for its ethnogenic significance which has many roots of civilization, and it is distinct from the other part of the country. Therefore, the culture of Northeast India faces tremendous challenges due to its vast ethnographic diversity. Temsula Ao, is one of the most widely read and studied women writers of North-East India. She has been the recipient of many awards including the Padma Shri in 2007 and the Sahitya Akademi award in 2013.  She is also a pioneer writer from Nagaland. The main aim of this study is to explore ethno-cultural aesthetics of the Northeast Indian region which exists in Temsula Ao’s poetry. For that purpose, fifteen of her poems are selected from her anthology titled Books of Songs. The select poems were analysed qualitatively.  This descriptive qualitative research methodology deals how Ao-Naga regional people know about human values, beliefs, behavious, and social conditions within their own environmental contexts. The major finding of this paper is in what way Temsula Ao revitalizes Ao-Naga culture and tradition by picturising her region, history and condition of women relating them with nature through her poems. Implications were identified for the people of diverse cultural backgrounds. And, it is concluded that the beauty of a region is retained by the people who have a staunch belief in their traditional cultural values and ethics
