Kaons and pions in strange quark matter
The behavior of kaons and pions in strange quark matter in weak equilibrium,
is investigated within the SU(3) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio [NJL] model. This work
focuses a region of high densities where the behavior of mesons has not been
explored in the framework of this model. It is found that above the density
where strange valence quarks appear in the medium, , a
change of behavior of different observables is observed indicating a tendency
to the restoration of flavor symmetry. In particular, the splitting between
charge multiplets, decrease and
the low energy modes with quantum numbers of , which

Effective restoration of chiral and axial symmetries at finite temperature and density
The effective restoration of chiral and axial symmetries is investigated
within the framework of the SU(3) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The topological
susceptibility, modeled from lattice data at finite temperature, is used to
extract the temperature dependence of the coupling strength of the anomaly. The
study of the scalar and pseudoscalar mixing angles is performed in order to
discuss the evolution of the flavor combinations of pairs and its
consequences for the degeneracy of chiral partners. A similar study at zero

Electron cloud buildup and impedance effects on beam dynamics in the future circular e+e− collider and experimental characterization of thin TiZrV vacuum chamber coatings
The Future Circular Collider FCC-ee is a study toward a high luminosity electron-positron collider with a centre-of-mass energy from 91 GeV to 365 GeV. Due to the beam parameters and pipe dimensions, collective effects and electron cloud can be very critical aspects for the machine and can represent the main limitations to its performance. An estimation of the electron cloud build up in the main machine components and an impedance model are required to analyze the induced instabilities and to find solutions for their mitigation. Special attention has been given to the resistive wall impedance associated with a layer of nonevaporable getter (NEG) coating on the vacuum chamber required for electron cloud mitigation. The studies presented in this paper will show that minimizing the thickness of this coating layer is mandatory to increase the single bunch instability thresholds in the proposed lepton collider at 45.6 GeV. For this reason, NEG thin films with thicknesses below 250 nm have been investigated by means of numerical simulations to minimize the resistive wall impedance. In parallel, an extensive measurement campaign was performed at CERN to characterize these thin films, with the purpose of finding the minimum effective thickness satisfying vacuum and electron cloud requirements
Finding RR Lyrae Stars with SkyMapper: an Observational Test
One of the major science goals of the SkyMapper Survey of the Southern
Hemisphere sky is the determination of the shape and extent of the halo of the
Galaxy. In this paper we quantify the likely efficiency and completeness of the
survey as regards the detection of RR Lyrae variable stars, which are excellent
tracers of the halo stellar population. We have accomplished this via
observations of the RR Lyrae-rich globular cluster NGC 3201. We find that for
single epoch uvgri observations followed by two further epochs of g, r imaging,
as per the intended three-epoch survey strategy, we recover known RR Lyraes
with a completeness exceeding 90%. We also investigate boundaries in the
gravity-sensitive single-epoch two-color diagram that yield high completeness
and high efficiency (i.e., minimal contamination by non-RR Lyraes) and the

Avoided crossings in mesoscopic systems: electron propagation on a non-uniform magnetic cylinder
We consider an electron constrained to move on a surface with revolution
symmetry in the presence of a constant magnetic field parallel to the
surface axis. Depending on and the surface geometry the transverse part of
the spectrum typically exhibits many crossings which change to avoided
crossings if a weak symmetry breaking interaction is introduced. We study the
effect of such perturbations on the quantum propagation. This problem admits a
natural reformulation to which tools from molecular dynamics can be applied. In
turn, this leads to the study of a perturbation theory for the time dependent
Born-Oppenheimer approximation
Visiting experiences and behavioural types in cultural audiences: an analysis of two museums in Lisbon
Audiences of cultural events are subject to diverse kinds of experiences in their exercise, which de termine the structure of their to structure their consumption practices and cultural habits. Mapping and analysing visitors’ experiences and their visiting styles is thus fundamental tocenhance museums’ offer appeal. Drawing on a conceptual framework which identifies four main kinds of experiences in cultural practices - (i) intellectual experience (ii) emotional experience; (iii) social experience; and (iv) recreational experience, the audiences of two museums in the city of Lisbon (Fado Museum and Puppets Museum) are analysed in this paper. Considering a typology of diverse audience categories (permanent collection, temporary exhibitions, other events), a detailed study of the assessment of different experiences is pursued, with the aim to confront and identify relevant discriminant categories such as socio-demographic characteristics (e.g. age, gender, qualifications, professional status, nationality, residence, previous artistic practices) and cultural habits (considering their visits to other cultural facilities and events).
