Filottete in scena: risonanze emotive e partitura ritmica. Note al Filottete di Sofocle
In Philoctetes Sophocles composes with mastery the emotional language of the protagonist and designes a rhythmical structure for the different moods, enhancing the expressive potential of the interaction between word and meter. In this work we analyze the forms of versification – extra metrum, antilabé, non-lyrical and lyrical meters – of some significant sections that are useful to better reconstruct and understand the winding and dramatic path assigned by Sophocles to Philoctetes
The choral song of Aristophanes’ Thesmophoriazusae (ll. 947-1000) is one of the most significant examples – in the ancient Greek theatre – of choreia, the harmonious synthesis of words, music, song and dance. In this paper we propose a hypothetical reconstruction of the performance of this song through textual and metric elements, supposing what might have taken place in the orchestra. With this choral song Aristophanes offers the audience of the Theatre of Dionysus a brilliant dance performance and, at the same time, continues to “challenge” in the dramatic art Euripides, who is the protagonist – together with his theatre – of this comedy

«Il più bello di tutti»: il gliconeo
Semantic function and usage of glyconic verse in the lyric of the greek drama. The paper is based on the analysis of four odes: Aesch. fr. 47a 802-820 Radt, Soph. Phil. 169-190, Eur. Andr. 501-536, Aristoph. Eq. 973-996. In these songs a combination of glyconics and pherecrateans is extensively represented, following a typical pattern of the anacreontic poems
UN EPICEDIO PER TROIA. LETTURA METRICO-RITMICA DI EUR. TROAD. 511-567
The work presents a metrical analysis of the first stasimon of Euripides’ Trojan Women. The prevailing use of the iambic rhythm, most in the form of dimetres, seems aimed to three main objectives. First the expression of the captive women’s lament, second, due to the content and the dramatic setting, the affinity with a rhesis aggelike, third the enhancing of the verbal message using a simple and iterative melody. It’s a peculiar metrical structure – in Euripides’lyric – to «καινῶν ὕμνων ... ᾠδὰν ἐπικήδειον » (vv. 512-513)
