Externalism, internalism and logical truth

The aim of this paper is to show what sorts of logics are required by externalist and internalist accounts of the meanings of natural kind nouns. These logics give us a new perspective from which to evaluate the respective positions in the externalist--internalist debate about the meanings of such nouns. The two main claims of the paper are the following: first, that adequate logics for internalism and externalism about natural kind nouns are second-order logics; second, that an internalist second-order logic is a free logic—a second order logic free of existential commitments for natural kind nouns, while an externalist second-order logic is not free of existential commitments for natural kind nouns—it is existentially committed

Nanocomposite Fe1xO=Fe3O4, Fe=Fe1xO thin films prepared by RF sputtering and revealed by magnetic coupling effects

Magnetic and semi-conducting nanocomposite iron oxide thin films have been prepared under bias polarization, by radio-frequency sputtering of a magnetite target. The nature of the phases obtained in the thin films depends on the bias power density. The increase in power density, from 0 to 110mW=cm2, allows the preparation of magnetite, magnetite/wustite and wustite/a-iron nanocomposites successively. Magnetic measurements at low temperature show exchange bias for two-phases films even though the minor phase is not detected by grazing angle X-ray diffraction. The exchange bias can reach very high values of about 4300 Oe. Electrical properties at room temperature are interpreted taking into account both the modifications of the film compactness, and the nature of the phases from which they are made

Patterned ferrimagnetic thin films of spinel ferrites obtained directly by laser irradiation

Some spinel ferrites can be oxidized or transformed at moderate temperatures. Such modifications werecarried out on thin films of mixed cobalt copper ferrites and maghemite, by heating small regions with alow-power laser spot applied for about 100 ns. The very simple laser heating process, which can be donedirectly with a conventional photolithographic machine, made it possible to generate two-dimensionalmagnetization heterogeneities in ferrimagnetic films. Such periodic structures could display the specificproperties of magneto-photonic or magnonic crystals

A propósito de los conocimientos necesarios pero no enseñados explícitamente

El conjunto de mis trabajos concierne a lo que se designa con el término de curriculum oculto, es decir los aprendizajes que no aparecen como objetivos explícitos de la enseñanza y que sin embargo un alumno tiene que realizar para tener éxito en el sistema escolar. Como lo comprobarán, mi punto de vista sobre este problema se transformó mucho desde el inicio de mi trabajo hasta mis reflexiones más recientes. Por lo tanto, esta conferencia incluye tres partes: en la primera, presentaré mi opción inicial; en la segunda, definiré mi punto de vista actual, es decir propondré un marco teórico para analizar el problema de los aprendizajes ocultos. En la última parte, formularé hipótesis sobre los mecanismos de las disfunciones del curriculum oculto
