    Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world; much of its population live in rural areas and many live below the local poverty line. The management of common property aquatic resources is of over-riding importance to food security and sustainable rural development in Cambodia. Aquatic resources are utilized principally by subsistence fishers and the landless, for whom aquatic resource use is an important livelihood activity. Subsistence fishers access mainly the rivers, lakes and inundated forests in Tonle Sap provinces, the lower Mekong and Bassac regions and the upper part of the Mekong. Freshwater capture fisheries probably contribute more to national food security and the national economy in Cambodia than in any other country in the world. (PDF contains 52 pages

    Fe and N self-diffusion in non-magnetic FeN has been studied using neutron reflectivity. The isotope labelled multilayers, FeN/57Fe:N and Fe:N/Fe:15N were prepared using magnetron sputtering. It was remarkable to observe that N diffusion was slower compared to Fe while the atomic size of Fe is larger compared to N.     Rasashastra is a science which deals with metals and minerals and their therapeutic effects. These can cause hazardous effects if not purified. Purificatory procedures can be generally classified into two, namely – Samanya Shodhana and Vishesha Shodhana. In this study, reference from Rasatarangini was adopted for Samanya and Vishesha Shodhana of Loha. The Analysis of Raw sample of iron, Samanya Shoditha Loha and Vishesha shoditha Loha was done to analyse the difference physically and chemically by ICP-OES method. The discussions are made on the Shodhana procedures and results obtained with giving probable reasons. From Samanya and Vishesha Shodhana of Loha it is evident that the particle size was reducing drastically after each procedure making it more brittle and fine. There were many changes observed from the raw sample of Loha to the Vishesha shodhita Loha physically and analytically. Thus we can adopt Samanya Shodhana, Vishesha Shodhana or together depending on the requirement

    Human islets expressing HNF1A variant have defective beta cell transcriptional regulatory networks

    Using an integrated approach to characterize the pancreatic tissue and isolated islets from a 33-year-old with 17 years of type 1 diabetes (T1D), we found that donor islets contained beta cells without insulitis and lacked glucose-stimulated insulin secretion despite a normal insulin response to cAMP-evoked stimulation. With these unexpected findings for T1D, we sequenced the donor DNA and found a pathogenic heterozygous variant in the gene encoding hepatocyte nuclear factor-1alpha (HNF1A). In one of the first studies of human pancreatic islets with a disease-causing HNF1A variant associated with the most common form of monogenic diabetes, we found that HNF1A dysfunction leads to insulin-insufficient diabetes reminiscent of T1D by impacting the regulatory processes critical for glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and suggest a rationale for a therapeutic alternative to current treatment

    Nanocrystallization and Amorphization Induced by Reactive Nitrogen Sputtering in Iron and Permalloy

    Thin films of iron and permalloy Ni80Fe20 were prepared using an Ar+N2 mixture with magnetron sputtering technique at ambient temperature. The nitrogen partial pressure, during sputtering process was varied in the range of 0 to 100%, keeping the total gas flow at constant. At lower nitrogen pressures RN2<33% both Fe and NiFe, first form a nanocrystalline structure and an increase in nitrogen partail pressure results in formation of an amorphous structure. At intermediate nitrogen partial pressures, nitrides of Fe and NiFe were obtained while at even higher nitrogen partial pressures, nitrides themselves became nanocrystalline or amorphous. The surface, structural and magnetic properties of the deposited films were studied using x-ray reflection and diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, polarized neutron reflectivity and using a DC extraction magnetometer. The growth behavior for amorphous film was found different as compared with poly or nanocrystalline films. The soft-magnetic properties of FeN were improved on nanocrystallization while those of NiFeN were degraded. A mechanism inducing nanocrystallization and amorphization in Fe and NiFe due to reactive nitrogen sputtering is discussed in the present article.Comment: 13 Pages, 15 Figure

    Sprouty2 loss‐induced IL6 drives castration‐resistant prostate cancer through scavenger receptor B1

    Metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) is a lethal form of treatment‐resistant prostate cancer and poses significant therapeutic challenges. Deregulated receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) signalling mediated by loss of tumour suppressor Sprouty2 (SPRY2) is associated with treatment resistance. Using pre‐clinical human and murine mCRPC models, we show that SPRY2 deficiency leads to an androgen self‐sufficient form of CRPC. Mechanistically, HER2‐IL6 signalling axis enhances the expression of androgen biosynthetic enzyme HSD3B1 and increases SRB1‐mediated cholesterol uptake in SPRY2‐deficient tumours. Systemically, IL6 elevated the levels of circulating cholesterol by inducing host adipose lipolysis and hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis. SPRY2‐deficient CRPC is dependent on cholesterol bioavailability and SRB1‐mediated tumoral cholesterol uptake for androgen biosynthesis. Importantly, treatment with ITX5061, a clinically safe SRB1 antagonist, decreased treatment resistance. Our results indicate that cholesterol transport blockade may be effective against SPRY2‐deficient CRPC
