User's guide for the Nimbus 7 Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR) CELL-ALL tape
The SMMR instrument onboard the Nimbus-7 satellite has been in operation since October 1978. It provided global coverage of passive microwave observations at 6.6, 10.7, 18, 21, and 37 GHz. The oberved brightness temperature can be used to retrieve geophysical parameters, principally sea surface temperature, atmospheric water vapor and liquid water content over oceans, sea ice concentration, and snow cover over land. The SMME CELL-ALL Tape contains earth-located calibrated brightness temperature data which have been appropriately binned into cells of various grid sizes, allowing intercomparisons of observations made at different frequencies (with corresponding different footprint sizes). This user's guide describes the operation of the instrument, the flow of the data processing the calibration procedure, and the characteristics of the calibrated brightness temperatures and how they are binned. medical programme. Students achieving a grade point average
over 6.0 are eligible for an admissions interview. The research
question of the study was, “If students have a definite interest in
becoming a future doctor in their premedical course, does this
relate to their levels of motivation, competitiveness, perceived
stress, quality of life and grade attainment?” A total of 1369
students who completed a high stakes biosciences assessment
were asked to disclose their grade (converted to a numerical
value) and to complete the Motivated Strategies for Learning
Questionnaire, a World Health Organisation Quality Of Life
(QoL) questionnaire, Perceived Stress Scale, and Revised
Competitiveness Index. To explore differences between those
students who aimed to be doctors vs those who did not, a binary
logistic regression was conducted. Twenty five percent of students
participated in the research. Significant predictors of course
intention (medicine; other) were academic attainment, perceived
stress, and physical and environmental QoL. Post hoc analyses
revealed that perceived stress and physical QoL were moderating
variables. Students with an intention to become a doctor tend to
attain higher grades and have better environmental quality of life
scores. This may indicate that students who are admitted into
medical school gain higher grades but also likely come from
more affluent and well-resourced backgrounds. Physical health
problems and perceived stress are likely to moderate the impact
of grade achievement, environmental QoL, competition and

Food and vices in south-eastern Nigeria: implications for poverty
This study focused on food and vices in South-Eastern Nigeria: implication for poverty. One hundred and sixty (160) respondents, adult male and female, were selected from 8 local government areas in Imo and Abia States. A purposive sampling technique was employed. The objectives include among others an examination of the nature of poverty in South-Eastern Nigeria; an investigation to ascertain whether or not, poverty results in hunger, etc. The following were the findings: Hunger seems to have ravaged our society. This is because majority of our people are poor and are unable to solve the hunger problem. As a result of inability to provide food, which is a basic necessity of life, the poor have employed all sorts of measures to put food on the table for their families. Unfortunately, most of these measures have been negative; as people are engaged in vices like armedrobbery, prostitution, pick pocketing, over-profiteering, etc. Others, because of poverty, have engaged in begging, constituting nuisance in the society. This paper sought solutions that would improve the lot of the poor and have them properly engaged in activities other than these vices, which can help them provide food for their families. The following were recommended: There should be the provision of gainful employment through the setting up of industries, factories and other establishments. This employment should be made to incorporate both educated and uneducated people based on merit and according to their area of competence; Skill’s Acquisition Centers should be widely set up so that those who cannot cope can learn trades that would help them to face life’s challenges, etc.

Cognitive deficits and changes in gene expression of NMDA receptors after prenatal methylmercury exposure.
Previous studies showed learning and memory deficit in adult rats that were prenatally exposed to methylmercury chloride (MMC) in an advanced stage of pregnancy (15 days). Under these conditions, the cognitive deficits found at 60 days of age paralleled particularly changes in the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor characteristics. In the present study, we report the behavioral effects of a single oral dose of MMC (8 mg/kg) administered earlier at gestational day 8. The use of different learning and memory tests (passive avoidance, object recognition, water maze) showed a general cognitive impairment in the in utero-exposed rats tested at 60 days of age compared with matched controls. Considering the importance of the glutamatergic receptor system and its endogenous ligands in learning and memory process regulation, we surmised that MMC could affect the gene expression of NMDA receptor subtypes. The use of a sensitive RNase protection assay allowed the evaluation of gene expression of two families of NMDA receptors (NR-1 and NR-2 subtypes). The result obtained in 60-day-old rats prenatally exposed to MMC, showed increased mRNA levels of the NR-2B subunit in the hippocampus but not in the frontal cortex. The data suggest that the behavioral abnormalities of MMC-exposed rats might be ascribed to a neurotoxic effect of the metal that alters the gene expression of a specific NMDA receptor subunit in the hippocampus

Autonomous Fruit Harvester with Machine Vision
This study presents an autonomous fruit harvester with a machine vision capable of detecting and picking or cutting an orange fruit from a tree. The system of is composed of a six-degrees of freedom (6-DOF) robotic arm mounted on a four-wheeled electric kart. The kart uses ZED stereo camera for depth estimation of a target. It can also be used to detect trees using the green detection algorithm. Image processing is done using Microsoft Visual Studio and OpenCV library. The x & y coordinates and distance of the tree are passed on to Arduino microcontroller as inputs to motor control of the wheels. When the kart is less than 65cm to the tree, the kart stops and the robotic arm system takes over to search and harvest orange fruits. The robotic arm has a webcam and ultrasonic sensor attached at its end-effector. The webcam is used for orange fruit detection while ultrasonic sensor is used to provide feedback on the distance of the orange fruit to end-effector. Multiple fruit harvesting is successfully done. The success rate of harvesting and putting fruit into the basket is 80% and 85% for the gripper end-effector and cutter end-effector respectively
Vaginal flora morphotypic profiles and assessment of bacterial vaginosis in women at risk for HIV infection.
Specific morphotypic profiles of normal and abnormal vaginal flora, including bacterial vaginosis (BV), were characterized. A prospective study of 350 women yielded concurrent Gram-stain data and clinical assessment (n = 3455 visits). Microbiological profiles were constructed by Gram stain. Eight profile definitions were based on dichotomizing the levels of Lactobacillus, Gardnerella, and curved, Gram-negative bacillus (Mobiluncus) morphotypes. Of these, two were rare, and the other six demonstrated a graded association with the clinical components of BV. The proposed profiles from the Gram stain reflect the morphotypic categories describing vaginal flora that may enable clearer elucidation of gynecologic and obstetric outcomes in various populations

Background:
Scleroderma renal crisis (SRC) is a rare complication of systemic sclerosis (SSc), which can be triggered by viruses, such as Cytomegalovirus (CMV). SRC presents as a new-onset accelerated-phase hypertension with/without rapidly progressive renal failure.
Objectives:
Here we describe the case of a patient developing SSc complicated by the appearance of SRC after a recent episode of acute Cytomegalovirus infection.
Methods:
A 66-year-old male was referred to our Scleroderma Unit in March 2019. He presented with widespread skin rash, exertional dyspnoea and peripheral oedemas. He reported a myocarditis due to CMV occurred in October 2018. Antibodies anti-CMV IgM were detected in his serum.
