Electronic Structure of Transition-Metal Dicyanamides Me[N(CN)] (Me = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu)
The electronic structure of Me[N(CN)] (Me=Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu)
molecular magnets has been investigated using x-ray emission spectroscopy (XES)
and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) as well as theoretical
density-functional-based methods. Both theory and experiments show that the top
of the valence band is dominated by Me 3d bands, while a strong hybridization
between C 2p and N 2p states determines the valence band electronic structure
away from the top. The 2p contributions from non-equivalent nitrogen sites have
been identified using resonant inelastic x-ray scattering spectroscopy with the
excitation energy tuned near the N 1s threshold. The binding energy of the Me
3d bands and the hybridization between N 2p and Me 3d states both increase in
going across the row from Me = Mn to Me = Cu. Localization of the Cu 3d states
also leads to weak screening of Cu 2p and 3s states, which accounts for shifts
in the core 2p and 3s spectra of the transition metal atoms. Calculations
indicate that the ground-state magnetic ordering, which varies across the
series is largely dependent on the occupation of the metal 3d shell and that
structural differences in the superexchange pathways for different compounds

Sorovares de Leptospira interrogans isolados de casos de leptospirose humana em São Paulo, Brasil Serovars of Leptospira interrogans isolated from human leptospirosis in São Paulo, Brazil
Sorovares de Leptospira interrogans isolados de pacientes hospitalizados na cidade de São Paulo no perÃodo de 1986 a 1989, foram identificados pela técnica de absorção de aglutininas no Setor de Leptospirose do Instituto Adolfo Lutz, São Paulo. Das 18 cepas sorotipadas, 14 foram idênticas ao sorovar copenhageni (sorogrupo Icterohaemorrhagiae), 2 ao canicoia (sorogrupo Canicola), 1 ao castellonis (sorogrupo Ballum) e 1 ao sorogrupo Pomona (sorovar ainda não definido). Os autores ressaltam a freqüência do sorovar copenhageni em 100% das cepas dentro do sorogrupo Icterohaemorrhagiae e sugerem mais estudos sobre os sorovares prevalentes em nosso meio como subsÃdio à epidemiologia desta zoonose<br>Eighteen strains of L. interrogans isolated from human cases were serotyped by the Agglutinin-absorption test at Instituto Adolfo Lutz in São Paulo, Brazil. Fourteen were identified as serovar copenhageni (Icterohaemorrhagiae serogroup), 2 as canicola (Canicola serogroup), 1 as castellonis (Ballum serogroup) and 1 as Pomona serogroup (serovar not yet defined). The frequency of serovar copenhageni in 100% of the isolates in Icterohaemorrhagiae serogroup is emphasized and more studies to verify the real serovars prevalence as subsidy to the epidemiology of this infection are suggested by the author
