    The trusted platform agent

    No full text
The Trusted Platform Agent (TPA) is designed to minimize the effort of writing applications that use Trusted Computing (TC) technology and employ the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Writing applications for TC requires a TCG software stack (TSS), but there are still a number of tedious and repetitive operations to be carried out. One way to reduce these is by linking an application with the TPA library to avoid the complexity of the TSS interface. This also simplifies tasks in which TC primitives need to be integrated with other commonly needed functions, such as cryptographic or network-related functions. © 2006 IEEE

Designing diversified renewable energy systems to balance multisector performance

    No full text
Renewable energy system development and improved operation can mitigate climate change. In many regions, hydropower is called to counterbalance the temporal variability of intermittent renewables like solar and wind. However, using hydropower to integrate these renewables can affect aquatic ecosystems and increase cross-sectoral water conflicts. We develop and apply an artificial intelligence-assisted multisector design framework in Ghana, which shows how hydropower’s flexibility alone could enable expanding intermittent renewables by 38% but would increase sub-daily Volta River flow variability by up to 22 times compared to historical baseload hydropower operations. This would damage river ecosystems and reduce agricultural sector revenues by US$169 million per year. A diversified investment strategy identified using the proposed framework, including intermittent renewables, bioenergy, transmission lines and strategic hydropower re-operation could reduce sub-daily flow variability and enhance agricultural performance while meeting future national energy service goals and reducing CO2 emissions. The tool supports national climate planning instruments such as nationally determined contributions (NDCs) by steering towards diversified and efficient power systems and highlighting their sectoral and emission trade-offs and synergies

Key Exchange with Anonymous Authentication Using DAASIGMA Protocol

Abstract. Anonymous digital signatures such as Direct Anonymous Attestation (DAA) and group signatures have been a fundamental building block for anonymous entity authentication. In this paper, we show how to incorporate DAA schemes into a key exchange protocol between two entities to achieve anonymous authentication and to derive a shared key between them. We propose a modification to the SIGMA key exchange protocol used in the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) standards to support anonymous authentication using DAA. Our key exchange protocol can be also extended to support group signature schemes instead of DAA. We present a secure model for key exchange with anonymous authentication derived from the Canetti-Krawczyk key-exchange security model. We prove that our DAA-SIGMA protocol is secure under our security model.
