Les activités du Département de recherches de la Gremial de Huleros ont été menées dans les domaines suivants : ressources génétiques, pratiques culturales, phytopathologie et exploitation de l'hévéa. L'acquisition de la plantation Santa Ana Mixpiya a permis d'établir un centre d'expérimentation. Les principaux résultats obtenus en 1997 dans les différentes stations sont présentés dans ce rapport annuel. Des jardins clonaux ont été établis pour l'évaluation du matériel génétique et pour la multiplication du matériel végétal. La collection de matériel génétique s'est également agrandie. L'évaluation des clones a été faite dans des champs à grande et à petite échelle. Les observations ont porté sur leurs caractéristiques morphologiques et leur sensibilité à #Microcyclus ulei#. Pour étudier l'exploitation de l'hévéa, différents systèmes de saignée avec ou sans stimulation ont été étudiés. En phytopathologie, on a expérimenté plusieurs traitements contre l'encoche sèche. Pour la production de plants greffés, on a évalué les caractéristiques agronomiques de semences d'origine différente, ainsi que leur sensibilité à #Microcyclus ulei# afin de les utiliser comme porte-greffes. Des essais de fertilisation (azote, phosphore et potassium) ont été menés sur plusieurs plantations. Tous les protocoles expérimentaux sont donnés en annexes

Fractional Path Coloring in Bounded Degree Trees with Applications

We prove constructively that finding an optimal fractional path coloring is Fixed Parameter Tractable (FPT), with the degree of the tree as parameter: the fractional coloring of paths in a bounded degree trees can be done in a time which is linear in the size of the tree, quadratic in the load of the set of paths, while exponential in the degree of the tree. We give an algorithm based on the generation of an efficient polynomial size linear program. Our algorithm is able to explore in polynomial time the exponential number of different fractional colorings, thanks to the notion of trace of a coloring that we introduce. We further give an upper bound on the cost of such a coloring in binary trees and extend this algorithm to bounded degree graphs with bounded treewidth. Finally, we also show some relationships between the integral and fractional problems, and derive a (1 + 5/3e) ~= 1.61 approximation algorithm for the path coloring problem in bounded degree trees, improving on existing results. This classic combinatorial problem finds applications in the minimization of the number of wavelengths in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical networks

Radicular compression by extradural spinal endometriosis. Case report.

The case of a 35 years old woman affected by endometriosis located inside the spinal canal in the extradural space at the level of the third left lumbar root, and developing through the corresponding foramen into the paraspinal muscles, is presented. The clinical aspect, radiological picture and surgical treatment are described. Pathogenesis is discussed on the basis of the literature. Furthermore it is stressed that only the histopathological examination gave the correct diagnosis and permitted the definitive hormonal treatment. To our best knowledge no comparable case has been published in the literature

Nous présentons des algorithmes efficaces pour la collecte d’informations par une station de base au sein d’un réseau sans-fil multi sauts en présence d’interférences. Nous nous focalisons sur les réseaux en grille car ils sont un bon modèle des réseaux d’accès comme des réseaux aléatoires de capteurs. Le temps est divisé en étapes élémentaires. Au cours d’une étape, un nœud peut transmettre au plus un message à l’un de ces voisins. Chaque appareil est équipé d’un interface half duplex et ne peut donc émettre et recevoir à la même étape. Ainsi, au cours d’une étape, l’ensemble des transmissions valides induit un couplage de la grille. Le problème consiste à minimiser le nombre d’étapes nécessaires à la collecte de tous les messages par la station de base. Le meilleur algorithme connu était une 3/2 approximation. Nous donnons un algorithme très simple qui approche l’optimum à 2 près, puis nous présentons un algorithme plus évolué qui est une +1 approximation. Nos résultats sont valides lorsque les appareils ne disposent d’aucune mémoire tampon et doivent retransmettre un message à l’étape suivant sa réception

The Quebec classification and a new Swedish classification for whiplash-associated disorders in relation to life satisfaction in patients at high risk of chronic functional impairment and disability

Unlike the Quebec classification system, which is based primarily on pathoanatomy, a new Swedish classification system is based on the site of functional impairment and disability. A prospective study was performed on 85 patients with whiplash-associated disorders grade II according to the Quebec classification. The patients were examined 3-36 months following trauma. A team of professionals with different training performed the diagnostic procedure. An independent assessor classified these patients according to a Swedish classification system. All patients answered questionnaire regarding life satisfaction. Logistic regression demonstrated significant differences in 6 of 10 specific dimensions of life satisfaction between the classification categories C and D (presence of arm symptoms) in a Swedish classification. Patients with whiplash-associated disorders grade If and neuropsychological symptoms seem to have a worse prognosis for spontaneous recovery than those without. A new Swedish classification system seems to be an important complement to the Quebec classification

Approximate Multicommodity Flow for WDM Networks Design

The design of WDM optical networks is an issue for telecom operators since the spreading of this technology will not occur unless enough performance guarantees are provided. Motivated by the quest for efficient algorithms for the Routing and Wavelength Assignment problem (RWA), we address approximations of the fractional multicommodity flow problem which is the central part of a complex randomized rounding algorithm for the integral problem. Through the use of dynamic shortest path computations and other combinatorial approaches, we improve on the best known algorithm. We also provide directions for further improvements
