Measurements and TCAD simulation of novel ATLAS planar pixel detector structures for the HL-LHC upgrade
The LHC accelerator complex will be upgraded between 2020-2022, to the
High-Luminosity-LHC, to considerably increase statistics for the various
physics analyses. To operate under these challenging new conditions, and
maintain excellent performance in track reconstruction and vertex location, the
ATLAS pixel detector must be substantially upgraded and a full replacement is
expected. Processing techniques for novel pixel designs are optimised through
characterisation of test structures in a clean room and also through
simulations with Technology Computer Aided Design (TCAD). A method to study
non-perpendicular tracks through a pixel device is discussed. Comparison of
TCAD simulations with Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) measurements to
investigate the doping profile of structures and validate the simulation
process is also presented.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, PIXEL201
Quantum turnstile operation of single-molecule magnets
The time-dependent transport through single-molecule magnets coupled to
magnetic or non-magnetic electrodes is studied in the framework of the
generalized master equation method. We investigate the transient regime induced
by the periodic switching of the source and drain contacts. If the electrodes
have opposite magnetizations the quantum turnstile operation allows the
stepwise writing of intermediate excited states. In turn, the transient
currents provide a way to read these states. Within our approach we take into
account both the uniaxial and transverse anisotropy. The latter may induce
additional quantum tunneling processes which affect the efficiency of the
proposed read-and-write scheme. An equally weighted mixture of molecular spin
states can be prepared if one of the electrodes is ferromagnetic.Comment: 19 pages, 6 figure
THE INFLUENCE OF FOLIAR FERTILIZATION WITH HUMIC ACIDS ON THE PRODUCTION OF WHITE CABBAGE
The main purpose of the study was to test the effect of some fertilizers based on humic acids on autumn cabbage,Bucharest F1 in the ecological conditions of the South-West of Romania. The foliar products applied were formulated and obtained by ICPA Bucharest. The biological material was represented by the Bucharest F1 hybrid. The experience included three variants: V1-untreated, V2-foliar fertilization with Deceneu and V3 foliar fertilization with Humifert Plus. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, biometric determinations have been carried out on the eatable organs: height and diameter of the head, the shape index and the degree of stuffi, but also the quantity and quality of the cabbage production. Application of fertilizers led to increased production at the fertilized variants, significant differences were at the variant with the Deceneu product, 132.5 kg/ha and a good accumulation of ascorbic acid, 35.78 mg/100g fresh matter, when applying Humifert Plu
EFFECT OF FATIGUE ON BASKETBALL THREE POINTS SHOT KINEMATICS
The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of fatigue on basketball shooting kinematics. Young elite players (n=8) were included in the study. Maximal and minimal 3D joint angles, at maximum and minimum centre of mass height were measured with inertial sensors (Moven Biomech, Xsens). Each player performed four 3 points shot (3PS) in dynamic conditions before and after a submaximal exercise (70% of maximal exhausting). This exercise consisted in a repetition of 20-meters sprints with 5 jumps between each sprint. Results showed that fatigue decreased hip joint angle and increased shoulder joint angle when the center of mass was at its lowest point. These biomechanical modifications did not alter the precision of shooting. This study demonstrated that fatigue has small effect on kinematics and precision of the 3PS
