Adenocarcinoma of Nictitans Gland in a Cow- A Case Report
A 7 year old cow was presented to the College of Veterinary Science clinic (Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati, India), with the history of growth appeared on the third eyelid of the left eye. The mass was surgically excised, and subjected to histopathological examination. Histopathological examination revealed lobules of irregular size and shape with proliferated cells, which were arranged as small tubules with or without necrotic centers. Cells were anaphylactic, large and irregular with hyperchromatic nuclei. Acini showed many layers of cells with papillary projections. Mitotic figures were also present

Kloniranje, ekspresija i karakterizacija paraflagelarnog gena Rod 2 biÄaÅ”a Trypanosoma evansi
Paraflagellar rod is the major structural component of the trypanosomatid flagellum and is identified as a complex lattice of filaments which runs parallel to the axoneme throughout most of the flagellar length. The present study was carried out to investigate the existence of the paraflagellar rod (PFR 2) gene in Trypanosoma evansi infecting Indian cattle. Local isolates of T. evansi collected from naturally infected cow were multiplied in Wistar rats. Complementary DNA (cDNA) was synthesized from the RNA of host cell free T. evansi parasites by reverse transcription. The gel purified PCR product (PFR 2 gene of T. evansi) was cloned into the pTZ57R/T vector system. The nucleotide sequence of the PFR 2 gene of the T. evansi S.V.V.U. isolate (Accession No. KT277497) obtained in the present study revealed 100% homology with T. evansi China isolate and 99% homology with T. evansi Izatnagar and Bikaner isolates. The recombinant protein was sub-cloned into pET 32a and expressed in the BL21 (DE3) pLysS expression system. The PFR 2 gene of T. evansi S.V.V.U. isolate was further characterized by determination of its protein profile with SDS-PAGE and western blotting. Indirect ELISA was optimized for detection of the specific antibody titre against the recombinant protein of the PFR 2 gene of T. evansi. In the kinetoplastid species the PFR 2 gene is highly conserved. Therefore the PFR 2 gene was suggested as a vaccine candidate, as well as a diagnostic antigen. Nukleotidna sekvencija gena PFR2 biÄaÅ”a T. evansi, izolat S.V.V.U. (pristupni broj KT277497) dobivena u ovom istraživanju pokazala je 100 %-tnu sliÄnost s izolatom T. evansi China i 99 %-tnu s izolatom T. evansi Izatnagar i Bikaner. Rekombinantni protein ponovno je kloniran u sustavu pET 32a i prikazan u sustavu BL21 (DE3) pLysS. Gen PFR2 biÄaÅ”a T. evansi, izolat S.V.V.U. dalje je karakteriziran odreÄivanjem proteinskog profila metodama SDS-PAGE i Western blotting.

Not AvailableFor the present study, 425 genitalia of non-descript buffalo cows aged 4 to 10 years with no breeding history were procured from the animals slaughtered in and around Tirupati. Cystic ovarian degeneration (COD) which includes follicular cyst (5.41 pert), luteal cyst (0.47 pert) & cystic corpus luteum (0.71 pert) was observed in 28 (6.59 pert) genitalia. Sixteen genitalia (3.76 pert) showed mixed pathological conditions such as chronic endometritis with follicular cysts (3.29 pert) and chronic endometritis with luteal cysts (0.47 pert). Not Availabl
A MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF FOUR SPECIES SYN-ECOSYMBIOSIS COMPRISING OF PREY-PREDATION, MUTUALISM AND COMMENSALISMS-I (FULLY WASHED OUT STATE)
ABSTRACT This investigation deals with a mathematical model of a four species (S 1, S 2, S 3 and S 4 ) Syn-Ecological system (Fully Washed out State). S 2 is a predator surviving on the prey S 1 : the prey is a commensal to the host S 3 which itself is in mutualism with the fourth species S 4 . S 2 and S 4 are neutral. The mathematical model equations characterizing the synecosystem constitute a set of four first order non-linear coupled differential equations. There are in all sixteen equilibrium points. Criteria for the asymptotic stability of one of the sixteen equilibrium points: the fully washed out state is established. The linearised equations for the perturbations over the equilibrium point are analyzed to establish the criteria for stability. The system is noticed to be locally stable. Trajectories of the perturbations have been illustrated
Imunno-modulatory effect of Ocimum sanctum against endosulfan induced immunotoxicity in Wistar Rat
The present experiment was designed to make a systematic study of experimentally induced immunotoxicity of endosulfan and its amelioration with Ocimum sanctum in male Wistar rats at 6, 3 and 1.5 mg / Kg b.wt to groups II, III and IV by mixing in ground nut oil for 6 weeks. To the groups V, VI and VII in addition to endosulfan as above mentioned dose, Ocimum sanctum was given at 200 mg / kg b.wt daily per orally for the same duration to study immuno modulatory effect. Group I served as oil control and Group VIII as Ocimum sanctum control. Significant reduction in the both HA titer and DNCB contact sensitivity score was observed in the endosulfan treated groups indicates endosulfan has immunotoxic effect. But significant improvement in the immunity was observed in the Ocimum sanctum treated groups indicates the immuno modulatory property. [Veterinary World 2011; 4(1.000): 25-27
