High efficiency, low cost thin GaAs solar cells
The feasibility of fabricating space-resistant, high efficiency, light-weight, low-cost GaAs shallow-homojunction solar cells for space application is demonstrated. This program addressed the optimal preparation of ultrathin GaAs single-crystal layers by AsCl3-GaAs-H2 and OMCVD process. Considerable progress has been made in both areas. Detailed studies on the AsCl3 process showed high-quality GaAs thin layers can be routinely grown. Later overgrowth of GaAs by OMCVD has been also observed and thin FaAs films were obtained from this process
Shallow-homojunction GaAs solar cells
Single-crystal GaAs shallow-homojunction solar cells on GaAs or Ge substrates, without Ga sub 1-x Al sub x As window layers, that have conversion efficiencies exceeding 20% at AM1 (17% at AMO). Using a simple theoretical model, good fits were obtained between computer calculations and experimental data for external quantum efficiency and conversion efficiency of cells with different values of n+ layer thickness. The calculations not only yield values for material properties of the GaAs layers composing the cells but will also permit the optimization of cell designs for space and terrestrial applications. Preliminary measurements indicate that the shallow-homojunction cells are resistant to electron irradiation. In the best test so far, bombardment with 1 x 10 to the 16th power/sq cm fluence of 1 MeV electrons reduced the short-circuit current by only about 6%
Internationalisation of Spanish fashion brand Zara
Zara is one of the world’s most successful fashion retailers operating in 59 countries.
However, there is little research about the firm in English as the majority of
publications have been written in Spanish. This paper seeks to address this gap in the
literature by examining the internationalisation process of Zara. This study adopts an
in-depth case approach based on extensive secondary research. Literature published in
both English and Spanish has been reviewed, including company documents such as
annual reports. The paper starts with a brief overview of the global textile and
clothing industry, followed by the case study of Zara. The main part of the case
examines the key aspects in the internationalisation of Zara namely: motives for
internationalisation, market selection, entry strategies, and international marketing
strategies. In the final section, comparisons are made between Zara and two of its
main competitors, H&M and Gap

Comparison between TeV and non-TeV BL Lac Objects
BL Lacertae objects (BL Lacs) is the dominant population of TeV emitting
blazars. In this work, we investigate whether there is any special
observational properties for TeV sources. To do so, we will compare the
observational properties of TeV detected BL Lacs (TeV BLs) and non-TeV detected
BL Lac objects (non-TeV BLs). From the 3rd /LAT catalog (3FGL), we can
get 662 BL Lacs, out of which, 47 are TeV BLs and 615 are non-TeV BLs. Their
multi-wavelength flux densities (, , ,
), photon spectral indexes (,
), and effective spectral indexes (
and ) are compiled from the available literatures. Then the
luminosities (, ,
, ) are calculated. From
comparisons, we found that TeV BLs are different from low-synchrotron-peaked
BLs (LSP) and intermediate-synchrotron-peaked BLs (ISP), but TeV BLs show
similar properties as high-synchrotron-peaked BLs (HSP). Therefore, we
concentrated on comparison between TeV HSP BLs and non-TeV HSP BLs. Analysis
results suggest that TeV HSP BLs and non-TeV HSP BLs show some differences in
their and , while their other
properties are quite similar
Nonlinear analysis of phased-locked loops with rapidly varying phase
The performance of command and telemetry systems, useful in deep-space communications, is frequently affected by the radio-frequency phase error which is introduced at the point of reception by means of the carrier tracking loop. In low data rate communications, this phase error may vary rapidly over the duration of the signaling interval. In this paper such phase variation is characterized by a sinusoidal input phase, K sin (omega sub o t+, pi/6), which models a typical phase variation in communication over turbulent media. Conditions for synchronization stability and the acquisition behavior are examined by detailed computer study of the phase-plane trajectories for the second and third-order loops with perfect integrator. It is demonstrated that for the phase variation considered the third-order loop has no real advantage over the second-order loop. Finally, it is shown that nonzero initial conditions may result in large steady-state phase error
CHINA'S OFFICIAL RATES AND BOND YIELDS
Recent research shows that bond yields are influenced by monetary policy decisions. To learn how this works in an interest rate market that differs significantly from that of the U.S. and Europe, we model Chinese bond yields using the one-year deposit rate as a state variable. We also add the difference between the one-year interest rate and the one-year deposit rate as a factor. The model is developed in an affine framework and closed-form solutions are obtained. It is tested empirically and the results show that the new model characterizes the changing shape of the yield curve well.
