Convergence properties of decays in chiral perturbation theory
Theoretical efforts to describe and explain the decays reach
far back in time. Even today, the convergence of the decay widths and some of
the Dalitz plot parameters seems problematic in low energy QCD. In the
framework of resummed CHPT, we explore the question of compatibility of
experimental data with a reasonable convergence of a carefully defined chiral
series, where NNLO remainders are assumed to be small. By treating the
uncertainties in the higher orders statistically, we numerically generate a
large set of theoretical predictions, which are then confronted with
experimental information. In the case of the decay widths, the experimental
values can be reconstructed for a reasonable range of the free parameters and
thus no tension is observed, in spite of what some of the traditional
calculations suggest. The Dalitz plot parameters and can be described
very well too. When the parameters and are concerned, we find a
mild tension for the whole range of the free parameters, at less than 2
C.L. This can be interpreted in two ways - either some of the higher order
corrections are indeed unexpectedly large or there is a specific configuration
of the remainders, which is, however, not completely improbable. Also, the
distribution of the theoretical uncertainties is found to be significantly
non-gaussian, so the consistency cannot be simply judged by the 1 error

ABC Effect in Basic Double-Pionic Fusion --- Observation of a new resonance?
We report on a high-statistics measurement of the basic double pionic fusion
reaction over the energy region of the so-called ABC
effect, a pronounced low-mass enhancement in the -invariant mass
spectrum. The measurements were performed with the WASA detector setup at COSY.
The data reveal the ABC effect to be associated with a Lorentzian shaped energy
dependence in the integral cross section. The observables are consistent with a
resonance with in both and systems.

A marine and salt marsh sediment organic carbon database for European regional seas (EURO-CARBON)
Marine and salt marsh sediments contain large amounts of organic carbon (OC) and are therefore important in the global carbon cycle. Here, we collated previously published and unpublished measurements of sediment OC in marine and salt marsh sediments in European regional seas (EURO-CARBON; available at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14905489). To the extent possible the OC data were complemented by variables such as sediment porosity and dry bulk density. The EURO-CARBON dataset holds 61306 individual data entries of sediment OC content from different regions of European regional seas. Around three quarters (76%) were collected in coastal and deep sea bare sediments, 18% from salt marshes, 7% from seagrass habitats, and 0.03% from macroalgal habitats. For all habitats and sediment depth layers the OC content varied between <0.1 and 41.56 % (avg.: 2.47 ± 3.37 %; median: 1.39 %), with the content generally decreasing in the following sequence: salt marsh (5.01 ± 5.96 %; 3.03 %) > seagrass (2.37 ± 5.96 %; 3.03 %) > bare sediment (1.88 ± 2.03 %; 1.20 %). The EURO-CARBON dataset will serve as a basis for future work, and it will be an important resource for researchers, managers, and policymakers working towards protecting sediment OC pools
Spin dependence of {\eta} meson production in proton-proton collisions close to threshold
Taking advantage of the high acceptance and axial symmetry of the WASA-at-COSY detector, and the high degree of the polarized proton beam of COSY, the reaction pp{\to} pp{\eta} has been measured close to threshold to explore the analyzing power Ay. The angular distribution of Ay is determined with the precision improved by more than one order of magnitude with respect to previous results allowing a first accurate comparison with theoretical predictions. The determined analyzing power is consistent with zero for an excess energy of Q = 15 MeV signaling s wave production with no evidence for higher partial waves. At Q = 72 MeV the data reveals strong interference of P s and P p partial waves and cancellation of (P p) and Ss*Sd contributions. These results rule out the presently available theoretical predictions for the production mechanism of the {\eta} meson
Total and differential cross sections of η-production in proton–deuteron fusion for excess energies between Qη = 13 MeV and Qη = 81 MeV
New data on both total and differential cross sections of the production of η mesons in proton–deuteron fusion to He3η in the excess energy region 13.6MeV≤Qη≤80.9MeV are presented. These data have been obtained with the WASA-at-COSY detector setup located at the Forschungszentrum Jülich, using a proton beam at 15 different beam momenta between pp=1.60GeV/c and pp=1.74GeV/c. While significant structure of the total cross section is observed in the energy region 20MeV≲Qη≲60MeV, a previously reported sharp variation around Qη≈50MeV cannot be confirmed. Angular distributions show the typical forward-peaking that was noted earlier. For the first time, it is possible to study the development of these angular distributions with rising excess energy over a wide interval
