Pulsating strings from two dimensional CFT on
We propose a state from the two-dimensional conformal field theory on the
orbifold as a dual description for a pulsating string moving in
. We show that, up to first order in the deforming parameter, the energy
in both descriptions has the same dependence on the mode number, but with a
non-trivial function of the coupling.Comment: 10+4 pages. Misprints corrected. References added. Version published

Open strings on D-branes from ABJM
We study open strings on giant gravitons (D-branes on cycles) in the
ABJM/ correspondence. We find that their energy
spectrum has the same form as the one for closed strings, with a nontrivial
function of the coupling, avoiding BMN scaling. A similar, Cuntz oscillator,
Hamiltonian description for the string (operators at strong coupling) to the
case is valid also in this case.Comment: 25 pages, 4 figures; paragraph removed at end of section 2, footnotes

Worldsheet four-point functions in AdS(3)/CFT(2)
We calculate some extremal and non-extremal four-point functions on the
sphere of certain chiral primary operators for strings on AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4.
The computation is done for small values of the spacetime cross-ratio where
global SL(2) and SU(2) descendants may be neglected in the intermediate
channel. Ignoring also current algebra descendants, we find that in the
non-extremal case the integrated worldsheet correlators factorize into
spacetime three-point functions, which is non-trivial due to the integration
over the moduli space. We then restrict to the extremal case and compare our
results with the four-point correlators recently computed in the dual boundary
theory. We also discuss a particular non-extremal correlator involving two
chiral and two anti-chiral operators.Comment: 34 pages, subsection on crossing symmetry adde
S-matrix singularities and CFT correlation functions
In this note, we explore the correspondence between four-dimensional flat
space S-matrix and two-dimensional CFT proposed by Pasterski et al. We
demonstrate that the factorization singularities of an n-point cubic diagram
reproduces the AdS Witten diagrams if mass conservation is imposed at each
vertex. Such configuration arises naturally if we consider the 4-dimensional
S-matrix as a compactified massless 5-dimensional theory. This identification
allows us to rewrite the massless S-matrix in the CHY formulation, where the
factorization singularities are re-interpreted as factorization limits of a
Riemann sphere. In this light, the map is recast into a form of 2d/2d
correspondence.Comment: 18 page
