Two new species of the genus Stenus Latreille (subgenus Stenus s. str.) are described: Stenus (s. str.) affinisecretus, sp. n., from Beijing, and S. (s. str.) guandiensis, sp. n., from Shanxi, China. These two new species were collected in the mountain areas. Important morphological characters, like those of hind wings, 8th and 9th abdominal sternites of male, and the aedeagus are illustrated for the new species. All the types are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing

Systematic study of elliptic flow parameter in the relativistic nuclear collisions at RHIC and LHC energies

We employed the new issue of a parton and hadron cascade model PACIAE 2.1 to systematically investigate the charged particle elliptic flow parameter v2v_2 in the relativistic nuclear collisions at RHIC and LHC energies. With randomly sampling the transverse momentum xx and yy components of the particles generated in string fragmentation on the circumference of an ellipse instead of circle originally, the calculated charged particle v2(η)v_2(\eta) and v2(pT)v_2(p_T) fairly reproduce the corresponding experimental data in the Au+Au/Pb+Pb collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}}=0.2/2.76 TeV. In addition, the charged particle v2(η)v_2(\eta) and v2(pT)v_2(p_T) in the p+p collisions at s\sqrt s=7 TeV as well as in the p+Au/p+Pb collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}}=0.2/5.02 TeV are predicted.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure

    1-{2-[(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-amino]-ethyl}-3-methyl-3H-imidazolium hexafluorophosphate

The title Schiff base compound, C13H16N3O+·PF6 −, was derived from the condensation of 2-hydroxybenaldehyde with the ionic liquid 1-(2-aminoethyl)-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate in an ethanol solution. The asymmetric unit comprises one cation and two PF6 − anions. The dihedral angle between the aromatic and imidazole rings is 15.2 (2)°. An intramolecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bond is found which generates an S(6) ring motif

The Association of Parent-Child Communication With Internet Addiction in Left-Behind Children in China: A Cross-Sectional Study

Objective: Internet addiction has emerged as a growing concern worldwide. This study aimed to compare the prevalence of Internet addiction between left-behind children (LBC) and non-left-behind children (non-LBC), and explore the role of paternal and maternal parent-child communication on LBC. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey in rural areas in Anhui, China. The complete data were available from 699 LBC and 740 non-LBC. Multivariable logistic regression was used to examine 1) whether LBC were more likely to develop Internet addiction, and 2) the association between parent-child communication and Internet addiction among LBC. Results: LBC had a higher likelihood to report Internet addiction when compared to non-LBC (OR = 2.03, 95%CI = 1.43–2.88, p \u3c 0.001). Among LBC, parent-child communication (both mother-child and father-child) was protective factor for children’s Internet addiction. The role of mother-child communication played well among male LBC. Conclusions: The lack of parental supervision may lead to Internet addiction. It is highly recommended for migrant parents to improve the quality of communication with their children. Also, gender-matching effects should be considered in the relationship between children’s behavior and parental factors

Higher moment singularities explored by the net proton non-statistical fluctuations

We use the non-statistical fluctuation instead of the full one to explore the higher moment singularities of net proton event distributions in the relativistic Au+Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} from 11.5 to 200 GeV calculated by the parton and hadron cascade model PACIAE. The PACIAE results of mean (MM), variance (σ2\sigma^2), skewness (SS), and kurtosis (κ\kappa) are consistent with the corresponding STAR data. Non-statistical moments are calculated as the difference between the moments derived from real events and the ones from mixed events, which are constructed by combining particles randomly selected from different real events. An evidence of singularity at sNN∼\sqrt{s_{NN}}\sim 60 GeV is first seen in the energy dependent non-statistical SS and SσS\sigma.Comment: 5 pages,5 figure

Serum soluble ST2 is associated with ER-positive breast cancer

BACKGROUND: ST2, a member of the interleukin (IL)-1receptor family, regulates Th1/Th2 immune responses in autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. However, the role of ST2 signaling in tumor growth and metastasis of breast cancers has not been investigated. This study investigated the possible role of soluble ST2 (sST2) in breast cancer. METHODS: The serum levels of IL-33, sST2, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in 150 breast cancer patients and 90 healthy women were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Estrogen receptor(ER), progesterone receptor, human epithelial receptor (HER)-2, and cell cycle regulated protein Ki-67 were measured. Clinical stage, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, and histological type were also recorded. RESULTS: The serum levels of sST2, IL-33, and VEGF were significantly higher in breast cancer patients than in the control group (P < 0.05, each). Serum sST2 levels in ER-positive breast cancer patients were significantly associated with age, histological type, clinical stage, tumor size, and Ki-67 status (P < 0.05, each). Moreover, the serum levels of IL-33 and sST2 in breast cancers significantly correlated with VEGF levels (IL-33: r = 0.375, P < 0.0001; sST2: r = 0.164, P = 0.045). Serum levels of sST2, IL-33, and VEGF decreased after modified radical mastectomy in ER-positive breast cancers. Serum levels of IL-33, sST2, and VEGF and clinicopathological factors were not significantly correlated with disease-free survival and overall survival of ER-positive breast cancer women during follow-up. CONCLUSION: Serum sST2 levels in ER-positive breast cancer patients are significantly associated with factors that indicate poor prognosis
