Genetic Basis of Phenotypic Differences Between Chinese Yunling Black Goats and Nubian Goats Revealed by Allele-Specific Expression in Their F1 Hybrids
Chinese Yunling black goats and African Nubian goats are divergent breeds showing significant differences in body size, milk production, and environmental adaptation. However, the genetic mechanisms underlying these phenotypic differences remain to be elucidated. In this report, we provide a detailed portrait of allele-specific expression (ASE) from 54 RNA-Seq analyses across six tissues from nine F1 hybrid offspring generated by crossing the two breeds combined with 13 genomes of the two breeds. We identified a total of 524 genes with ASE, which are involved in bone development, muscle cell differentiation, and the regulation of lipid metabolic processes. We further found that 38 genes with ASE were also under directional selection by comparing 13 genomes of the two breeds; these 38 genes play important roles in metabolism, immune responses, and the adaptation to hot and humid environments. In conclusion, our study shows that the exploration of genes with ASE in F1 hybrids provides an efficient way to understand the genetic basis underlying the phenotypic differences of two diverse goat breeds
Китайские эмигранты в России на VI съезде КПК
In the history of Chinese people staying on Russian territory there is still a lot of questions and areas for investigation and clarification. It is clear that the interaction between the Russians and the Chinese had a direct impact on the further development of Russian- Chinese relations. One of the unique event in the history of Russian-Chinese relations was the 6th Congress of the Communist Party of China, held in Moscow region in the Pervomayskoe village. It was the only Congress of the CPC held abroad and the Congress, where Marxism was adopted by the Chinese Communists, and later it was spread to China. In fact, the Congress was the starting point of the process of Marxism Sinification. The delegates of the 6th Congress included the Chinese immigrants who worked and studied in the USSR. They are directly influenced by the October Revolution which changed their way of thinking, these were people who perceived the ideas of Marxism-Leninism early, they organized the holding of this congress, where examined in detail the possible ways of the Chinese revolution. By adopting Marxism- Leninism and starting its propaganda, they have made a significant contribution to its spread in China in the form of Sinificated Marxism. The further destiny and life of overseas Chinese were different, but almost all of them were closely linked to the Chinese revolution and the transformation process in the Chinese society in the middle of the 20th century. The authors described in detail the composition of the participants and organizers of the Congress, analyzed the content of speeches and reports of the head of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at the congress, considered the further destiny of the participants and delegates
Topological Atomic Spinwave Lattices by Dissipative Couplings
Recent experimental advance in creating dissipative couplings provides a new
route for engineering exotic lattice systems and exploring topological
dissipation. Using the spatial lattice of atomic spinwaves in a vacuum vapor
cell, where purely dissipative couplings arise from diffusion of atoms, we
experimentally realize a dissipative version of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH)
model. We construct the dissipation spectra of the topological or trivial
lattices via electromagnetically-induced-transparency (EIT) spectroscopy. The
topological dissipation spectrum is found to exhibit edge modes at dissipation
rates within a dissipative gap, decoupled from the bulk. We also validate
chiral symmetry of the dissipative SSH couplings. This work paves the way for
realizing topology-enabled quantum correlations and non-Hermitian topological
quantum optics via dissipative couplings.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
A study of health effects of long-distance ocean voyages on seamen using a data classification approach
Background: Long-distance ocean voyages may have substantial impacts on seamen’s health, possibly causing malnutrition and other illness. Measures can possibly be taken to prevent such problems from happening through preparing special diet and making special precautions prior or during the sailing if a detailed understanding can be gained about what specific health effects such voyages may have on the seamen.
Methods: We present a computational study on 200 seamen using 41 chemistry indicators measured on their blood samples collected before and after the sailing. Our computational study is done using a data classification approach with a support vector machine-based classifier in conjunction with feature selections using a recursive feature elimination procedure.
Results: Our analysis results suggest that among the 41 blood chemistry measures, nine are most likely to be affected during the sailing, which provide important clues about the specific effects of ocean voyage on seamen’s health.
Conclusions: The identification of the nine blood chemistry measures provides important clues about the effects of long-distance voyage on seamen’s health. These findings will prove to be useful to guide in improving the living and working environment, as well as food preparation on ships
Genetic Variants on Chromosome 8q24 and Colorectal Neoplasia Risk: A Case-Control Study in China and a Meta-Analysis of the Published Literature
Previous studies have found that common genetic variants on chromosome 8q24 are associated with the risk of developing colorectal neoplasia. We conducted a hospital-based case-control study, including 435 cases and 788 unrelated controls to investigate the associations between common variants on 8q24 and the risk of colorectal cancer in a Chinese population. We also evaluated the association of rs6983267 with colorectal neoplasia in the published literature via a meta-analysis study. We found that rs6983267 was significantly associated with the risk of colorectal cancer in the Chinese population, with an adjusted odds-ratio (OR) for the GT heterozygotes and GG homozygotes of 1.30 (95% CI = 0.98–1.71, P = 0.069) and 1.66 (95% CI = 1.18–2.34, P = 0.004), respectively, compared to the TT homozygotes, with a P-trend value of 0.003. No association was found for the other three loci (rs16901979, rs1447295 and rs7837688). In the meta-analysis of the published genetic association studies, the rs6983267 variant was found to be associated with an increased risk of colorectal neoplasia. The heterozygous GT carriers showed a 20% increased risk of colorectal neoplasia (OR = 1.20, 95% CI = 1.16–1.25; random effects model) with a summary OR for homozygous GG carriers of 1.39 (95% CI = 1.32–1.48; random effects model) compared to the TT genotype carriers. We found no significant differences between the association of rs6983267 and colorectal cancer and colorectal adenomas. In summary, our study confirms that the variant rs6983267 is a risk factor for colorectal neoplasia in various populations, including the Chinese population
Comprehensive Utilization Technology of Laterite Nickel Ore Residue
This is an article in the field of ceramics and composites. In order to effectively treat and resource utilize lateritic nickel slag, this study used lateritic nickel slags as raw materials and measured the pH value of leaching solution, metal leaching concentration, material unconfined compressive strength, dry shrinkage, elastic modulus, permeability coefficient and other indexes of the cementing material formed by cement solidification, and analyzed the feasibility of using it as backfill material for construction land or highway construction engineering materials. The results show that the cementitious material is made of waste slag (dry basis) 92%, PO42.5 cement 5%, bentonite 3%, PAC 0.5% and water, the pH value of leaching solution is about 8.45, the concentration of leaching metal ions is less than 0.1 mg/L, the unconfined compressive strength is 1.47 MPa, the modulus of elasticity is 1196 MPa, the permeability coefficient is 8.77×10-7 cm/s, and the dry shrinkage resistance is good. It can be used as backfill material for construction land or highway construction engineering. The raw soil cementitious material made of 92% raw soil (dry basis), 5% PO42.5 cement, 3% bentonite, 0.02% additional CHF and 5%~8% water has better dry shrinkage resistance. It can be used as the surface layer of large volume cementitious material to resist dry shrinkage cracks caused by long-term contact with dry air, protect the waste slag cementitious material in the lower layer and ensure the overall stability of cementitious materials. The above research provides a new way for the comprehensive utilization of laterite nickel slags, and lays a theoretical foundation for the research and engineering practice of waste slag as backfill materials or highway building materials
