    UK export performance research - review and implications

    Get PDF
    Previous research on export performance has been criticized for being a mosaic of autonomous endeavours and for a lack of theoretical development. Building upon extant models of export performance, and a review and analysis of research on export performance in the UK for the period 1990-2005, an integrated model of export performance is developed and theoretical explanations of export performance are put forward. It is suggested that a multi-theory approach to explaining export performance is viable. Management and policy implications for the UK emerging from the review and synthesis of the literature and the integrated model are discussed

    Partial wave analysis of J/\psi \to \gamma \phi \phi

    Using 5.8×107J/ψ5.8 \times 10^7 J/\psi events collected in the BESII detector, the radiative decay J/ψγϕϕγK+KKS0KL0J/\psi \to \gamma \phi \phi \to \gamma K^+ K^- K^0_S K^0_L is studied. The ϕϕ\phi\phi invariant mass distribution exhibits a near-threshold enhancement that peaks around 2.24 GeV/c2c^{2}. A partial wave analysis shows that the structure is dominated by a 0+0^{-+} state (η(2225)\eta(2225)) with a mass of 2.240.02+0.030.02+0.032.24^{+0.03}_{-0.02}{}^{+0.03}_{-0.02} GeV/c2c^{2} and a width of 0.19±0.030.04+0.060.19 \pm 0.03^{+0.06}_{-0.04} GeV/c2c^{2}. The product branching fraction is: Br(J/ψγη(2225))Br(η(2225)ϕϕ)=(4.4±0.4±0.8)×104Br(J/\psi \to \gamma \eta(2225))\cdot Br(\eta(2225)\to \phi\phi) = (4.4 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.8)\times 10^{-4}.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures. corrected proof for journa

    Search for the Rare Decays J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e, J/Psi --> D- e+ nu_e, and J/Psi --> D0bar e+ e-

    Full text link
    We report on a search for the decays J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e + c.c., J/Psi --> D- e+ nu_e + c.c., and J/Psi --> D0bar e+ e- + c.c. in a sample of 5.8 * 10^7 J/Psi events collected with the BESII detector at the BEPC. No excess of signal above background is observed, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions are set: B(J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e + c.c.)<4.8*10^-5, B(J/Psi --> D- e+ nu_e + c.c.) D0bar e+ e- + c.c.)<1.1*10^-5Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure

    With a sample of 14 million psi(2S) events collected by the BESII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC), the decay channels psi(2S)->p p-bar, Lambda Lambda-bar, Sigma0 Sigma0-bar, Xi Xi-bar are measured, and their branching ratios are determined to be (3.36+-0.09+-0.24)*10E-4, (3.39+-0.20+-0.32)*10E-4, (2.35+-0.36+-0.32)*10E-4, (3.03+-0.40+-0.32)*10E-4, respectively. In the decay psi(2S)->p p-bar, the angular distribution parameter alpha is determined to be 0.82+-0.17+-0.04.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure

    A study of charged kappa in J/ψK±Ksππ0J/\psi \to K^{\pm} K_s \pi^{\mp} \pi^0

    Full text link
    Based on 58×10658 \times 10^6 J/ψJ/\psi events collected by BESII, the decay J/ψK±Ksππ0J/\psi \to K^{\pm} K_s \pi^{\mp} \pi^0 is studied. In the invariant mass spectrum recoiling against the charged K(892)±K^*(892)^{\pm}, the charged κ\kappa particle is found as a low mass enhancement. If a Breit-Wigner function of constant width is used to parameterize the kappa, its pole locates at (849±7714+18)i(256±4022+46)(849 \pm 77 ^{+18}_{-14}) -i (256 \pm 40 ^{+46}_{-22}) MeV/c2c^2. Also in this channel, the decay J/ψK(892)+K(892)J/\psi \to K^*(892)^+ K^*(892)^- is observed for the first time. Its branching ratio is (1.00±0.190.32+0.11)×103(1.00 \pm 0.19 ^{+0.11}_{-0.32}) \times 10^{-3}.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure

    Partial wave analyses of J/psi to gamma pi^+ pi^- and gamma pi^0 pi^0

    Full text link
    Results are presented on J/psi radiative decays to pi^+pi^- and pi^0pi^0 based on a sample of 58M J/psi events taken with the BESII detector. Partial wave analyses are carried out using the relativistic covariant tensor amplitude method in the 1.0 to 2.3 GeV/c^2 pipi mass range. There are conspicuous peaks due to the f_2(1270) and two 0^++ states in the 1.45 and 1.75 GeV/c^2 mass regions. The first 0^++ state has a mass of 1466\pm 6\pm 20 MeV/c^2, a width of 108^{+14}_{-11}\pm 25 MeV/c^2, and a branching fraction B(J/psi \to \gamma f_0(1500) \to\gamma \pi^+\pi^-) = (0.67\pm0.02\pm0.30) \times 10^{-4}. Spin 0 is strongly preferred over spin 2. The second 0^++ state peaks at 1765^{+4}_{-3}\pm 13 MeV/c^2 with a width of 145\pm8\pm69 MeV/c^2. If this 0^++ is interpreted as coming from f_0(1710), the ratio of its branching fractions to pipi and K\bar K is 0.41^{+0.11}_{-0.17}.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figure

    Study of J\psi decaying into \omega p \bar p

    Full text link
    The decay J/ψωppˉJ/\psi \to \omega p \bar p is studied using a 5.8×1075.8 \times 10^7 J/ψJ/\psi event sample accumulated with the BES II detector at the Beijing electron-positron collider. The decay branching fraction is measured to be B(J/ψωppˉ)=(9.8±0.3±1.4)×104B(J/\psi \to \omega p \bar p)=(9.8\pm 0.3\pm 1.4)\times 10^{-4}. No significant enhancement near the ppˉp\bar p mass threshold is observed, and an upper limit of B(J/ψωX(1860))B(X(1860)ppˉ)B(J/\psi \to \omega X(1860))B(X(1860)\to p\bar p) <1.5×105< 1.5 \times 10^{-5} is determined at the 95% confidence level, where X(1860) designates the near-threshold enhancement seen in the ppˉp\bar p mass spectrum in J/ψγppˉJ/\psi \to \gamma p \bar p decays.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
