The role of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration/biopsy in the diagnosis of mediastinal lesions
ObjectiveEndoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration/biopsy (EUS-FNA/FNB) is an accurate technique for sampling the pancreas and mediastinum. The aim of this study was to determine the value of EUS-FNA/FNB in the diagnosis of mediastinal lesions.MethodsData from 107 patients who underwent EUS-FNA/FNB for mediastinal lesions were evaluated.ResultsThe sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of EUS-FNA/FNB for mediastinal lesions were 92.00%, 100%, 100%, and 85%, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of EUS-FNA for malignant mediastinal lesions were 92.00%, 100%, 100%, and 86.00%, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of EUS-FNB for malignant mediastinal lesions were 92.00%, 100%, 100%, and 82.00%, respectively. Except for the discomfort caused by conventional gastroscopy, none of the patients had any complications, such as damage to surrounding large blood vessels or nerves.ConclusionEUS-FNA/FNB is an effective tool for diagnosing unknown mediastinal lesions, without any obvious complications
Stellar Atmospheric Parameters for Cool Dwarfs in Gaia DR3
We provide a catalogue of atmospheric parameters for 1,806,921 cool dwarfs
from Gaia DR3 which lie within the range covered by LAMOST cool dwarf
spectroscopic parameters: 3200 K < T_{eff}< 4300 K, -0.8 < [M/H] < 0.2 dex, and
4.5 <log{g} < 5.5 dex. Our values are derived based on Machine Learning models
trained with multi-band photometry corrected for dust. The photometric data
comprises of optical from SDSS r, i, z bands, near-infrared from 2MASS J, H, K
and mid-infrared from ALLWISE W1, W2. We used both random forest and LightGBM
machine learning models and found similar results from both with an error
dispersion of 68 K, 0.22 dex, and 0.05 dex for T_{eff}, [M/H], and log {g},
respectively. Assessment of the relative feature importance of different
photometric colors indicated W1 -- W2 as most sensitive to both T_{eff} and
log{g}, with J -- H most sensitive to [M/H]. We find that our values show a
good agreement with APOGEE, but are significantly different to those provided
as part of Gaia DR3.Comment: 14 pages, 12 figures, accepted by ApJ

Bis{4-bromo-2-[(2-hydroxyethyl)iminomethyl]phenolato}nickel(II) monohydrate
The title mononuclear nickel complex, [Ni(C9H9BrNO2)2]·H2O, was obtained by the reaction of 5-bromosalicylaldehyde, 2-aminoethanol and nickel nitrate in methanol. The NiII atom is six-coordinated by two phenolate O, two imine N and two hydroxy O atoms from two crystallographically different Schiff base ligands, forming an octahedral geometry. In the crystal, molecules are linked by intermolecular O—H⋯O and O—H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network
Consistency of shared reference frames should be reexamined
In a recent Letter [G. Chiribella et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 120501
(2007)], four protocols were proposed to secretly transmit a reference frame.
Here We point out that in these protocols an eavesdropper can change the
transmitted reference frame without being detected, which means the consistency
of the shared reference frames should be reexamined. The way to check the above
consistency is discussed. It is shown that this problem is quite different from
that in previous protocols of quantum cryptography.Comment: 3 pages, 1 figure, comments are welcom
Magnetic monopole induced polarons in atomic superlattices
Magnetic monopoles have been realized as emergent quasiparticles in both
condensed matter and ultracold atomic platforms, with growing interests in the
coupling effects between the monopole and different magnetic quasiparticles. In
this work, interaction effects between monopoles and magnons are investigated
for an atomic pseudospin chain. We reveal that the monopole can excite a
virtual magnon cloud in the paramagnetic chain, thereby giving rise to a new
type of polaron, the monopole-cored polaron (McP). The McP is composed of the
monopole as the impurity core and the virtual magnon excitation as the dressing
cloud. The magnon dressing facilitates the Dirac string excitation and impacts
the monopole hopping. This induces an anti-trapping effect of the McP, which
refers to the fact that the dressing enhances the mobility of the McP, in
contrast to the self-trapping of the common polarons. Moreover, heterogeneous
bipolarons are shown to exist under the simultaneous doping of a north and a
south monopole. The heterogeneous bipolaron possesses an inner degree of
freedom composed of two identical impurities. Our investigation sheds light on
the understanding of how the coupling between the impurity core and the
dressing cloud can engineer the property of the polaro
Nursing care in osteopetrosis treated by optic nerve decompression under image guidance system combined with endoscopic approach
AIM: To explore the nursing cooperation highlights of eight osteopetrosis patients underwent optic nerve decompression via transsphenoidal microsurgical approach instead of routine pathway, and to improve the quality of nursing cooperation. METHODS: We enrolled 8 cases(left eye in 3 cases, right eye in 5 cases)of osteopetrosis patients referred from the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University during February 2012 to November 2016. Patients received ophthalmic examinations including visual acuity and diagnostic imaging tests in pre-operation and post-operation. All eyes were performed surgical optic nerve decompression through endoscopic approach in assist of image guidance system. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data and surgical cooperation procedure of these cases and summarized nursing cooperation experience. RESULTS: The operations of 8 patients were completed successfully without massive hemorrhage. Mean visual acuity improved from pre-operation(2.5±2.1)to post-operation(3.4±1.9). Cerebrospinal fluid leakage occurred in 1 patient and was instantly repaired during the operation. We performed the nursing strategy as postural drainage, condition monitoring and conscious assessment intra-and post-operation. CONCLUSION: It is the critical for this kind of surgery that both circulating nurse's high-skilled cooperation to the connection and operation of the navigation system, to treat with complication during the surgery, and scrub nurse's sufficient preparation of surgical instruments and consumables, proficient equipment delivery, meticulous management, use and maintenance of equipment

Quantum key distribution without alternative measurements and rotations
A quantum key distribution protocol based on entanglement swapping is
proposed. Through choosing particles by twos from the sequence and performing
Bell measurements, two communicators can detect eavesdropping and obtain the
secure key. Because the two particles measured together are selected out
randomly, we need neither alternative measurements nor rotations of the Bell
states to obtain security.Comment: 11 pages, no figures, a modified version of quant-ph/0412014, add a
