Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the leadership style and competence of the leaders according to the Indonesian youth perspective. Besides, the study also identified differences in leadership style and leadership competencies according to the youth perspective based on the level of education. Approach/Methodology/Design: The survey conducted used a questionnaire with 800 Indonesian youth. SPSS 25 and AMOS 18 software were used to analyze the study findings. Findings: The results show that there is a difference in leadership style and leadership competence, according to the Indonesian youth perspective, based on the level of education. The findings of the study show that there is no significant difference in the style of leadership and commitment of the facilitator according to the perspective of Indonesian youth based on the level of education. This shows that Indonesian youth have a similar outlook on leadership style and competence. The findings show that youth with a level of education as students in the school where participation style leadership positively affects emotional ability, while leadership style leads to a negative impact on emotional competence. The results of the study also show that from the perspective of youth studying at the university level, leadership style has a positive effect on emotional competence. While leadership styles support, participation and achievement-oriented leadership styles negatively affect emotional and spiritual capability. Practical Implications: The findings of this study have implications for national leaders to be able to use effective leadership styles in nation-building and to increase their capacity to achieve the direction of national development. Originality/value: The results identify the influence of leadership style on the emotional and spiritual competence of leaders according to the Indonesian youth perspective.peer-reviewe

The Effect of Guided Inquiry Learning Model to the Metacognitive Ability of Primary School Students

    Get PDF
This study aimed at analyzing the effect of guided inquiry learning to the metacognitive ability of primary school students on the material of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB). The type of study was a mixed-method using quantitative and qualitative methods. There were 55 students of 4th grade used as the subjects of study. Two learning models were compared, namely guided inquiry learning model and conventional learning model. The students’ metacognitive ability was measured by means of problem-solving test on the material of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB). The quantitative analysis data used descriptive and inferential statistical tests. According to the results of data analysis, it was discovered that the t-test of sig (2-tailed) from the independent samples t-test of post-test was 0,00 (p = <0,05); this indicated that there was a significant difference on it. This showed that there was a difference of students’ metacognitive ability for both classes in solving the problems of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB) after the guided inquiry learning was implemented. Consequently, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect on the implementation of guided inquiry learning model to improve the students’ metacognitive ability in solving the material problems of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB)

Modelling of inactivation of microorganisms in the process of sterilization using high pressure supercritical fluids

Abstract High hydrostatic pressure technology is a relatively new method for the food industry and is considered more as an alternative to traditional storage methods such as thermal processes. Inactivation of spores, models, yeasts, and viruses has been demonstrated by this method. Although issues related to the safety and longevity of food, as well as their legal permits, require extensive case studies, the available experimental findings can be useful in expanding the potential applications of high pressure in the food industry. In this paper, CO2 is used as a fluid. Increasing the pressure in Weibull and log-logistic models from 2.5 MPa to 10 MPa has reduced the processing time from 700 minutes to 70 and 60 minutes, respectively. The log-logistic model in predicting the process of inactivation of microbes compared to the Weibull model has been the lowest, and also the log-logistic model has a suitable ability to predict the shoulder of the chart if the Weibull model does not have this ability and its error is almost high. Increasing the increase in pressure has increased the level of inactivation of Salmonella typhimurium and Listeria monocytogenes, except Listeria monocytogenes at a pressure of 6.05 MPa, which reduced inactivation

Background:Asia is on track to become the region with the most elderly people in the world. The elderly population will reach 922.7 million by the middle of this century. Therefore, they will be cared for by the today’s youth. Negative attitudes toward older people can make adolescents more uncomfortable relating to them. Objectives:The objective of this study was to evaluate validity and reliability of Kogan’s attitude toward old people among nursing students in Thailand, Myanmar, and Indonesia. Methods:Content validation of the 34-item Kogan’s attitude toward old people was examined by three geriatric nursing experts. The reliability was evaluated on 600 nursing students, from nursing colleges in Thailand (200), Myanmar (200), and Indonesia (200).Findings:The attitude scores towards the elderly ranged from 34 to 238. All of the 34 items were found to have significant item-to-total correlations (p< .05). The reliability results were as follows: In Thailand, Cronbach’s alpha was .70 for the total scale, .72 for the positive scale, and .68 for the negative scale. In Myanmar, Cronbach’s alpha was .68 for the total scale, .65 for the positive scale, and .66 for the negative scale. In Indonesia, Cronbach’s alpha was .66 for the total scale, .71 for the positive scale, and .72 for the negative scale. Conclusions:These findings suggest that Kogan’s attitude toward old people is reliable and valid for nursing students from Thailand, Myanmar, and Indonesia. However, Kogan’s attitude toward old people should be revised by these countries, including changing wording on all items for better reliability. The revised version must then be tested for reliability and validity
