    Analysis of a Holling-type IV stochastic prey-predator system with anti-predatory behavior and Lévy noise

    In this paper, we investigate a stochastic prey-predator model with Holling-type IV functional responses, anti-predatory behavior (referring to prey resistance to predator), gestation time delay of prey and Lévy noise. We investigate the existence and uniqueness of global positive solutions through Itô's formulation and Lyapunov's method. We also provide sufficient conditions for the persistence and extinction of prey-predator populations. Additionally, we examine the stability of the system distribution and validate our analytical findings through detailed numerical simulations. Our paper concludes with the implications of our results

    Call admission control for CDMA cellular networks supporting multimedia services

    A new call admission control algorithm is presented and analyzed for CDMA networks supporting multimedia services. Our algorithm uses a criterion based on the average SIR as well as the effective bandwidth of the connections. Handoff requests receive higher priority through resource reservation. The proposed algorithm is easy to implement as it only needs to examine the number of current connections in the cell in order to admit or reject a new connection request. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated in terms of blocking probabilities of new and handoff calls, outage probabilities and system throughput. Our results show that our algorithm achieves performance similar to those published in the literature with considerably less implementation complexity. © 2006 IEEE

    The Influences of the Desert Photovoltaic Power Station on Local Climate and Environment: A Case Study in Dunhuang Photovoltaic Industrial Park, Dunhuang City, China in 2019

    Based on the meteorological observation data of air temperature, surface temperature and albedo data retrieved from remote sensing images inside and outside the photovoltaic station, as well as the measured soil moisture content and bulk density at different locations of the photovoltaic power station in 2019, the impact of large-scale desert photovoltaic power plants on climate and environment was studied. The results show that air temperature, surface temperature and albedo inside the photovoltaic power station are lower than those outside the station, which are obvious in winter and not obvious in summer. Therefore, the photovoltaic power station is a cold source and an energy sink. The soil moisture content under and between the photovoltaic arrays is larger than other sampling points, and the soil bulk density gradually decreases with the distance from the center of the photovoltaic power station. Therefore, future plans for desert photovoltaic power station construction should take into account the impacts on local climate and environment

    Uncovering the genetic profiles underlying the intrinsic organization of the human cerebellum

    The functional diversity of the human cerebellum is largely believed to be derived more from its extensive connections rather than being limited to its mostly invariant architecture. However, whether and how the determination of cerebellar connections in its intrinsic organization interact with microscale gene expression is still unknown. Here we decode the genetic profiles of the cerebellar functional organization by investigating the genetic substrates simultaneously linking cerebellar functional heterogeneity and its drivers, i.e., the connections. We not only identified 443 network-specific genes but also discovered that their co-expression pattern correlated strongly with intra-cerebellar functional connectivity (FC). Ninety of these genes were also linked to the FC of cortico-cerebellar cognitive-limbic networks. To further discover the biological functions of these genes, we performed a "virtual gene knock-out" by observing the change in the coupling between gene co-expression and FC and divided the genes into two subsets, i.e., a positive gene contribution indicator (GCI+) involved in cerebellar neurodevelopment and a negative gene set (GCI-) related to neurotransmission. A more interesting finding is that GCI- is significantly linked with the cerebellar connectivity-behavior association and many recognized brain diseases that are closely linked with the cerebellar functional abnormalities. Our results could collectively help to rethink the genetic substrates underlying the cerebellar functional organization and offer possible micro-macro interacted mechanistic interpretations of the cerebellum-involved high order functions and dysfunctions in neuropsychiatric disorders
