A FORTRAN PROGRAM FOR ESTIMATING RESIDUAL RADIATION LEVELS IN HIGH-ENERGY CHARGED-PARTICLE ACCELERATORS
A FORTRAN II program is described for utilizing cross section data for spallation products to obtain an estimate of the residual radiation from the bombardment of materials with high-energy particles. The program listing is included, together with sample input and output. (auth

Half-value thickness measurements of ordinary concrete for neutrons from cyclotron targets
From AIHA conference; Boston, Massachusetts, USA (20 May Half-value thicknesses of a wall of ordinary concrete bricks were determined for fast neutrons emitted from a variety of cyclotron beam-target combinations. The neutrons used in the study were produced at the Oak Ridge Isochronous Cyclotron by bombarding thick targets of carbon, aluminum, copper and tantalum with beams of protons, deuterons, alpha particles and carbon ions. Attenuated and unattenuated dose rate measurements of these neutrons were made at an 80 cm thick concrete block wall which served as one side of the target room where the irradiations occurred. The ratios provided by these shielded and unshielded dose rate measurements were translated into half-value thicknesses. (auth

Heavy ion target area fast neutron dose equivalent rates
Fast neutron dose equivalent rates were measured for targets bombarded with a variety of heavy-ion beams over a wide range of energies. These data should be useful to those developing policies which allow personnel to enter accelerator areas during beam on periods. (GHT
