Bogoliubov transformations and exact isolated solutions for simple non-adiabatic Hamiltonians

    Get PDF
We present a new method for finding isolated exact solutions of a class of non-adiabatic Hamiltonians of relevance to quantum optics and allied areas. Central to our approach is the use of Bogoliubov transformations of the bosonic fields in the models. We demonstrate the simplicity and efficiency of this method by applying it to the Rabi Hamiltonian.Comment: LaTeX, 16 pages, 1 figure. Minor additions and journal re

    Hybrid composite laminate structures

    Get PDF
An invention which relates to laminate structures and specifically to essentially anisotropic fiber composite laminates is described. Metal foils are selectively disposed within the laminate to produce increased resistance to high velocity impact, fracture, surface erosion, and other stresses within the laminate

Isostaticity in two dimensional pile of rigid disks

We study the static structure of piles made of polydisperse disks in the rigid limit with and without friction using molecular dynamic simulations for various elasticities of the disks and pile preparation procedures. The coordination numbers are calculated to examine the isostaticity of the pile structure. For the frictionless pile, it is demonstrated that the coordination number converges to 4 in the rigid limit, which implies that the structure of rigid disk pile is isostatic. On the other hand, for the frictional case with the infinite friction constant, the coordination number depends on the preparation procedure of the pile, but we find that the structure becomes very close to isostatic with the coordination number close to 3 in the rigid limit when the pile is formed through the process that tends to make a pile of random configuration.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figures, Submitted to J. Diphoton decay for a 750750 GeV scalar boson in an U(1)XU(1)_{X} model

    Get PDF
In the context of a nonuniversal and anomaly free U(1)XU(1)_{X} extension of the standard model, we examine the decay of a 750750GeV scalar singlet state, ξχ\xi_{\chi}, as a possible explanation of the observed diphoton excess announced by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations at CERN-LHC collider. One-loop decay to photons is allowed through three heavy singlet quarks and one charged Higgs boson into the loop. We obtain, for different width approximations and for masses of the exotic singlet quarks in the region [900, 3000][900,\,3000] GeV, a production cross section σ(pp→ξχ→γγ)\sigma(pp\to\xi_{\chi}\to\gamma\gamma) compatible with ATLAS and CMS collaborations data. We also include another scalar singlet, σ\sigma, as a dark matter candidate that may couple with the 750 GeV scalar at tree level with production cross sections in agreement with ATLAS and CMS.Comment: 5 figures, discussion extended, 2 new figure

Shock absorbing mount for electrical components

    Get PDF
A shock mount for installing electrical components on circuit boards is described. The shock absorber is made of viscoelastic material which interconnects the electrical components. With this system, shocks imposed on one component of the circuit are not transmitted to other components. A diagram of a typical circuit is provided

Exact isolated solutions for the two-photon Rabi Hamiltonian

    Get PDF
The two-photon Rabi Hamiltonian is a simple model describing the interaction of light with matter, with the interaction being mediated by the exchange of two photons. Although this model is exactly soluble in the rotating-wave approximation, we work with the full Hamiltonian, maintaining the non-integrability of the model. We demonstrate that, despite this non-integrability, there exist isolated, exact solutions for this model analogous to the so-called Juddian solutions found for the single-photon Rabi Hamiltonian. In so doing we use a Bogoliubov transformation of the field mode, as described by the present authors in an earlier publication.Comment: 15 Pages, 1 Figure, Latex, minor change
