WOS: 000259749600007Developmental time, predation, and reproduction of Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot from Hatay on a diet of Tetranychus cinnabarinus Boisduval larvae and protonymphs at temperatures of 20, 25, and 30 degrees C (75% 10% RH and a 14:10-h LD (light:dark) cycle) were studied. P. persimilis females feeding on T. cinnabarinus larvae completed development in 8.12, 5.79, and 3.88 days at 20, 25, and 30 degrees C, respectively, during which time the females consumed on average 16.10, 16.09, and 17.18 T. cinnabarinus larvae, respectively. Alternatively, P. persimilis females completed development at the same 3 temperatures in 8.16, 5.73, and 4.27 days, respectively, on a diet of T. cinnabarinus protonymphs, and during development the females consumed 12.84, 9.69, and 12.21 T. cinnabarinus protonymphs, respectively. Mean daily consumption of adult P. persimilis females was 11.85, 20.64, and 15.41, while P. persimilis males consumed 2.41. 2.60, and 3.25 T. cinnabarinus larvae at 20, 25, and 30 degrees C, respectively. Females laid on average 1.85, 3.42. and 2.30 eggs per female per day, respectively, at the above-mentioned temperatures, Higher temperatures shortened the development time of P. persimilis, but the amount of food consumed was mainly influenced by diet type

WOS: 000253997300003Development times, reproductive rates, and population growth parameters of Tetranychus cinnabarinus Boisd. on 8 strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duchesne) varieties were evaluated under laboratory conditions. Total development times of immature males and females were not significantly influenced by the strawberry varieties. T. cinnabarinus laid significantly more eggs per day on cultivar Muir (8.46) than on the other cultivars. Similarly, T. cinnabarinus on Muir had the highest net reproductive rate (R-o) (120.19 female/female), while R-o was the lowest on cultivar Sweet Charlie (39.51 female/female). The generation time ranged from 18.96 to 22.32 days, but no significant varietal effect was seen. The intrinsic rate of increase (r(m)) showed a pattern similar to that of R-o; it was highest on Muir (0.253) and lowest on Sweet Charlie (0.208). The results indicate that Muir was the most favorable strawberry cultivar for T. cinnabarinus population growth, whereas Sweet Charlie was the least suitable, under controlled conditions

Tetranychus cinnabarinus Boisd. A. bibens, P. persimilis'in aksine ortamda tek avcı bulunduğu koşullarda daha yavaş populasyon gelişmesi göstermiştir. Population growth and compatibility of Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot and Amblyseius bibens Blommers preying on Tetranychus cinnabarinus Boisd. were studied using leaf arenas in series of Petri dishes, at 20±1°C and 90±5 % R.H. with 0.55 Klux lightning. Mean number of eggs, immature stages and females of T. cinnabarinus regarding to A. bibens and P. persimilis in single and cohabiting arenas were realized. The mean number of eggs, immature stages and females of T. cinnabarinus were statistically in same group for single species P. persimilis and cohabited arenas but they were different from single species A. bibens except adult females. Population densities of P. persimilis and A. bibens were found to be higher in single species experiments than with the two predators cohabited arenas. Both predators eliminated the prey in single and mixed species experiments. In contrast to P. persimilis, A. bibens showed a relatively slower response to prey in single species experiments. The highest average number of egg, immature stage and female of the prey was 308 total stages/25 cm2 with A. bibens, and 144 total stages/25 cm2 with P. persimilis. In cohabiting arenas,- the average maximum number of prey was 232 total stages/25 cm , which was lower than that of A. bibens but was higher than that of P. persimilis in a single species system. Competition pressure resulted lower population densities for both predators in cohabited arenas, neither of the predator species, completely outcompeted the other

Biology of predatory mite Typhlodromips enab El-Badry (Acari: Phytoseiidae) were studied at different temperatures under laboratory conditions. Predatory mite females completed their total immature development times in 8.68, 6.15 and 4.73 days at 20±1, 25±1 and 30±1 oC, respectively (70±10% RH and 14L: 10D lightning period). Mated females laid an average 0.88, 0.57 and 0.64 eggs per female per day and 4.40, 4.63 and 6.40, eggs over their the entire lives in the above given temperatures, respectively. Total average life span of T. enab was 21.80, 16.49 and 15.20 days at 20, 25 and 30 oC, respectively. Food consumption and reproduction of the predatory mite did not show the increasing action according to increasing food density. Predatory mite comsumption changed between 0.70 to 6.40 while reproduction changed between 0.30 - 0.70 eggs/daily, at different prey densities. According to results, predatory mite completed its development on a diet of Tetranychus cinnabarinus Boisduval (Acari: Tetranychidae) but this pest is not a suitable diet for reproduction of this predator

WOS: 000292377300014Survey study was carried out in tomato greenhouses of Mersin province during autumn 2009 (september-january) and spring 2010 (february-june) in order to determine the pest status and prevalence of Tomato moth, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick, 1917) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) a new pest for Turkey. In each greenhouse randomly chosen at least 20 plants were controlled successively. Galleries drilled by T. absoluta were searched, plant was registered as infected, if larvae found. A total of 262 greenhouses from 3 locations (Adanalioglu, Kazanli and Kocahasanli) were checked weekly. No T. absoluta was recorded in any 82 greenhouses checked during Autumn 2009 season. T. absoluta was recorded for the first time on 29(th) April 2010 in a tomato greenhouse in Adanalioglu location. After that date the pest was spread out very fast and recorded in 72 of totally 88 greenhouses checked in Adanalioglu, Kazanli and Kocahasanli during Spring 2010 season. While infested plant rate was low in first week of may, than after increased in late may and early june. The higher infested tomato fruit rate per plant was recorded as 38.4 %
