In this study, an intelligent wargaming approach is proposed to evaluate the effectiveness of a military operation plan in terms of operational success and survivability of the assets. The proposed application is developed based on classical military decision making and planning (MDMP) workflow for ease of implementation into the real-world applications. Contributions of this study are threefold; a) developing an intelligent wargaming approach to accelerate the course of action (COA) analysis step in the MDMP which leads creating more candidate COAs for a military operation, b) generating effective tactics against the opposite forces to increase operational success, and c) developing an efficient, visual wargame-based MDMP framework for future systems that require a small team of operators to supervise a network of automated agents. Several example engagement scenarios are performed to evaluate the system capabilities and results are given. Moreover, fleet composition issue for automated agents is investigated and the fleet composer algorithm with hyperparameter tuning architecture is proposed

Estimation of attitude using robust adaptive kalman filter

IEEE.This paper proposes a novel covariance-scaling based robust adaptive Kalman filter (RAKF) algorithm for attitude (i.e., roll and pitch) estimation using an inertial measurement unit (IMU) composed of accelerometer and gyroscope triads. KF based and complementary filtering (CF) based approaches are the two common methods for solving the attitude estimation problem. Efficiency and optimality of the KF based attitude filters are correlated with appropriate tuning of the covariance matrices. Manual tuning process is difficult and time-consuming task. The proposed algorithm provides an adaptive way for tuning process and it can accurately estimate the attitude in two axes. The proposed methodology is tested and compared with other existing filtering methodologies in the literature under different dynamical conditions and using real-world experimental dataset in order to validate its effectiveness

Robust Attitude Estimation Using IMU-Only Measurements

© 1963-2012 IEEE.This article proposes two novel covariance-tuning methods to form a robust Kalman filter (RKF) algorithm for attitude (i.e., roll and pitch) estimation using the measurements of only an inertial measurement unit (IMU). KF-based and complementary filtering (CF)-based approaches are the two common methods for solving the attitude estimation problem. Efficiency and optimality of the KF-based attitude filters are correlated with appropriate tuning of the covariance matrices. Manual tuning process is a difficult and time-consuming task. Specifically, the IMU-only attitude estimation filters are prone to the external accelerations unless their covariances are adapted to gain robustness. The proposed algorithms provide an adaptive method for tuning the measurement noise covariance such that they can accurately estimate the attitude in the two axes. The first method relies on a single tuning factor, whereas the second one tunes the covariance with different (multiple) factors for each measurement axis. The proposed methodologies are tested and compared with other existing filtering algorithms in the literature under different dynamical conditions and using real-world experimental datasets in order to validate their effectiveness. Results show that highly dynamic scenarios, especially the multiple tuning factor strategy, can increase the attitude estimation accuracy more than two-times compared to the competitive algorithms

In this study, a questionnaire survey including 56 questions and 154 variables has been undertaken for 74 specialist residents (SpRs) (39 from Dokuz Eyl;uuml;l and 35 from Ege Universities) who have been training in the two university hospitals of Izmir, for the detection of the structure of the actual training programmes, trainer profiles and technical institute equipments in the departments of Basic Sciences, Medical Pathology and Pharmacology. By using this survey, SpRs' demographic informations, training programmes, theoretical and skill activites, educational atmospheres, the trainers' profiles, assessments, audits and professionel developments have been questionned. The rate of response was 71%, and educational programmes, training and technical equipments, efficacy and number of the trainers were found satisfactory in each one of the universities. It has been detected that, the SpRs were permanently assessed and they were able to get training knowledges, skills and attitutes and attend investigation activities during their educational process. This survey study indicated that the training programmes, institute equipments and trainer profiles of the universities were competent for the SpRs'.Bu çalışmada, İzmir'de Dokuz Eylül ve Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanelerinde, kurumların yapısı, donanımı, eğitim programı ve eğitici profilini içeren güncel durumu saptamak amacıyla, Temel Bilimler, Tıbbi Farmakoloji ve Tıbbi Patoloji alanlarında eğitim alan 74 uzmanlık öğrencisine (DEÜTF 39, EÜTF 35) 56 soru ve 154 değişkenden oluşan bir anket formu uygulanmıştır.
