Cyclic Meir-Keeler contraction and its fractals

Get PDF
In present times, there has been a substantial endeavor to generalize the classical notion of iterated function system (IFS). We introduce a new type of non-linear contraction namely cyclic Meir-Keeler contraction, which is a generalization of the famous Banach contraction. We show the existence and uniqueness of the fixed point for the cyclic Meir-Keeler contraction. Using this result, we propose the cyclic Meir-Keeler IFS in the literature for construction of fractals. Furthermore, we extend the theory of countable IFS and generalized IFS by using these cyclic Meir-Keeler contraction maps

Ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity in highly resistive Pb(0.7)Sr(0.3)(Fe(0.012)Ti(0.988))O(3) nanoparticles and its conduction by variable-range-hopping mechanism

The enhancement in ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity at room temperature for Pb0.7Sr0.3Fe0.012Ti0.988O3 PSFT nanoparticles is proved by magnetization and polarization hysteresis loop. The x-ray diffraction and micrograph show that the PSFT nanoparticles have distorted tetragonal single phase, and their average particle’s size is 8 nm. The effect of Sr content reduces the particle size, and hence the multiferroic system becomes more resistive, which dominates the superparamagnetic/paraelectric relaxation. The variable-range-hopping conduction mechanism explained the high resistivity of PSFT nanoparticles, which suggests that the room temperature movement of electrons involves short-range order through defect states

Latitudinal trends in O3, CO, CH4 and SF6 over the Indian Ocean during the INDOEX IFP-1999 ship cruise

Surface measurements of ozone (O3), carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH4) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) were made over the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean during the INDOEX field experiment in January- March 1999 covering the latitude range from 17°N to 20°S. Observations show decreasing trends in all these trace gases from the Indian coastal region to the open Indian Ocean. Ozone with a lifetime of few days, shortest among the species presented here, shows large variations while SF6, which has relatively longer lifetime, shows smaller variations. Ozone also shows clearly the effect of ITCZ and its movement. These observations show higher ozone near the Indian coastal region in January 1999 than in March 1999 and also compared to the observed ozone during the INDOEX-1998 cruise. This is believed to be due to strong anti-cyclonic conditions in January 1999 bringing more polluted air from the Indian continent. A decrease in the latitudinal gradient in CH4 was observed in 1999 compared to that in 1998 in the same region, indicating slower growth rate in 1998-1999 period

Near-Infrared Fluorescence Image-Guided Surgery in Esophageal and Gastric Cancer Operations

Get PDF
Background: Near-infrared fluorescence image-guided surgery helps surgeons to see beyond the classical eye vision. Over the last few years, we have witnessed a revolution which has begun in the field of image-guided surgery. Purpose, and Research design: Fluorescence technology using indocyanine green (ICG) has shown promising results in many organs, and in this review article, we wanted to discuss the 6 main domains where fluorescence image-guided surgery is currently used for esophageal and gastric cancer surgery. Study sample and data collection: Visualization of lymphatic vessels, tumor localization, fluorescence angiography for anastomotic evaluation, thoracic duct visualization, tracheal blood flow analysis, and sentinel node biopsy are discussed. Conclusions: It seems that this technology has already found its place in surgery. However, new possibilities and research avenues in this area will probably make it even more important in the near future

Optimization of culture conditions for high frequency in vitro shoot multiplication in sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.)

Present study deals with the optimization of various culture conditions for initiating high frequency in vitro shoot multiplication in two early maturing high yielding sugarcane genotypes namely Co98014 & Co89003. On the behalf of the findings of this study, it was concluded that the temperature, photoperiod and culture media pH affected the frequency of in vitro shoot multiplication in both sugarcane genotypes at a significant level. In both genotypes high frequency shoot multiplication was recorded at growth room temperature 25ºC, 16h/8h light/dark photoperiod and culture media pH 6.0. Genotype Co89003 exhibited highest shoot regeneration and multiplication under various culture conditions. The present study suggests the necessity of investigation of these culture conditions separately upon individual sugarcane genotypes prior to develop efficient in vitro plant regeneration protocol for commercial purposes

Comprehensive review of fluorescence applications in gynecology

Get PDF
Since the introduction of indocyanine green (ICG) as a fluorophore in near-infrared imaging, fluorescence visualization has become an essential tool in many fields of surgery. In the field of gynecology, recent new applications have been proposed and found their place in clinical practice. Different applications in gynecology were investigated, subcategorized, and overviewed concerning surgical applications and available dyes. Specific applications in which fluorescence-guided surgery was implemented in gynecology are described in this manuscript—namely, sentinel node biopsy, mesometrium visualization, angiography of different organs, safety issues in pregnant women, ureters visualization, detection of peritoneal metastases, targeted fluorophores for cancer detection, fluorescent contamination hysterectomy, lymphography for lower limb lymphedema prevention, tumor margin detection, endometriosis, and metastases mapping. With evolving technology, further innovative research on the new applications of fluorescence visualization in cancer surgery may help to establish these techniques as standards of high-quality surgery in gynecology. However, more investigations are necessary in order to assess if these innovative tools can also be effective to improve patient outcomes and quality of life in different gynecologic malignancies

The Correlation between X-ray spectral slope and FeKalpha line energy in radio-quiet active galactic nuclei

A significant correlation between FeKalpha line energy and X-ray spectral slope has been discovered among radio-quiet active galactic nuclei. The ionization stage of the bulk of the FeKalpha emitting material is not the same in all active galactic nuclei and is related to the shape of the X-ray continua. Active galactic nuclei with a steep X-ray spectrum tend to have a fluorescence FeKalpha line from highly ionized material. In the narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies with steeper X-ray spectrum (Gamma_X > 2.1), the FeKalpha line originates from highly ionized material. In the Seyfert 1 galaxies and quasars with flatter X-ray spectrum (Gamma_X < 2.1), bulk of the FeKalpha emission arises from near neutral or weakly ionized material. The correlation is an important observational characteristic related to the accretion process in radio quiet active galactic nuclei and is driven by a fundamental physical parameter which is likely to be the accretion rate relative to the Eddington rate.Comment: 4 pages, To apear in ApJ Letter

A flap graft technique for the reconstruction of extensor mechanism of the knee in a case of peri-articular synovial sarcoma managed by limb salvage

Synovial sarcoma is a malignant soft tissue tumour arising from the primitive mesenchymal cells which has a delayed progression has a slow progression and often mis-diagnosed. A fifty-two years old female presented with complaint of swelling, pain and inability to move her left knee for three years duration. Presented with recurrence for which Wide excision of the tumour, with reconstruction of knee using custom mega-prosthesis and extensor mechanism reconstruction was done. Patient had a good functional outcome and no recurrence
