Personal Radio
With the development of new technologies that allow the broadcast of digital data over radio signals, there are many possibilities for improving upon the traditional radio station model for content delivery. The idea of Personal Radio is a system that tailors content to meet the needs of each individual. Using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to play location specific content, the listening history to play content an appropriate number of times, and user feedback to learn personal preferences, the Personal Radio provides the listener with the content that is the most useful/interesting to them. This paper will examine the general design of such a system and present solutions developed in the implementation of several pieces of the design
Competing Glauber and Kawasaki Dynamics
Using a quantum formulation of the master equation we study a kinetic Ising
model with competing stochastic processes: the Glauber dynamics with
probability and the Kawasaki dynamics with probability . Introducing
explicitely the coupling to a heat bath and the mutual static interaction of
the spins the model can be traced back exactly to a Ginzburg Landau functional
when the interaction is of long range order. The dependence of the correlation
length on the temperature and on the probability is calculated. In case
that the spins are subject to flip processes the correlation length disappears
for each finite temperature. In the exchange dominated case the system is

The Effect of Target Transparency on Managers’ Target Setting Decisions
This study investigates, via two experiments, the effects of target transparency, which reflects employees' knowledge about each other's targets in an organization, on managers' target setting decisions. We also investigate whether this effect depends on the need for help among employees. We predict and find that target transparency and need for help interact to influence managers' target setting decisions. Target transparency increases target levels when the need for help is low, but not when it is high. Further, target transparency leads managers to differentiate less between individual employee targets. This reduction is greater when the need for help is high than when it is low. Additional analyses support our theory by revealing that managers strategically set targets in a way that is consistent with an intention to motivate both effort at the individual level and help among employees when such are needed. Our results help explain anecdotal evidence of why companies that value help among employees often make targets transparent throughout the entire organization

We present a unified algebraic Bethe ansatz for open vertex models which are

By the method, we solve these models with the trivial K matrix and find that
our results agree with that obtained by analytical

some non-trivial diagonal K-matrices (one free parameter case) by the algebraic
