Did Information Amount Matter in Framing Effect?
Framing the product attribute(s) in either positive or negative way can result in different responses. This phenomenon is referred to attribute framing effect. This article reported results from a laboratory experiment which examines the influence of message framing and information amounts on Internet buyers’ judgments. The amount of information was defined in terms of the number of attribute information of the target product. The result indicated significant framing effects no matter how much attribute information was presented. Positive information leads to more favorable responses than negative information. In addition, respondents who were exposed to more amounts of positive information showed more favorable evaluations than those who were exposed to less amounts of positive information condition. However, more amounts of negative information did not result in less favorable responses
Scanning tunneling microscopy and Raman spectroscopy of polymeric sp-sp2 carbon atomic wires synthesized on the Au(111) surface
Long linear carbon nanostructures based on sp-hybridization can be synthesized by exploiting on-surface synthesis of halogenated precursors evaporated on Au(111), thus opening a way to investigations by surface-science techniques. By means of an experimental approach combining scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM and STS) with ex situ Raman spectroscopy we investigate the structural, electronic and vibrational properties of polymeric sp-sp2 carbon atomic wires composed by sp-carbon chains connected through phenyl groups. Density-functional-theory (DFT) calculations of the structure and the electronic density of states allow us to simulate STM images and to compute Raman spectra. The comparison of experimental data with DFT simulations unveil the properties and the formation stages as a function of the annealing temperature. Atomic-scale structural information from STM complement the Raman sensitivity to the single molecular bond to open the way to detailed understanding of these novel carbon nanostructures
R-parity violation effect on the top-quark pair production at linear colliders
We investigate in detail the effects of the R-parity lepton number violation
in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) on the top-quark pair
production via both and collision modes at the linear
colliders. We find that with the present experimental constrained
parameters, the effect from interactions on the processes
and could be
significant and may reach -30% and several percent, respectively. Our results
show that the effects are sensitive to the c.m.s. energy and the
relevant parameters. However, they are not sensitive to squark and
slepton masses when (or ) and are almost independent on the Comment: Accepted by Phys.Rev.
Moyal Representation of the String Field Star Product in the Presence of a B-background
In this paper we show that in the presence of an anti-symmetric tensor
-background, Witten's star algebra for open string fields persists to
possess the structure of a direct product of commuting Moyal pairs. The
interplay between the noncommutativity due to three-string overlap and that due
to the -background is our main concern. In each pair of noncommutative
directions parallel to the -background, the Moyal pairs mix string modes in
the two directions and are labeled, in addition to a continuous parameter, by
{\it two} discrete values as well. However, the Moyal parameters are
-dependent only for discrete pairs. We have also demonstrated the large-
contraction of the star algebra, with one of the discrete Moyal pairs dropping
out while the other giving rise to the center-of-mass noncommutative function

地磁気嵐とその発生起源である太陽現象をペアとして捉える太陽・地球電磁関係物理学の手法に従い,従来のフレア型急始(Sc)嵐,コロナホール型緩始(Sg)嵐,フィラメント消失型Sc嵐のほかに,本研究では新たに次のような赤道横断磁気ループ型Sc嵐が見出された. 太陽の赤道を跨ぐ大きな磁気ループ(Transequatorial loop:TELと略称)が急激に膨張,爆発して,大規模なコロナ質量放出(CME)を発生させる事実は半世紀以上前から観測され,太陽のふち(limb)現象として,太陽物理学分野で大きく注目されてきた.このTEL型爆発は太陽のふち(limb)で頻繁に観測されるからには,太陽正面でも発生するはずであると推定して調べたところ,ディスク中心付近でかすかな線条構造が認められてから数日後に,地球で磁気嵐が発生していることが見出された.この線条付近ではフレアもフィラメントもコロナホールも認められなかったことから,これは新しいTEL型Sc嵐であると認定した.このようなTELは南北両半球にある黒点群または黒点消滅後の残留磁域とつながっているので,磁気ループの軸磁場の方向が求められる.この軸磁場は惑星間磁場(IMF)の強いBz成分を生むので,その地磁気嵐構成への影響について調べた.TEL型Sc嵐については,将来様々な興味深い研究成果が期待されるが,現時点で考えられる様々な課題についての提言がなされた.Following the traditional way of expression, geomagnetic storms have been classified into three types; flare-type Sc storms, CH-type Sg storms, and DB-type Sc storms (Sc:sudden commencement;CH:coronal hole;g:gradual;DB:disparition brusque).We have discovered that some transequatorial loops (TEL) give rise to geomagnetic storms, when the TEL explodes near the central meridian of the sun. The axial magnetic direction of the TEL can be inferred, since TELs connect sunspot groups or remnant magnetic regions between the northern and southern hemispheres. Since the axial fields tend to have a large Bz component in interplanetary space, we have examined various effects on the configuration of geomagnetic storms. Topics are proposed for future works on the TEL-type Sc storms
Comparison of s- and d-wave gap symmetry in nonequilibrium superconductivity
Recent application of ultrafast pump/probe optical techniques to
superconductors has renewed interest in nonequilibrium superconductivity and
the predictions that would be available for novel superconductors, such as the
high-Tc cuprates. We have reexamined two of the classical models which have
been used in the past to interpret nonequilibrium experiments with some
success: the mu* model of Owen and Scalapino and the T* model of Parker.
Predictions depend on pairing symmetry. For instance, the gap suppression due
to excess quasiparticle density n in the mu* model, varies as n^{3/2} in d-wave
as opposed to n for s-wave. Finally, we consider these models in the context of
S-I-N tunneling and optical excitation experiments. While we confirm that
recent pump/probe experiments in YBCO, as presently interpreted, are in
conflict with d-wave pairing, we refute the further claim that they agree with

Pseudoscalar Higgs boson production associated with a single bottom quark at hadron colliders
We compute the complete next-to-leading order (NLO) SUSY-QCD corrections for
the associated production of a pseudoscalar Higgs boson with a bottom quark via
bottom-gluon fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Fermilab
Tevatron. We find that the NLO QCD correction in the MSSM reaches
at the LHC and at the Tevatron in our chosen parameter space
Relation Between Chiral Susceptibility and Solutions of Gap Equation in Nambu--Jona-Lasinio Model
We study the solutions of the gap equation, the thermodynamic potential and
the chiral susceptibility in and beyond the chiral limit at finite chemical
potential in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model. We give an explicit relation
between the chiral susceptibility and the thermodynamic potential in the NJL
model. We find that the chiral susceptibility is a quantity being able to
represent the furcation of the solutions of the gap equation and the
concavo-convexity of the thermodynamic potential in NJL model. It indicates
that the chiral susceptibility can identify the stable state and the
possibility of the chiral phase transition in NJL model.Comment: 21 pages, 6 figures, misprints are correcte
Properties of high-frequency wave power halos around active regions: an analysis of multi-height data from HMI and AIA onboard SDO
We study properties of waves of frequencies above the photospheric acoustic
cut-off of 5.3 mHz, around four active regions, through spatial maps
of their power estimated using data from Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI)
and Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) onboard Solar Dynamics Observatory
(SDO). The wavelength channels 1600 {\AA} and 1700 {\AA} from AIA are now known
to capture clear oscillation signals due to helioseismic p modes as well as
waves propagating up through to the chromosphere. Here we study in detail, in
comparison with HMI Doppler data, properties of the power maps, especially the
so called 'acoustic halos' seen around active regions, as a function of wave
frequencies, inclination and strength of magnetic field (derived from the
vector field observations by HMI) and observation height. We infer possible
signatures of (magneto-)acoustic wave refraction from the observation height
dependent changes, and hence due to changing magnetic strength and geometry, in
the dependences of power maps on the photospheric magnetic quantities. We
discuss the implications for theories of p mode absorption and mode conversions

Immunohistochemical detection of macrophage migration inhibitory factor in fetal and adult bovine epididymis: Release by the apocrine secretion mode?
Originally defined as a lymphokine inhibiting the random migration of macrophages, the macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is an important mediator of the host response to infection. Beyond its function as a classical cytokine, MIF is currently portrayed as a multifunctional protein with growth-regulating properties present in organ systems beyond immune cells. In previous studies, we detected substantial amounts of MIF in the rat epididymis and epididymal spermatozoa, where it appears to play a role during post-testicular sperm maturation and the acquisition of fertilization ability. To explore its presence in other species not yet examined in this respect, we extended the range of studies to the bull. Using a polyclonal antibody raised against MIF purified from bovine eye lenses, we detected MIF in the epithelium of the adult bovine epididymis with the basal cells representing a prominently stained cell type. A distinct accumulation of MIF at the apical cell pole of the epithelial cells and in membranous vesicles localized in the lumen of the epididynnal duct was obvious. In the fetal bovine epididymis, we also detected MIF in the epithelium, whereas MIF accumulation was evident at the apical cell surface and in apical protrusions. By immuno-electron microscopy of the adult bovine epididymis, we localized MIF in apical protrusions of the epithelial cells and in luminal membrane-bound vesicles that were found in close proximity to sperm cells. Although the precise origin of the MIF-containing vesicles remains to be delineated, our morphological observations support the hypothesis that they become detached from the apical surface of the epididymal epithelial cells. Additionally, an association of MIF with the outer dense fibers of luminal spermatozoa was demonstrated. Data obtained in this study suggest MIF release by an apocrine secretion mode in the bovine epididymis. Furthermore, MIF localized in the basal cells of the epithelium and in the connective tissue could be responsible for regulating the migration of macrophages in order to avoid contact of immune cells with spermatozoa that carry a wide range of potent antigens.
