    Central pseudoscalar production in pppp scattering is suppressed at small values of Q⊄Q_\perp, where QQ is defined as the difference between the momenta transferred from the two protons. Such a behaviour is expected if the production occurs through the fusion of two vectors.     Compound 21 (C21), selective agonist of AT2 receptors, shows antinflammatory effects in hypertension and nephroprotection in diabetes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of C21 in cyclosporine nephropathy, which is characterized mainly by tubulo-interstitial fibrosis. Ten days before and during the experimental periods, low-salt diet was administered to Sprague Dawley rats. Cyclosporine-A (15mg/kg/day, i.p.) and cyclosporine-A plus C21 (0.3 mg/kg /day, i.p) were administered for 1 and 4 weeks. Control groups was left without any treatment. Blood pressure (plethysmographic method) and 24 hour albuminuria were measured once a week. At the end of the experiments, the kidneys were excised for histomorphometric analysis of renal fibrosis and for immunohistochemical evaluation of inflammatory infiltrates and type I and IV collagen expression.After 1 and 4 weeks, the rats treated with cyclosporine showed a significant increase (p <0.01) in blood pressure, no significant changes in albuminuria, a significant increase (p <0.01) in glomerular and tubulo-interstitial fibrosis and inflammatory infiltrates as compared to the control rats. Treatment with C21 did not modify the cyclosporine dependent increase of blood pressure, which was higher than in control rats, but after 4 weeks of treatment significantly reduced (p <0.01) glomerular and tubulo-interstitial fibrosis, type 1 collagen expression and macrophage infiltration, as compared to rats treated with cyclosporine.The administration of C21 showed a protective effect on cyclosporine nephropathy, decreasing renal fibrosis and macrophage infiltration. These data suggest that C21 may counteract tubulo-interstitial fibrosis, the most potent predictor of the progression of renal diseases

    Phenomenological evidence for the energy dependence of the η−ηâ€Č\eta-\eta' mixing angle

    A phenomenological analysis on various decay processes is performed using an energy-dependent η−ηâ€Č\eta-\eta' mixing angle scheme. Special attention is given to the radiative couplings between lowest-lying vector and pseudoscalar mesons. The agreement between our predictions and the experimental values is remarkable. This analysis opens a connection to two-angle fits in the η−ηâ€Č\eta-\eta' sector.Comment: 13 pages. Introduction slightly modified. A second Table added. Conclusions remain unchange

    We describe the electromagnetic calorimeter built for the GRAAL apparatus at the ESRF. Its monitoring system is presented in detail. Results from tests and the performance obtained during the first GRAAL experiments are given.     QoT Computation for 100G Lightpaths Routed on 10G-loaded Dispersion-Managed Network Segments

    The core and backbone optical network market segment is largely dominated by coherent transmission delivering 100Gbps and beyond thanks to the DSP-based coherent transceivers technology optical line systems without chromatic dispersion compensation. The metro and access segment instead is still often made of dispersion-compensated optical line systems operated with cheap 10G transceivers because of the still excessive CAPEX required to upgrade this segment to coherent technology. In the context of the gradual rise of SDN technology, aimed at dynamically, transparently and automatically managing and orchestrating optical networks, the ability to route 100G coherent channels through a section of dispersion managed network populated with legacy 10G channels enables more flexibility and CAPEX savings. In this work we propose a simple, fast and conservative quality-of-transmission estimator, tailored to the needs of a software module for optical path computation, able to estimate of the 10G-to-100G non-linear effects

    This paper has been presented at : ONDM 2019 23rd Conference on Optical Network Design and ModellingIn future 5G infrastructures, network services will be de- ployed through sets of Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) leveraging the advantages of both Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Net- work Function Virtualization (NFV). A network service is composed of an ordered sequence of VNFs, i.e., VNF Forwarding Graph (VNFFG), deployed across distributed data centers (DCs). Herein, we present a Cloud/Network Orchestrator which dynamically processes and accom- modates VNFFG requests over a pool of DCs interconnected by a multi- layer (packet/flexi-grid optical) transport network infrastructure. We propose two different cloud and network resource allocation algorithms aiming at: i) minimizing the distance between the selected DCs, and ii) minimizing the load (i.e., consumed cloud resources) of the chosen DCs.
