William Wilson (1690-1741): churchman and theologian
The purpose of this biographer, as stated in the Preface,
is to endeavor to pay tribute to one who, in a period of severe
storm, witnessed for the truth as he understood the truth, and
utilized his gifts, experiences, and labors in order that God
might "have all the glory".
Our subject appeared upon the stage of history at tile close
of an explosive century - the 17th, Although he was not born
until two years following the Revolution, yet the effects of this -
and other events - served to mould his life, his teaching, his
ministry. The Introduction sets forth the condition of the Church
and State at the time of his birth.
Your author leans heavily upon Andrew Ferrier and John Eadie
for biographical data. But Wilson's ministry is mentioned in a
number of other publications, as a close examination of the
Bibliography will reveal.
Although the writings of the Pastor of Perth manifest deep
theological convictions, he is afforded a niche among his
colleagues of the Scottish Church because of his quality of
leadership. He, more than any of his fellow Seceders, was best
able to frame cogently and succinctly, the arguments and principles
of the Secession Movement, Many of these principles find their
roots in the devotional and academic disciplines which he formulated
at the outset of his commitment to the ministry. His boundless zeal
and unwearied efforts as a servant of Christ - in the Established
Church and in the Secession Church - are treated in the three
chapters relating to his life.
The characteristics which give Wilson a noteworthy position
among his Brethren are these: a power of calm, clear reasoning;
an eminent, judicial cast of mind; his limitless persistency in
application. These qualities impart a marked value to his
contribution to Secession literature, which that portion of the
Thesis treating his Churchmanship seeks to express.
Wilson was the pen of the Seceders, As an Apologist he set
his writings over against those of his chief antagonist - John
Currie of Kinglassie. This literary c©ntroversy labels Wilson as
a leading exponent of the Secession cause, and places his writings
among the historic documents of the Church
Development and Implementation of an Evidence-Based Practice Guideline Regarding Cricoid Pressure
Cricoid pressure (CP) has been a standard of practice since the 1960s. The purpose is to reduce aspiration of gastric content into the lungs in high-risk patients undergoing induction of general anesthesia. Aspiration has been identified as the most common cause of airway-related mortality for patients undergoing general anesthesia. The cause of airway-related mortality can be correlated to the application of CP. Incorrect application of CP may lead to adverse clinical events and outcomes. It has been demonstrated that when administering CP in a simulation-based environment, providers are applying pressure to the incorrect anatomical location and/or applying the incorrect amount of force. The project\u27s primary purpose is the development of an evidence-based practice (EBP) guideline which can be utilized to possibly reduce anesthesia related aspiration mortality for patients undergoing general anesthesia. This will be achieved by improving the quality of the application of CP through adopting an EBP approach to educate providers on the correct application. The project also includes a plan for implementing these EBP guidelines through education and training, monitoring the outcomes, and providing changes to the guidelines if the outcomes are less than desirable. The Plan-Do-Study-Act model was used as a framework to guide this scholarly project
Understanding COVID-19
The SARS-CoV-2 outbreak has changed the lives of many. To combat the disease referred to as COVID- 19, anesthesia providers must be educated on specific topics. Understanding of a brief history of previous strands of the disease details the need for measures to reduce healthcare providers exposure. As patients present to the operating room (OR), viral and antibody testing combined provides identification and prognosis of the disease with infected patients who can transmit the disease. Anesthesia providers encounter transmission entry points frequently increasing possibility of exposure. The disease process of COVID-19 can lead to progression of complications necessitating interventions from anesthesia providers. Specific care instructions can limit the possibility of provider exposure. The extensive viral plume that is produced by tracheostomy procedures amplify the probability of exposure. lf tracheostomy is in the best interest of the patient, the use the acronym CORONA for guidance of care and the use of a designated team in the OR should be utilized to reduce exposure

Lightning return stroke electromagnetics - time domain evaluation and application
A dissertation submitted to the Faculty of Engineering and the Built
Environment, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in fulfilment of
the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Engineering, 2016The work presented extends and contributes to the research of modelling lightning return
stroke (RS) electromagnetic (EM) fields in the time domain. Although previous work in
this area has focused on individual lightning electromagnetic pulse (LEMP) modelling
techniques, there has not been an investigation into the strengths and weaknesses of
different methods, as well as the implementation considerations of the models. This
work critically compares three unique techniques (Finite Antenna, FDTD, and Single
Cell FDTD) under the same ideal simulation parameters. The research presented will
evaluate the EM fields in the range of 50m to 500m from the lightning channel. This
range, often referred to as the near field distance, has a significant effect on lightning
induced overvoltages on distribution lines, which are primarily created by the horizontal
EM fields of the RS channel. These close distances have a significant effect on the
model implementations, especially with the FDTD method. Each of these modelling
methods is explained and tested through examples. The models are implemented in
C++ and have been included in the Appendix to aid in future implementation. From
the model simulations it is clear that the FDTD method is the most comprehensive
model available. It allows for non-ideal ground planes, as well as complex simulation
environments. However, FDTD has a number of numerical related errors that the Finite
Antenna method does not suffer from. The Single Cell FDTD method is simple to
implement and does not suffer from the same numerical errors as a full FDTD implementation,
but is limited to simple simulation environments. This work contributes to
the research field by comparing and evaluating three techniques and giving consideration
to the implementation and the applicability to lightning EM simulations.MT201
Cognitive Warfare and Young Black Males in America
The result was a veritable feedback loop whose cognitive output, the mental imprint of morally impoverished super- predators, 14 continually fed its input. [...]even as crime rates among black youth have dropped steadily since the mid-1990s, these selfreinforcing associations and dissociations have prompted lawmakers and their constituents to continue to support laws and policies that they know disproportionately punish and incapacitate young black males. [...]is the apparent extent to which even subliminal racial primes can influence our perceptions of individuals
Recent Data Show Continued Growth in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Use
The Great Recession had profound effects on families across the United States, and economic recovery has been slow. Poverty and unemployment remained high in 2011, and job growth was stagnant. Amid these signs of a sluggish recovery, social safety net programs have played a key role in supporting vulnerable families. Perhaps one of the most efficient and effective safety net programs, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP (formerly known as food stamps), has remained particularly important for providing families and children with utritious foods and alleviating poverty. For example, if SNAP benefits were counted as income, 4.4 percent fewer families would have been considered poor between 2000 and 2009. SNAP funding also has a multiplicative economic effect on communities, and research shows that every 9 of economic activity
